5 out of 5 eggsGreat card. Easily unlocked.

Pros: I bought this card about a year ago. Decided to finally right a review. It has been fantastic for me. Unlocked without a hitch, and I've had it running @850mhz since. Never so much as a hiccup. I really believe that these aren't binned as 465's. They seem to perform like a true 470 should. This card never gets hotter than 65c while gaming.

Cons: It's not really made out of gold? I guess that's a con. :)

Other Thoughts: I waited a long time to write a review for this, but I thought it deserved another 5 star rating. I'll be sticking with MSI for their non reference designs from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsUnlocked GTX 465 = Epic

Pros: I bought this card off someone a while ago back, on Overclock.net, when I was putting my "Machine to last" together and this thing delivers like nothing else. I've owned an actual GTX 470 in the past and its awesome to have another one again. Nothing like it. It does run warm after overclocking, but that's why it has that shiny, heavy, and expensive copper heatsink latched to the PCB right? :D

Love this thing. Plays every game I have at either max settings or near to max settings. My CPU is the limitation here. Running a Phenom II 550 @ 3.8GHz, but it does justice enough on the majority of the games I play. :D

Cons: Heavy. Seriously. It weighs in at around 3.5 to 4 pounds for just the card. I usually just use a single screw for most cards, I made sure to use two for this thing and paid attention to how heavy it was on the motherboard. Honesty, the only other heatsink I am worried about out there is the all copper TRUE processor heatsink. XD

Other Thoughts: My PC Specs:

Phenom II X2 550 @ 3.8GHz
ASRock K10N78M-PRO
4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
160GB IDE Western Digital HDD
GTX 465 Golden Edition (Unlocked to a GTX 470)
600w OCZ ModXStream Pro
APEX TX-381-C mATX Mini Tower
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Logitech G9x Mouse
Acer 22" X223WDbd Black @ 1680x1050

Amazing GPU. Perfect for any game out there. :D Rocks DX11 like it's nothing. Again, my CPU is limiting me so I've gotta work on that. :D

4 out of 5 eggsUnlocking not guaranteed

Pros: Quieter than the stock heatsink and more attractive. It also lowers the temperature.
I prefer Nvidia's drivers/control panel to AMD's.
Supports PhysX and DirectX 11. 40 nm part.

Cons: Some units apparently have 10 memory chips and unlock while other units have 8 chips and don't.
Base does not have a mirror finish, rather rough. Could use lapping.
Card is heavy. Some are concerned about stressing the GPU slot/motherboard.
A vapor chamber design may be more practical than using so much copper.

Other Thoughts: The Turkish review site pclabs shows photos of their card that has only 8 memory chips. Two memory spots are empty.
The 470 can be found for around this price or less.
Since the card's heat is expelled into the case, it's imperative to have good case airflow that will expel it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card and Unlocked in Seconds

Pros: The Egg was out of stock on "New" when I bought this one from NE as Open Box.
It unlocked to a GTX 470 flawlessly, and I have been running BFBC2 at Full settings including 16X AA etc....
I really like the MSi cards including the Radeon 5850 Twin Frozer II series. Since I bought open box and they have been out of stock on this Golden Edition, I could not write my review until now as they Just now got a few more in. So if you are thinking of buying this card, my advise it do not wait as there were only 2500 made from what I have read and you snooze you lose! Buy this card! There is even a forum dedicated to this card "MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club" with lots of tips and info.

Cons: They are getting very difficult to find and there are reports that there are a few that do not flash but so far the majority do.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned above I like MSi Cards and I had to RMA a card to MSi once and they handled it very professionally and sent me a "New" card as a replacement. I also like the fact that with MSi they actually warranty the "Card" and not the receipt. So even if you can not locate the receipt months or a year later, they go by the date of manufacture of the card. Personally I like that option better because I hate paperwork and always lose it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Unlocked without a hitch. Running at 800/1600/1850 @1.088v. Max temp in Kombustor was 77c. Very impressed at the price I got this thing. Got it when it was $260 shipped.

Cons: They're not buy one, get one free.

Other Thoughts: I'm fairly new to overclocking and such, but this thing is making it fairly easy. MUCH better than the stock cooled GTX470 I had.

5 out of 5 eggsgtx465 -> gtx470 goodness

Pros: Unlocks to GTX470 ootb easily with guides on overclockDOTnet nvidia forum, and oc's to somewhat below GTX480 stock clocks using latest msi afterburner and Kombuster to check for artifacts. Coming from a radeon 4870 + 4ghz X6 1090T, this lets me run StalkerCoP at max dx11 settings vs dx9 at 1920x1200 smoothly: a good incremental upgrade. Very pleased with the quality of the fan noise; even at 100% they are not whiny or annoying, and quiet at idle.

Cons: Definitely uses more power than the 4870, and card heat is mostly spewed back into the case instead of out the rear. Good case cooling and a >650w psu if overclocking are advised.

Other Thoughts: I plan to try replacing the gpu's TIM with gc-extreme soon. Keeping the card under 80C if overclocking would be smart, stability decreases rapidly past 80C here.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal if you can Flash

Pros: Solid construction, quality board components and beautiful all copper HSF. Fast, cool and quiet as a GTX 465, but this 10 memory chip model can easily and reliably be flashed to a GTX 470.

Cons: None other than that Fermi chip is going to increase the ambient temperature of your computer room a little.

Other Thoughts: While the room the PC is in does warm up a bit from the Fermi produced hot air being exhausted the card itself idles at 35-40C and games at 65-69C with the fan on auto. Set the fan on a fixed 55% (still quiet) and those temps drop five degrees.

You really can't lose with this card if you're looking for a high end board. I'm pretty inexperience with using Nvflash and even I had it flashed to a GTX 470 in about 5 minutes. So easy and you basically end up with a GTX 470 with a better cooling solution for under $300.
