4 out of 5 eggsFought me like a rabit tiger, but I BEAT IT IN THE END!

Pros: The lowest cost way to get a three monitor configuration. This is a good card, especially at the price of the refurbished model.

Cons: Without this post, configuring this card to run three monitors will be very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: OK, here's what I discovered: Use a Coboc active DVI to displayport adaptor on the displayport. Use a HDMI cord for monitor two. But here's where it gets tricky: The on card DVI-I port will only output an analog signal. I had to use a single link DVI-I to VGA adaptor on this port. This magically woke up the 3rd monitor! I was so excited I did a happy dance! When a DVI-D cable is plugged in the on board DVI port the card will not detect any monitors connected to the DVI port OR the HDMI port. Seems like MSI should have included this info.

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: fast. easy to use software and has nice back display.
has conversion cord with it to mount to older monitors too.

Cons: takes up considerable room in case. make sure you account for it and where it mounts to your mobo and the cpu heat sink

1 out of 5 eggsHaving issues with freezing

Pros: Good card for low-use and low resolution. Performance wise Source Engine games run at 60 fps on high with a 1600x900 resolution. Most game from 2014 or older will run on medium graphics at about 60 fps. Before I upgraded my monitor was 1024x1280, and everything ran significantly better using it.

Cons: I've been having issues where the display will freeze anywhere from 3-15 seconds about three-four times a day while a game is running. I've read other reviews where the card died after 3-4 months and I've had this thing for 2. My computer had no issues with this before I used this video card.

Other Thoughts: My card hasn't died yet but I plan on replacing it and I will not buy from MSI again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly..
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. If possible verify the MSI video card on another working system to check.
4. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going Strong after 1 Year!

Pros: Great Video Quality.
Overclocked out of the Box.
Runs Cool, even after 10+ hours of use.
Great Bargain at the Time.
WEI score has increased from initial install from 7.4 to 7.5 with only AMD Catalyst drivers installed!

Cons: Wished the NVIDIA cards of today were out then!

One other, and it may be my monitor, audio doesn't always kick in when using DisplayPort (requiring a reboot), though it's 'supposed' to be a greater standard. I should have listened to my friends, and purchased a monitor with two HDMI ports. We live & learn.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up review of my initial purchase on 02/03/2014.

Card has exceeded what I expected for the price, still runs very cool, my PC runs for hours every day, sometimes 10+ hours between reboots. Very quiet, the only time it makes a little noise is during diagnostic testing. The heat will rise a bit (about 50C), then drop right back to the low 30's after graphic test is complete.

MSI is a really good brand of products, also have one of their notebooks, purchased here at Newegg, and have had no issues with either.

When I upgrade to a NVIDIA card in the not too distant future, I'll be sure to get an MSI one, as Quality is in their DNA. This one can easily be used on a spare PC. It won't be in storage long.

For a 1st time GPU upgrade, this has been an excellent card. It's installed on a Dell XPS 8700.

5 out of 5 eggsstill going strong after over a year

Pros: After over a year still not having any issues with the video card for the most part.. I was satisfied enough with it to purchase a second one for use in another PC... but...

Cons: ... I do realize it could be just me (user error?)... I also realize that computers are finicky beasts, what one computer likes another might dislike for a million various reasons that have to do with programming that are beyond me.. having said that, oddly enough I noticed when I switched from a DVI-D cable to HDMI cable the monitor started having problems, shutting itself off every time the computer turned off, had to turn the power button off and back on again on the monitor (AOC e2752Vh 27 inch monitor).. it could be a problem with the monitor itself and have nothing to do with the video card.. once I switched back to a DVD-D cable (which let's face it are cheap as heck nowadays so not a real problem at all) it eliminated the problem.. weird...

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the right build

Pros: Quiet. Runs cool with fan kept on 40%. OCable with Catalyst Control Center.

Cons: It is a solid entry level gaming card. I wanted to upgrade the graphics in my apu build. My apu (a10-6700) graphics could run smite on med/high at 70fps. Now I am high/ultra at 80fps. Firefall I was on low with apu. Now I am on high. All games listed run @ 1080p. FYI the 7770 is not hybrid crossfire compatible with richland apus. I have tried, it is just too much for the apu to keep up with. Also - be sure to disable the apu gpu in your bios if you add on a dedicated gpu or else the system ram will still be allocated to the non functional gpu.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Well for a price to performance range it is a very good card. You can run games on high around 50fps.

Cons: For a bit more money you can get a higher performance card.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad for my first GPU

Pros: For a budget build, this was great. Parts and all including this GPU, I hit a little over $300 for decent performance and amazing graphics

Cons: Fan on the card takes up two spaces, but that was expected... its my bad planning on the motherboard I can use the slot under it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but slightly trumped by Sapphire

Pros: Good price/performance ratio at time of buying ($80 after rebate, Q1 2014). Modestly cheaper than Sapphire or EVGA. Both OpenCL and gaming graphics perform well.
Slightly better/luckier in scrypt cryptocurrency mining than Sapphire 100358L (not particularly diagnostic of performance).

Cons: Louder fan than Sapphire equivalent.
Slightly less gaming performance than Sapphire.
Runs 1-3C hotter than Sapphire during extended gaming.
VRAM is slightly slower/lower overclock available than Sapphire (I cannot remember the speeds/timings off the top of my head; they were configurable via OpenCL drivers).

Other Thoughts: I got this device to add to my cryptocurrency mining efforts and crossfire with my Sapphire 100358L for gaming.

I have noticed an inconsistent ~1-2% decrease in OpenCL mining performance (in MHashes/s) with CFX enabled. When I added the card, my mining share success rate roughly doubled, as expected. After optimizing my settings, I ended up with almost identical MHash/s rates on the GPUs.

The card by itself performs maybe 2-4% poorer than the Sapphire in gaming (I do not have the benchmarks off the top of my head). In CFX mode, I get a 70-75% increase in graphics performance (representative benchmark below).

Tomb Raider Benchmark
FPS min/max/ave
CF disabled: 20.1/41.5/30.5
CF enabled: 35.0/62.1/52.9
Gain (%): 74.1/49.6/73.4

Other game benchmarks findings were consistent with the above.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price Performance Point

Pros: Plays things like Left4Dead, Dead Island, Skyrim, Witcher 2 & 3 and the like with a lot of the eye candy turned on. Low power draw and quiet operation.

Cons: wasn't free.

Other Thoughts: Bought this about 10 months ago to run an HTPC that's hooked up to my tv. I wanted to do some gaming too. For a bargain basement price, this card has been able to handle everything I've thrown at it using moderate- to high-quality settings. Haven't fiddled around with any over-clocking so I can't speak to that. No regrets, would do it all over again.
