MSI’s R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC graphics card is not only equipped with the latest Twin Frozr III dual fan cooling module, it also incorporates MSI's exclusive Propeller Blade technology for 20% more airflow than conventional fan blade designs. The result is up to 11°C cooler and 13.9dB quieter than the reference thermal solution under full load. The popular PCB architecture from the R6850 Cyclone 1GD5 Power Edition has been retained as well, with Triple Over-Voltage support and a 6+2 phase power delivery system that ensures overclocking potential and stability, achieving up to 21% more performance than the reference HD 6950! By meeting PC gamers’ needs for increased cooling efficiency, an enhanced power supply, improved overclocking potential, and constant stability, the R6950 Frozr III Power Edition/OC is undoubtedly the best HD6950 graphics card available on the market today.

  • newegg Exclusive Twin Frozr III Thermal Design with Propeller Blade Technology The MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC is equipped with the latest Twin Frozr III dual fan thermal solution and MSI-exclusive Propeller Blade technology that features air channels on the edge of the blades to expand total airflow by up to 20%. The twin 8cm PWM fans, heat pipe technology, large surface-area nickel-plated copper base and high fin density all serve to rapidly draw excess heat away from the graphics card. Under full load, the GPU runs 11°C cooler than the reference design, and noise emission is reduced by 13.9 dB—validating the superior cooling performance and silent running advantages of the Twin Frozr III.
  • newegg Triple Over-voltage and 6+2 Phase Power System Supporting triple over-voltage function, the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC graphic card enables you to easily adjust the voltage of the GPU, RAM and VDDCI for more overclocking potential using the MSI-exclusive Afterburner utility. Additionally, a more robust, 6+2 phase power system delivers 37% more power than the reference design to enhance OC stability at high loads.
  • newegg Performance/Silent Modes MSI-exclusive P/S Switch function on the R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC was developed with two fan speed profiles: Performance Mode and Silent Mode. The former emphasizes an enhanced cooling power that can significantly reduce GPU temperature to keep the graphic card at the optimal working condition, while the latter stresses on quiet operations for users to keep noise minimal while playing games or watching a movie. As both modes deliver excellent cooling performance, even the pickiest power users can always keep the environment under control according to their needs.
  • newegg Quality Advancement: Military Class II Materials MSI Military Class II components include the Hi-C tantalum caps with lifespan 8 times longer than solid caps, the SFC high-performance choke which supplies 30% more power, and the all solid caps with a lifespan up to 10 years. With such components, the quality and stability of graphic cards are maximized.
  • newegg Microsoft DirectX 11 Support The very latest in high-speed, high-fidelity gaming and computing, Microsoft DirectX 11 featuring new technologies like Compute Shaders, Direct2D, Multi-threaded Rendering and Tessellation enables not just more visually stunning games, but significant performance improvements in some of your favorite websites and everyday applications.
  • newegg AMD Eyefinity Technology Supporting multiple independent display outputs simultaneously, AMD Eyefinity technology delivers innovative graphics display capabilities enabling massive desktop workspaces and ultra-immersive visual environments for the ultimate panoramic computing experience. The new display interface DisplayPort 1.2 boasts features such as 2560x1600 max resolution per display, 21.6 Gbps bandwidth, multi-stream transport and high bit-rate audio, enabling simple, affordable and flexible multi-display configurations.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: This thing absolutely will not stop. I've been running it as hard as I since 2011 when I bought it. Not once has it hiccuped since then. I've been using it for gaming in a windows environment, mining in 2011 when it was still cost effective for me to do so, and for hashing pass keys in a kinux environment.

Cons: I OC'd it and it started to burn up my surrounding hardware due to my lack of cooling in my case, but the card stayed cool! Even when I was being ignorant and mistreated it, the card still persevered.

Other Thoughts: I am finally looking to upgrade, just because this card is quite out of date now. But even to this day, if it was still available I would buy another one and run them both in my backup machine.

4 out of 5 eggsIt finally died...

Pros: for when I bought it - fast, easy to install

Cons: BF4 and like games are unplayable

Other Thoughts: It finally died, yesterday. Thing worked like a race horse but finally kicked the bucket. First the fans went, then the computer kept shutting down, added a GPU temp widget, found the fans were dead. The GPU overheated enough it died. If this was 2011, I'd buy it all over again. 4 stars because it died, I know I know, but still.

5 out of 5 eggsReally good GFX card!

Pros: Never had any issues with the card over the last year and I've put it through hell. I play demanding games, mine, fold... etc.

I am really impressed by the build quality of the card and love the metal cooler cover. The plastic covers on most cars just look cheesy IMO.

Cons: None that I can think of. It's kinda heavy and sags if you don't tighten the screws while at the same time holding it level... but that's not really an issue.

Other Thoughts: Impressed by MSI this time around.

Pros: Definitely a powerful GPU. Games run smoothly on it, and the temps never go over 65C.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsNever going with MSI again.

Pros: The card is quiet when idling and looks good. It stays at a decent temp most of the time.

Cons: I am going to dive right into this. I purchased this to give it a test run for a bit so then I could crossfire them, I enjoyed the card so I when to purchase another one and guess what, discontinued. This makes me beyond mad because I can't get this card anywhere else and now I have to spend 300 dollars on completely new cards so I can actually work on my video rendering how I was supposed too. I wish I could send it in for a refund at this point but that isn't an option anymore.

Other Thoughts: Well since it's discontinued it doesn't really matter anymore. This is the last night I go with MSI.

3 out of 5 eggsWas good now not so much

Pros: Worked great in Eyefinity configuration for many months.

Cons: Hooked up a monitor that requires DUAL DVI and I can't boot to Windows. I have to boot with a 1080p monitor to get to windows then I can hook up my 2560x1440 IPS monitor after wards. Tried my new monitor on an old Powercolor 4870 and it works perfectly...shame on you MSI...I am opening a ticket.

Other Thoughts: Should check all ports in all possible configurations when I first get video cards from now on. Never had a video card fail me before.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

There's only 1 x Dual-link DVI and the other one is Single-link DVI, please make sure that you are connected to the Dual-link DVI port.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Runs good and cool. Runs Counter Strike: Source on 2560x1600 for me at 550-950fps depending on map and players in the server. All my games are on 2560x1600 and I keep my settings rather high on all of them. No problem running bf3 at all.

Cons: After a few months of having the card it died and I had to rma it.

Other Thoughts: Other than it dying, and the one they sent me as an rma having a bent backplate. Its a fantastic card, I had to use a ziptie to secure it to the case lol.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: I bought this card as a birthday present back in January. This card will play anything I throw at it on all high settings on a 23in monitor! Love this card and would definitely recommended!

Cons: The only con I am having is I can't seem to raise the voltage in the msi afterburner. I have it unlocked but can't move the needle, not a big issue.

Other Thoughts: When I got the card at first my bottom monitor input didn't work so I had to switch to the top. I tried to figure out the problem but I couldn't. I asked some people and they didn't know either. If anyone else knows feel free to advise! (:
