Armed with the fastest and most power efficient GeForce GTX 680 GPU NVIDIA ever built, the MSI N680GTX-PM2D2GD5 offers top rated graphics performance. This graphics card also has MSI Afterburner overclocking utility for intuitive overclocking and all solid capacitor for stable & reliable performance.

  • newegg Afterburner Overclocking Utility Co-development by MSI and Rivatuner, MSI graphics card utility “Afterburner” allows you to boost performance and to monitor all kinds of critical information in real-time. It supports GPU/Memory clock offset and power limit control. Real-Time Video Capturing function support allows you to record in-game scenes and share with friends. MSI Afterburner also supports wireless control by android/iOS handheld devices and built-in DX 11 effect test. Afterburner is a completely free utility which is compatible with almost all MSI graphics cards.
  • newegg All Solid Capacitor MSI Solid Capacitor Graphic Card uses high quality solid capacitor for lower temperature, higher efficiency and up to 10 years lifetime. The aluminum core eliminates the possibility of explosion. For the gamers and high-end users, this feature not only means that product has better quality components within, but also provide much stronger support while users want to engage in hard-core tuning.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Nothing is as breathtaking as playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the most part

Pros: Solid GPU
Runs quiet

Cons: Seems weak for the specs/price

Other Thoughts: I had went from an AMD 7850 to this card in March. Honestly not all that impressed by it as it seems to struggle with some games that the 7850 could push on Ultra High 1920x1080.

My brother is still running a 7850 and with both of us having up to date drivers, identical CPU & Ram, it out performs this card most of the time. Even so, it works well enough to still deserve a 4 egg rating, especially since it isn't much stress to over-clock it some to help with the FPS drops it has in some games.

4 out of 5 eggsGood reference card

Pros: Fast

Cons: Doesnt come with an SLI bridge

Other Thoughts: I was a bit annoyed when I bought a second one of these and realized it doesnt come with the SLI bridge. Now I have to buy one separately and wait while I have 2 cards in my computer and one is just sitting there being useless.

1 out of 5 eggsSparks and the smell of burning.

Pros: Great card while it worked. Bought from NewEgg on 4/27/2012 (so lasted just over 8 months).

Cons: While the computer was in sleep mode, the fan on card randomly went into high-gear and didn't stop. By the time I got across the room I could already smell burning plastic.

Shut computer down, opened up the side panel, reseated the card and check all the cables. Powered back up and sparks literally shot out about 2 feet with a small smoke trail. Powered back down.

Installed my old GTX460 and comp runs fine, same cables. I don't dare plug the 680 back in.

Will attempt to call MSI customer service tomorrow since it's outside NewEgg's return time.

Other Thoughts: Specs of computer:
850W PS
Intell i5 2500k
8Gb ram
SSD HD
GIGABYTE GA-Z68X motherboard
Windows 7 64bit

5 out of 5 eggsÜber speeds but cool temps

Pros: Super smooth game play in BF3, higher and more stable FPS than my previous HD 5870 Crossfire setup.
Ever since the 8800GTX days video cards do get faster each generation but also get hotter. Kepler architecture is superior, performance exceed the 7970 and 580 by good fps but you get lower temps than previous generation. The pattern now starts to change due to the die getting smaller. Faster the card video cards but cooler temps.
I have mine overclook +100 on both GPU and ram but my temps only reach 80c. This is recorded after play an hour of BF3 and GPU usage around 99%
Good solid drivers, now using WHQL 306.23

Cons: Doesn't like S3 sleep on Intel x58 boards.

2 out of 5 eggsWhen it Worked, It Worked

Pros: I replaced my 470 GTX Fermi with this card. After I installed it with clean drivers, etc... the performance was quite astounding. There were significant FPS improvements in all of the games I typically play (Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2...) The card seemed to run cooler than my previous card.

Cons: The only con I have, and the biggest one, is that the card burnt up in less than a day of ownership. I don't know if I was simply given a faulty unit or UPS handled it poorly during shipment or what.

Other Thoughts: I literally turned my machine off to run to the store and came back only to find that the system wouldn't boot. I opened the case back up to find a hefty amount of smoke coming from the card. I'm surprised it wasn't on fire due to how lit up it was. I just want a replacement card that works!

5 out of 5 eggsWow, what a card....

Pros: Fast, superb image quality, good price compared to competition, surprisingly quiet cooler. FXAA and TXAA to come, Adaptive Vsync is a great feature.

Cons: Availability stinks, took me a week to get this one.

Other Thoughts: I tend to change my video cards every 2-3 months, previous video cards include the GTX 580, HD 7970 and HD 7950 CF. This is the first video card that I have wanted to keep for longer, this card was the sole reason for upgrading my monitor to 2560x1600 and now I want more power so will be adding a second GTX 680 or selling this one and buying a pair of GTX 670's. I was concerned that 2gb of memory would be an issue compared to the 3gb of AMD, but I have not experienced any stutter or slowdown associated with ram swapping. Retail cooler is pretty good compared to fermi, but I still think that Nvidia cheap out on stock cooler. I have mine running on water and have 24/7 oc of +150 on core and +400 on memory. Benchmarking at +180 on core and +600 on memory gives me a score of 10,300 plus in 3D mark 2011. Great card, recommended.
