A great blend of performance, quality and value, the MSI GeForce GTX 650 VGA card offers the perfect entry point to DirectX 11 gaming for budget-conscious users. Based on the industry-leading 28nm Kepler architecture, the MSI GeForce GTX 650 card delivers exhilarating graphics power with power SMX shaders and abundant amount of memory. You can feel the performance punch in the latest gaming and demanding application. A host of NVIDIA GTX features such as NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync, NVIDIA Surround, TXAA AntiAliasing, NVIDIA PhysX offers you more than one way to elevate your gaming experience. Besides performance, all solid capacitors and exceptional cooling with Propeller Blade technology guarantee superior reliability and stability for you to game hard in demanding conditions.

  • newegg Superior Cooling Large cooling fan with high quality heatsink delivers efficient and effective heat removal under any load level. Propeller Blade Technology generates 20% more airflow than traditional fan design. The grooved surface on the fan blade further extends the range of air flow for optimized cooling.
  • newegg All Solid Capacitors This card adopts all solid capacitors which feature aluminum core without explosion. The premium solid capacitor enables lower temperature, higher efficiency, and 10 years ultra-long lifetime (under full load), allowing you to game hard with full confidence.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Nothing is as breathtaking as playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.
  • newegg TXAA AntiAliasing Antialiasing helps to smooth out jagged lines in games. Existing techniques like MSAA are effective at removing jagged lines in still images but struggle with crawling and shimmering artifacts when the player is in motion. TXAA is a new antialiasing mode that combines MSAA, temporal filtering, and post processing for the highest edge quality and minimal shimmering during gameplay.
  • newegg NVIDIA PhysX Technology Full support for NVIDIA PhysX technology, enabling a totally new class of physical gaming interaction for a more dynamic and realistic experience with GeForce.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing and Discouraging

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Not compatible with my new MSI motherboard. Didn't work.

Other Thoughts: After exchanging the first card for another one because it wasn't working in my new system the second one didn't work either. So I started talking to MSI tech support and after several days of going back and forth we concluded that the video card and motherboard were not compatible even though they were both made by MSI.
If you plan on buying an MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2 main board then don't get this graphics card.

After sending the first one back at my expense, taking an $18 hit on the restocking fee and sending the second one back for a refund at my expense I will have paid $40 and many many hours of testing and messing around for a card that doesn't work and I still need to get another card. I will never buy another MSI video card again. This is my second time in 4 years buying one and this one was worse than the first one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
This card should work fine with the motherboard that you've mentioned. If you want, we can perform testing using the same configuration, please email us at usreview@msi.com if you want us to verify this for you

Thank you.

Best Regards,

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs every game I play on the highest settings... Aion, SWToR, STO, X3 trilogy, Secret World, and so on... Great for most any game that doesn't run the Crytek engine. For the price, it's awesome for my needs.

Cons: Some distance rendering glitches... Some foliage layers in certain games overlap and show through each other. Will probably have to replace in a year or so as games become more process intense and bog this card down.

3 out of 5 eggsNice card but found compatibility issues

Pros: Not a bad price for a capable graphic card; running it in an older machine posted respectable benchmarks on 3DMark. Its roughly 30-50% slower than the 650 Ti.
Good cooling, software with it was great.

Cons: Didn't work with MSI 990FXA-GD80V2 AM3+ Motherboard. The motherboard kept posting a 99 debug code and wouldn't allow the system to boot. But the card worked perfectly fine in my Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AM3+ and my Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/mempipe motherboard. Placing a Quadro FX 4500 and geforce 650 Ti in the MSI board and it worked just fine. This video card will simply not work, after flashing bios for motherboard and legacy bios for the video card I gave up.
It's roughly half a Geforce 650 Ti, which is only $30-40 more so getting this card unless on a tight budget wouldn't be satisfactory

Other Thoughts: This is my first MSI Graphic card and I wasn't exactly pleased with it simply not working in an MSI board. The problem could possible have something to do with the UEFI GOP but I stopped there as theres nothing I can do more if the legacy bios don't work.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
0x99 indicates "Super I/O initialization", please verify with another graphics card on the same motherboard (990FXA-GD80).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plays Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 with everything maxed out...okay just kidding.

Nice price after rebate, performance is good for the price. Easy set up and works great.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I got this for my young sons computer as he doesn't play any real demanding games. I was surprised the rebate process went so smoothly, I got it very quickly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Dedicated PhysX

Pros: This card is quiet and cool. I'm running it as a dedicated PhysX card and it works great (Hybrid PhysX) in conjunction with my XFX HD 6950 2GB. Batman AC runs 40-50 frames on high settings with high physx. Borderlands 2 runs 60-70 frames with max settings and physx on high. I haven't tested the card running by itself but I'm sure it would run great, I'm going to test it later on.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: My Rig:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE OC'd 4.0ghz
Asus m5a99x Evo mobo

Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU Cooler

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: It works well for the games i like to play. Assassin's Creed 3, Skyrim, Starcraft 2 are my favorites and they look more beautiful now played on High settings.

Cons: The card is long for my case. I have a mid sized tower, and I had to squeeze it in there. It fits and everything works great.

Other Thoughts: People complained about it being a loud card, but that has not been my experience.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI GTX 650: So far, so good

Pros: Price/performance point
Cooling
Accessories

Cons: None noted

Other Thoughts: Easy install; used the existing nVidia driver from the gt8800 it replaced. Improvement seemed much better than the .6 improvement in the Winscore. Reason for purchase was the need for HDMI out and 1920x1080 resolution for connection to new HD TV. Installed on a lower-end gaming/HTPCmachine.

Card specifics: A bit longer than I thought; not clear why they made the fan shroud so long. ( probably an airflow-engineering answer) . Well built/sturdy feeling. Included is the mini-tp-full HDMI adapter. AfterBurner software is the best. Uses 2 slots.

5 out of 5 eggsgood enough for me

Pros: Runs BF3 at 70-90 FPS on low now that I overclocked it. Was cheap after rebate.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I Just wanted a card to give me more FPS in BF3. I don't really care about quality in games.
