The MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC graphics card ships with NVIDIA’s fastest and most power efficient GPU - GeForce GTX 680. The revolutionary Kepler architecture as well as bunch of advanced technologies enables astonishing graphics performance. When used with MSI’s Afterburner overclocking software, the MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC supports GPU overvoltage function to fully unleash the overclocking potential. The Twin Frozr III thermal design with propeller blade technology and all solid capacitors ensure stable and reliable performance.

  • newegg Exclusive Twin Frozr III Thermal Design with Propeller Blade Technology The MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC is equipped with the latest Twin Frozr III dual fan thermal solution and MSI-exclusive Propeller Blade technology that features air channels on the edge of the blades to expand total airflow by up to 20%. The twin 8cm PWM fans, heat pipe technology, large surface-area nickel-plated copper base and high fin density all serve to rapidly draw excess heat away from the graphics card. Under full load, the GPU runs 22°C cooler than the reference design, and noise emission is reduced by 10.2dB—validating the superior cooling performance and silent running advantages of the Twin Frozr III.
  • newegg Afterburner Co-development by MSI and Rivatuner, MSI graphics card utility “Afterburner” allows you to adjust the fan speed, adjust GPU & memory clocking speeds in real time, and tune the voltage of the GPU to completely unleash its power. A real-time monitoring interface and burn-in stability test give gamers the power to control the card's overclocking status at any time. MSI Afterburner also supports wireless control by android/iOS handheld devices and built-in DX 11 effect test. Afterburner is a completely free utility which is compatible with almost all MSI graphics cards.
  • newegg All Solid Capacitors The MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC graphics card utilizes high quality solid capacitor for lower temperature, higher efficiency and up to 10 years ultra-long lifetime (under full load). The aluminum core eliminates the risk of explosion. For the gamers and high-end users, this feature not only means that product has better quality components within, but also provide much stronger support while users want to engage in hard-core tuning.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.

Pros: Check Previous Review

Cons: Check Previous Review

Other Thoughts: I have tried out Crysis 3 and with 2 of these cards in SLI and OCed they only top out at about 70% with the game COMPLETELY maxed out at 1080p and used only 1.5gigs the cards ram

Pros: Overclocks well. Got my primary card to hit 1254MHz and my secondary card to 1267MHz. (sure i could get 1300+ if i spent another few hours fine tuning the settings.)

Got the memory up 3800MHz

Doesnt go over 70c under full load. (even then the fans are very quite and are only being put up 50%)

All of the following numbers are rough averages.

Starcraft II Wings of Liberty at max settings takes 1 card at 55% load. 70-80 FPS. (Videos can take it 99%, 30 FPS (Sooo much detail.)

World of Tanks at max settings takes 1 card at 50% load. 60-80 FPS

Dead Space 3 at max settings (with AA and few other things enabled) take both my cards between 60-100% load up to 230 FPS in game. 30 FPS for scenes.

Minecraft standard texture pack. up to 4000 FPS. (never looked at the load %)

Im still waiting on my Crysis 3 copy to get here.
Haven't gotten to play any more games other than those.

Cons: Coming from Intel's HD 3000 to 2 of these monsters in SLI,
well it's not like I would notice any cons what so ever.

without a stock cooler card I cant know for sure but I feel disappointed by the cards cooling solution and that its performance is marginally better than a stock solution (though it performs well. A few degrees can make a difference)
I'll be putting new thermal paste on the cards within a few months time. (whenever i feel like it)

The fans when you start putting them at 60% or higher will start to "yell" at you. But you have to use MSIs afterburner to get them that high.
The noise doesn't bother me though when I set my fan profile up for stress benchmarks.

Running on 1440p settings at ultra the 2GB of RAM fills up instantly (Hopefully its enough to run my coming TV at 2560x1080p (120hz))

These 2 cards made my current tv look beautiful. I never new the tv could have such a picture.

Other Thoughts: My first brand new desktop built from scratch. Never had any dedicated video cards before either. These are amazing!
(Consoles are getting worse, so I moved to PC gaming.)

I've ran many benchmarks with 2 of these in SLI.
Very good scores. SLI runs through Catzilla very well (112 avg FPS) One card on its own still managed to average 30 FPS and thats with OpenGL. Directx11 runs around 60 FPS

Overclocked them to 1254MHz. At that speed 1 card is enough for high/ultra settings in 1080p of last years games (2012)

I wish movies were made to be rendered by graphics cards because any video rendering (I'm thinking of SC2 scenes) Looks amazing and just shy of real.

I hope these cards can serve me for a long time.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card! Still kinda expensive.

Pros: Great performance in games and full Hackintosh compatibility in Mountain Lion. The Twin Frozr is VERY quiet. Exceeded my expectations on noise for sure. All around, a great buy.

Cons: It's pretty expensive, but I feel like I won't need a video card for several years. My last card was the amazing Sapphire 5870, which is still going strong in my other computer. If this one lasts as long, I definitely got my money out of it.

Other Thoughts: Try to find it on sale. Don't let the enclosure fool you, it's very well built and quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific card

Pros: This is the coolest card I have ever owned. It's fast as heck too. No problems with drivers or installation. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Cons: Nothing as of yet and I've been using this card for 2 months every day.

5 out of 5 eggsI picked the Right One!

Pros: I struggled on choosing what manufacturer/model of the gtx 680 I wanted! But I am glad I went with this card, with stock fan profiles I am idling at 29c, and even while maxing out my GPU using evga oc scanner the highest temp I saw was 65c...before this card I owned a reference style gtx 580 from evga and my temps where a lot higher, which is why I didn't want to go with reference style cooling this time around!

Cons: None yet, only on 1st day though...Done all my stress testing with no alerts so I am hoping I got a good card! Only time will tell!

4 out of 5 eggsGTX 680 Twin Frozer II

Pros: Great card! I have had no real issues with the card I have not over clocked further (Yet) only because it can get a bit louder then they really lead you on to believe.

MSI updates for the installation are pretty easy though you will more then likely need to do a BIOS update as I had to. (For comparison I am using a MSI 990FXA-GD65 motherboard)

Card is roughly 9 and a half inches I am putting this as a pro cause for a 680 you could do a hell of a lot worse.

Cons: Noise is really all that brings this card down. If you have a headset then its not really an issue as it really only ramps up during game play. Overclockers beware though I have not overclocked yet noise will most likly increase as you go up.

I did have to do a RMA but, not holding that against the card it happens.

Seems to be a VERY high pitch that comes from the card every now and again. After awhile it seems to of subsided. I have heard of cards doing this before but, its just something to keep in mind a guess.

Other Thoughts: I really am happy with the quality of the card.
