5 out of 5 eggsAmazing card!

Pros: I bought this card used and unlocked as a 6970.

Has a physical switch to switch between firmwares/BIOS when you have it unlocked.

With manual control, you can keep the temps WAY down under full load. I put it under load and the temps soared up around upper 70's C. But I turned on manual fan control and cranked the fan up to around 80% and the temps went back down to the lower 60's C.

Therefore my advice is that if you're experiencing higher temps, Open up AMD's CCC, turn on the manual fan control, and crank it up while you're gaming unless you want to consider other, more expensive options such as liquid cooling or an aftermarket cooler.

By itself, can run almost anything I throw at it! (And I run crossfire, see OTs)

And unfortunately, not at fault of the card, there are some games (such as Grand Theft Auto IV) which cannot use Crossfire/SLI. So when I do play those games, I set this card as my primary card, disable crossfire, and all games are usually able to run with ultra graphics settings. GTA:IV I have to turn down the distance visibility a little, but that's not too much of a problem. With distance down and detail turned up, the game still plays beautifully.

Now with games that DO support crossfire...oh man. There isn't a single game I have come across that can bog these cards down. From Crysis and on. In this age of the Radeon HD7xxx's, I don't see these 69xx's becoming obsolete any time soon.

With that said, AMD keeps updating the Radeon drivers both in Linux and Windows. Also a great perk to know that these won't be neglected for quite a while!

Cons: None so far. I guess in today's age with PCIe 3.0 you could say being only PCIe 2.1 could be a con. But for it's time, that was the standard and the speed between the two is negligible.

Other Thoughts: I run this card in crossfire with an "HD-695X-CDFC Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5" and I have yet to bog these things down. Did a test with bitmining and ended up generating around 350-380MH/s per second with each card.

I run through HDMI to an LG 42'' TV as my monitor. Maybe one day I will switch over to DVI or maybe use some actual gaming monitors. But the TV serves its' purpose beautifully :)

It's unfortunate that they have discontinued all these 69xx cards. Some of us would rather grab another one to crossfire, as opposed to upgrading to the 7xxx series. I know other users have expressed that they're upset about it. I was frustrated too, which is why I had to buy used/refurbished :( oh well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I love this card, hands down. Everything I throw at it, it has smoked with the exception of Rift at High end settings, but it is to be expected with a vast view distance MMO and large crowds. It runs really smooth on BF3 at maxed settings, no AntiAlias. I highly recommend this card if you can find it.

Cons: Large, had to modify my hard drive seating. Moved them down and had to cut open the support for the bays to fit it in my case, but this is due to the case being small, not the card being astronomically big, thought it kind of is.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome cards.

Pros: -MSI.
-Reference.
-Temps are amazing for reference.
-Over clocking capabilities are amazing.
-Eyefinity

Cons: Mini display adapters that comes with it are useless, had to buy a separate HIS active adapter for my 3 monitor set-up.

Had to take off an egg, really made me mad because it's impossible to find a mini-display adapter to DVI-D or HDMI that's active and supports eyefinity.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of them put them in crossfire, unlocked the shader's, OC'd the core to 900Mhz, memory to 1400Mhz, no artifacts, run relatively cool, not loud at all, and I max out practically every game I throw at it!

5 out of 5 eggsWolf in sheep's clothing

Pros: - Was easily able to unlock to 6970 shaders/speeds
- OCs well
- Reference design (personal preference)

Cons: - Large. Barely fit in my case.
- Can be loud when the fan ramps (The sound is noticeable in my case past 45% fan speed)

Other Thoughts: I was able to unlock 6970 shaders and OC it to 950 MHz core (max OC allowed by Catalyst) and the stock 6970 memory speed of 1375 MHz. Didn't try to OC the memory because I don't know if the card has the higher rated memory modules that ship in the 6970 or not and I didn't want to bother with removing the shroud to find out. It runs everything I've thrown at it well at max settings at 1920x1080. The only thing holding it back is that it is probably bottlenecked by my aged C2D E8500...

5 out of 5 eggsFinally got it working

Pros: FINALLY! After trying many things after I first got it, I finally got it to be stable AND unlocked to 6970! On my first review, I had stated the card was stable, well it turned out the drivers on the disk that came with it was completely outdated. And apparently when you install catalyst from AMD, you have to do the standard installation, picking and choosing any changes with make the install bad. Right now, I have thing going as a 6970 and it is awesome. Can't wait to see how BF3 is going to look on here.

Cons: The only con I still have is that the card still runs hot. Besides that nothing really

Other Thoughts: Final note is I will be trying to setup the eyefinity soon and see how that works out.

5 out of 5 eggsbitcoin beast

Pros: dual bios switch, unlocked the shaders without a problem. reference design video cards always feel like higher quality.

pushing 411 MH/s per card in my headless server right now. will pay themselves off after three months at that rate.

Cons: realized shortly after that i can get the same hashrate with dual 5850s that can be found for about 140$ a card....
selling them to purchase dual 5850s instead.

Other Thoughts: might actually keep one for my main rig.

5 out of 5 eggsBlazing fast. EZ 2 unlock

Pros: Very Fast, Dual bios switch. Unlocks to 6970 very easily.

Destroys any game I throw at it. Can push 390 MH/s or so after unlock + overclocking

Cons: Definitely throws off a lot of heat.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This card rocks. It is very sad to see that it has been deactivated if it ever comes back I will not hesitate to buy another one. I bought it couple of weeks ago and I guess I got the last bunch. Heard it is easily unlockable but I haven't the need right now cause card performs excellent.

Cons: Should have bought 2, now its deactivated :(

Other Thoughts: Great card hopefully returns.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: - Runs Cool (Max 67 C)
- Quiet (Although I do have a sound dampening case)
- Running 1440x900 resolution, maxed out for games like StarCraft 2, Fear 3, Dragon Age 2, etc...
- Didn't shader unlock yet, I guess I don't really need to.

Cons: None really, it's a big card but I don't find that to be a con. I got it expecting that much.

Other Thoughts: This card requires two 75W 6-pin connectors to run. Make sure you have the extra power. It comes with two Y splitters in case you don't have two 6-pin power connectors, but that means you need two extra 4 pins to power the 6 pin.

5 out of 5 eggsUnlocks into a monster

Pros: Flashed it with the 6970 shaders, but only overclocked to 840mhz.. That being said, I gained nearly 5 fps in BC2, and 3fps in Rift. I'm not going to complain about that at all :) Also does a solid 360 Mhash for farming bitcoins.

Cons: Large, barely fit in my antec 300 case... but did make it..

Running in Crossfire with this mb and case would make fitting all my hd's in difficult if not impossible without modification.

Other Thoughts: Love this card.. only playing in 1920x1080p, but I'm very close to going with 2 more 32" to go eyefinity.
