2 out of 5 eggsCards Are Crashing Kings

Pros: They performed well until the stock OC burned them up.

Cons: The cards worked great for about a year. Now I try and do everything I can to keep them from crashing from reformatting my PC, to underclocking them and nothing is working. I have read online that MSI OC'd them too high for this chip and they are now burned up. This is horrible for I spent 700 bucks on these cards and they are both cooked from a stock OC which the manufactuer should have fixed.

Other Thoughts: I was really liking these, but with them going out, it is frustrating for they were already pricey cards. When you spend 350 dollars a card, you expect them to last. Make sure if you see MSI OC'd video cards, better yet you steer away from MSI video cards period!

1 out of 5 eggsNever worked right

Pros: Worked for normal desktop apps just fine.

Cons: Ran two of these in SLI mode. Unit would overheat and crash the system at exactly 54 degrees celsius. Had to under clock to keep stable or I wouldn't be able to play a game for more than 10 mins or so. Used the MSI afterburner to underclock CPU but about 120MHZ and put memory down to 1000mhz to work reasonably well for about 30-45 mins before overheating and crashing.

Sent back for RMA and they replaced with a different model stating they no longer have this particular one. However since I bought TWO of these which I ran in SLI, I am now stuck with a VERY expensive video card which I cannot use due to conflicting models.

Also, was also told on the phone that they will not cross ship even with a credit card as deposit, despite the fact that I have been purchasing MSI products for years and they have offered me cross shipping in the past. I also noticed other customers here noted they received cross shipments from the MFR.

Other Thoughts: I've used MSI video cards for years with little to no issues, however this was not a very positive experience for me. While I appreciate them replacing my unit, it drastically affects the performance of my PC and forces me to either accept the performance loss, or shell out another $350+ for another mactching video card. Frankly I think they should take both cards back and replace with matching. At least the next guy who sends his 570 in can get my one working unit as a replacement.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsLots of problems, BIOS update

Pros: This card is pretty cheap and if it's working it's doing a good job. Not much more to say.

Cons: This card, the moment I got it, it crashed so much with artifacts on games that require much of the card. So I put on a bit more voltage to see if it helps, and yeah most games worked with that but there were still some problems running burn-in tests for example. Here's what i didn't know for a year... There is a bios update for this card that fixed all my problems concerning instability.

Other Thoughts: I wish i'd known sooner about the BIOS update

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
The VGA memory could have gone bad and cause artfacting on the screen.
You can also use MSI Afterburner to lower the core frequency to 732MHz and memory to 950MHz (default nVidia spec) and see how it goes.

If you have any updates for this issue and would like to talk to us about, then please email us at usreview@msi.com, thank you.

Best Regards,
MSI Review Team | usreview@msi.com

3 out of 5 eggsWish I could love this card

Pros: When the card was in top operating condition, it performed marvelously. Played MW3, BF3, Tribes Ascend all cranked to max at 1920x1080, no stuttering smooth nice FPS, etc.

Afterburner software it comes with makes it easy to change clock speeds and set when the Fan comes on and how fast it spins, very nice setup.

Cons: Card works GREAT out of the box, for about 1-3 months. Then once it has been 'broken in' that's when the problems start. Start seeing occasional artifacts, games start losing FPS. Then after a while it will start completely locking up/crashing the entire system. I never overclocked the cards, (they're already overclocked from MSI which could be the problem anyway), they just start failing after using them for a few months.

I've had 2 of these so far, could have RMAed for a 3rd one but I'm tired of paying for shipping to have defective products sent to me.

Other Thoughts: I love MSI for motherboards, but I think this will be the last time I use them for a graphics card.

5 out of 5 eggsJust had to put in my 2 cents.

Pros: Havn't had a issue with this card ever. I can OC to 850 core easily with MSI-Afterburner. Manual fan settings I never see the card go higher then 65c.

Cons: None whatsoever. Wondering if most people who experienced issues with this card got the bios update for it which fixed a voltage issue.

Other Thoughts: I was wondering why I havn't been able to find this card on the MSI site or anywhere. Picked mine up for $300 and it was great. I wonder if the bios issue was why they discontinued it?. Guess so. Suggest that anyone who has this card search MSI's site for the bios upgrade which increases the default voltage. Its default was something like .95, but since it is a OC card, it should of been .975. Shrug. In anycase, if you have the card you can allways unlock the voltage control and raise it to .975 with MSI Afterburner.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst graphic card ever

Pros: When it worked (60 min. average Per game session on battlefield 3)

Cons: Kept crashing after an hour of gameplay time (battlefield3).
Screen freezes with a snowlike effect.
When a game's video setting is set to directX 11 - instant crash.
Afterburner software does not keep fan speed to saved setting
This is a faulty design. Buyer beware!

Other Thoughts: Went through RMA process. MSI replied the card did not qualify for RMA due to product damage. The photo attached with the email was a 1mm cut at a 45 degree angle on the outside corner that was probably done by MSI's production dept. I called customer service multiple times only to leave voicemails which were never returned. My emails were ignored. I will not buy another MSI product due to their lack of quality an the extremely poor customer service.

1 out of 5 eggsThis product is fail.

Pros: Advertised Features -- On paper its a bargain...

Cons: Where to begin? This card started having issues the first month. Over the course of the next several months, not believing the issue was my graphics card, I replaced the PS and Motherboard as well as I re-installed the OS and the issues were not resolved. Finally, I bit the bullet and purchased another manufactures 560Ti and the problems immediately went away. I came here to read feedback from other members and I found reviews that confirmed my fears everyone was having the same issues as me (Artifacts, Driver Crashes, System Lockups). I contacted MSi RMA support by phone and requested an RMA # -- I also inquired about whether or not I could purchase an upgraded card since clearly this model has issues; I was told that was not an option. I spent $25 in shipping/materials/insurance to send the card RMA. I received the return card after about a week and what MSi sent back appears to be a reference design card with a shiny MSi sticker on it and nothing more. It worked for 3 DAYS!!

Other Thoughts: On Monday I will again be contacting MSi RMA Support by phone and again requesting that they allow me to upgrade this card. This hardware design was discontinued by MSi for another series so I do not understand why its not an option when clearly the performance of this design is so unacceptable. I hope to report back with an update of stellar customer service on the part of MSi but I guess we will have to wait and see....

1 out of 5 eggsvery disappointing from MSI

Pros: Fast and powerful card. Used to power an Nvidia 3DVision setup.

Cons: After a month or so began experiencing artifacts in game, random reboots, and hard locks. Underclocking the card to reference clock levels helped for a week, but then the problems returned.

Other Thoughts: Have been happy with MSI motherboards in the past, but this video card has ruined my impression of them. RMA process is going to cost me money, and leave me without a system for several weeks. Should have stuck with EVGA and their lifetime, hassle-free warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsvery disappointing from MSI

Pros: Was a great card when it worked. Powered an Nvidia 3DVision setup, and gave great frame rates even with 3d enabled.

Cons: After a few months started getting artifacting in games, random shutdowns and reboots. Symptoms increased in frequency until I was forced to severely underclock the card from the stock settings to well below the reference clock levels. This helped for a week or so, but now the problems have returned.

Other Thoughts: I've been very happy in the past with MSI motherboard products that I've owned, so I thought I would be safe with an MSI video card. Unfortunately that trust was misplaced, judging by my and many others experience here. Also their warranty support is going to leave me with cash out of pocket and no working system for however long it takes them to replace the card. And chances are the replacement will be just as broken. I have learned my lesson, and will stick to EVGA video cards in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsFrustration all around :(

Pros: I've own this card for approximately three months and it is wonderful when it's working. Plays Battlefield Bad Company 2 at highest settings at 1920x1080 with no problems at all.

Cons: At the factory speeds, the card constantly locks up. CTRL+ALT+DEL or sometimes hard locks with artifacts etc. If I put the card at reference speeds, I can play for hours without issue. As soon as I put it back to the factory speeds, lock ups within minutes; VERY frustrating to buy a card and have to underclock it to get it usable.

Other Thoughts: Learned my lesson on this one, won't be buying any factory over clocked cards from now on.

Manufacturer Response:
