2 out of 5 eggsGood card for price, but...

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: Good value. Works without problems

Cons: Fan quit working. Cannot find replacement fan.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card a couple of years ago so that I could have dual monitors on my old system. It installed easily and worked flawlessly for a year. Then the fan quit working and I could not fan a replacement fan. I finally cannibalized a fan from an old router, trimmed the plastic, and shoehorned it in. It works, but I have to manually start the fan after each power cycle. What a PITA! I will go with a fanless card next time.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggs MSI HD 6450 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 Low Profile Ready Video Card

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: It fits into a SFF case, it does work for HDMI video (after adjusting the overscan) the fan was not noticeable. It does play Blu-ray movies.

Cons: The video performance of this card is below par. In my system (see notes below.) the Windows 7 pro 64 bit Graphics performance was only 4.8.

Other Thoughts: HP 8200 Elite SFF PC 3.3GHz
4 GB ram
500 GB HD
Pioneer BDXL optical disk player
Samsung 40" LCD TV

3 out of 5 eggsGot what I paid for

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: Price
Low power consumption
HDMI upgrade for pc's that don't have one

Cons: Price-its at the top end in price for the 450 series GPU's
Performance is minimal at best for any sort of gaming, there are units for another $20-30 more that will offer 10x the benchmark scores/gaming experience, unfortunately I was building a SFF pc that simply didn't have room for a double slot card so the pickin's were very slim in my case.

Other Thoughts: If you need an hdmi output go for it, otherwise if you are looking for PERFORMANCE go for something better.

2 out of 5 eggsFalse advertising!

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: cheap (but you get what you pay for)

Cons: This card DOES NOT support more than 2 monitors! To quote from the Overview tab:

AMD EYEFINITY TECHNOLOGY
Get immersed in gaming, productivity and entertainment on up to six displays simultaneously. Supporting multiple independent display outputs simultaneously, AMD Eyefinity technology delivers innovative graphics display capabilities enabling massive desktop workspaces and ultra-immersive visual environments for the ultimate panoramic computing experience.

The reason I bought it was to run 3 monitors. It will only support 2 simultaneous independent displays. DO NOT go by the overview tab! Do your research on the card first!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Joshua,
Thank you for the feedback. Please note the video cards have three video ports and it does support dual monitors. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the product, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at usreview@msi.com and we will be more than happy to assist you, thank you.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Late review due to moving.

4 out of 5 eggsThe cost is not the whole story

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: CHEAP!
Can run lower key titles such as Dota, Minecraft, TF2, etc.
Looks nice and is quite.

Cons: Somewhat weak, but can't expect anything great for this price.

Pros: It is working perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI AMD quality

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: cost, size, fan, speed, quality, DVI and HDMI

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: I didn't need a super powerful graphics card, but wanted something that was decent. The 1GB of RAM is plenty for editing pictures as my customer will be doing. It also is nice that it's 2.1, and it works great. The software took an update right after install, and it is performing as expected. The 3D rating in Windows 7 was only 4.6 but the other graphics rating was like 5.9. Not the greatest if you are wanting to game, but for what my customer needs it for he will love it. I like the fan and heat sink, and it has both MSI quality and AMD quality built into it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: I'll start from the beginning...I had this card stored away for at least 1.5 years. Originally bought for our old Win XP Pro computer we now no longer have.

The CPU on our newer home built computer is the i5 4440 -3.1 to 3.3 GHz. For months I was just using the Intel 4600 graphics built into the chip.

My wife loves her SIMS 3 games and has almost every game made. She began complaining about some mild occasional lagging when playing her SIMS 3 games. I pulled up a chair next to her while she was playing and sure nuff, I too seen some lagging.

Since I had the MSI card I decided, why not give it a try and see what happens.

I installed the MSI card, went to the BIOS on our Intel DH87MC mobo, made the switch, booted it up and let my wife have at it.

I was surprised. I really didn't think it would do any better than the 4600 Intel graphics, but it did. All the lagging has ceased.

That was approximately 6 to 7 months ago and nothing has changed. It's still remains superior to the Intel 4600 HD graphics, at least for playing the SIMS 3 games.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Have to give credit to MSI. Since the day I installed this card, I've had at least 3 driver updates notices from the supplied MSI Afterburner software. I did the updates each time and this card keeps working very well. MSI does keep you current with the latest drivers.

I CAN'T give any truthful comments as to how it would do with other games, but for SIMS 3, it is superior to the Intel 4600 Graphics.

3 out of 5 eggsBetter than the mobo video

This review is from: MSI Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11 R6450-MD1GD3/LP 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card

Pros: A well made card with many extras, this card impressed me most with things I have not seen in a long time. Every port (VGA, HDMI and DVI) as well as the PCI-X slot came with a protective cover installed. The fan on the card is (for now) very quiet.

Cons: My main goals in buying the card were to improve the performance of Movies and DVDs and to increase performance on the computer in the Windows Experience report. Gaming Graphics went way up, but Graphices (Aero) actually went down from 4.9 to 4.7.... What the hell????

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for, but it's still a good deal I suppose.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly, verify another power supply.
2. If possible verify the video card on another working system to check.
3. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.
