4 out of 5 eggsnice card

Pros: Very cheap budget card for low budget gamers

this card will run just about any game out there right now, not saying you can max graphics but you can play things with fairly little lag

Cons: for the record, this isnt some one grand card that will destroy any game out there, it isnt meant to be, not knocking an egg for that though

what i will say, is that this card can run a bit on the hot side at times.

Other Thoughts: I had this card for about 4 months before i bought a high end card, this card is beautiful still though and i would definitely buy it again.

1 out of 5 eggsJY

Pros: Cheap for the spec., especially considering the $25 rebate.

Cons: Doesn't work - This is the 2nd one I ordered after experiencing the first one that was DOA (see my review on 8/23/2012). This one initially looked promising - when I plugged it in, and booted my Dell Inspiron 620 (Win 7 Ult. with Intel i5 & 6GB), my Asus HDMI monitor had input, but very big & poor quality graphics. So I installed the driver that came on CD. Although the sizing automatically went back to my original 1080p setting size, the quality was less than my original OEM integrated intel graphic card. The Performance Info score lowered from 5.1 to 4.8. Furthermore, I lost about an inch each on my left and right side of the screen and about 1/2 inch each at top and bottom. I called the tech support at MCI and was told that even this, what I consider a low performance card, is made for full size desktop with at least 400W power, and not for OEM with 300W. However, another tech had told me that the 400W recommended is b/c it was tested at that level, and not the min. required.

Other Thoughts: I then searched Dell website and spoke with its parts sales, and both offered VisionTek AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB PCI Exp card as being compatible with my Inspiron 620 spec. (also sold at Newegg) That one has the same AMD GPU, but requires only 300W. Thinking maybe the 2GB vs the 1GB makes a difference in the power requirement, I checked the same exact MCI card (MSI R6450-MD1GD3/LP) with 1GB, which sells for $5 less at Newegg. But it also requires 400W like the 2GB. Now, I see only one difference between what I bought and the VisionTek card: Different manufacturer who put together the same AMD Radeo HD 6450 GPU. Significantly, a reviewer wrote on 6/19/2012 that the one I bought worked fine on his 225W slimline 64 bit Vista HP PC. Based on my two purchases of the same card made by MCI and only MCI requiring 400W vs VisionTek's 300W requirement, I can only conclude that MCI's products are inferior. I can only come to a conclusion that the first one was a DOA and second one was poorly made

1 out of 5 eggsPitiful False advertising in description

Pros: Can run minecraft barely lol lags a lot i have latest drivers. Runs ok with dual graphics and the a8-3850 apu. Bf3

Cons: 700mhz memory clock not 1333 like the description here says

Other Thoughts: Overrall poor performance for anything youd want to be doing

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This card is a budget graphics card and it is only intended for basic display purposes, its performance is equivalent to other integrated display.
Memory is running at 667MHz and because it's DDR memory therefore it's 1333MHz.

1 out of 5 eggs1st Order DOA

Pros: Cheap - with the $25 rebate, it is the best bargain among the ones with the comparable specs. (Hmm, I wonder why so much rebate on this particular model, other MCI similarly priced ones are only $5 or $10 rebate)

Cons: Dead on arrival - it was easy putting it into my Dell Inspiron 620 PCI Express 2.1X16 slot. Unfortunately, my HDMI monitor says no HDMI input detected.

Other Thoughts: Placed an order for a second one. I hope this one will work. I will post update.

5 out of 5 eggsA major thumbs up!

Pros: Major improvement over mobo graphics. No issues whatsoever since installation on a 225w slimline 64 bit Vista HP pc. Well worth the price any day.

Cons: Haven't come across any since install.

Other Thoughts: About to upgrade a Windows 7 pc with the same stats as above.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, solid card for low-end HTPC use and low power draw...

Pros: Perfect card for multi-monitor, low power consumption, HTPC.

Cons: Newegg falsely advertises this as a 128-bit card. As per the specs on MSI's web site, this is indeed a 64-bit card just like every other 6450. Please don't be fooled by this expecting to be getting some uniquely powerful 6450 with double the normal bandwidth.

Other Thoughts: Whether it's an honest mistake/typo or not, Newegg needs to correct the BUS speed listing on this card to show the correct speed of 64-bit.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: DOA, Would have 0 eggs, but a least 1 required for review. MSI needs to do a better job of checking their products before shipping to open market.

Other Thoughts: This card sounded good, but was gifted to me. DOA nothing works, I have well past the recommend specs. Neweggs, washing hands of anything after 30 days.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes exactly what i bought them for without a hickup

Pros: I bought two of these cards for a couple dell optiplex computers that I am using as HTPC media pcs. The dells only have 275 watt power supplies, so this lower power card worked perfectly. I have thrown 1080p encoded with x264 Hi10P (10bit 264) and the computer handles it no problem. the dells have 2.4ghz core 2 duo cpus.

Cons: none yet, I wouldn't buy one of these cards for gaming, but for a media pc where a lower power, low profile card is required they work excellent.
