4 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: -60fps 1080p on most games
-Wide range of connectors
-Small for a graphics card

Cons: -The fans, loud above 45%. Luckily it doesnt get above 45 most of the time. I plan on buying an aftermarket cooler for this card if I dont manage to get the fans to a decent level.

Other Thoughts: Fan started rattling 11 months in, quickly solved by MSI's rma team and they sent me a refurb. RMA took 1 week 3 days from the point I shipped it. Great job MSI!

4 out of 5 eggsno probs here

Pros: Paired with my older i5 system, this thing continued to produce outstanding results as usual from amd cards.
Will never use geforce again.
MSI variant is an outstanding card all around, didn't bother with their software although i will dabble with the oc edition of my r9 270.

Cons: Did not honor my rebate, very dissapointing.
I jumped through all the hurdles,,,,twice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Graphics Card

Pros: This graphics card performs great with almost anything i throw at it. I think the only game that doesn't get good fps at high quality would be Crysis 3.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsStill doing great

Pros: -Not too large very quiet

Cons: None for what it is (which is a legend)

Other Thoughts: Well owning this card for nearly a year I can say without a doubt it's the best newegg purchase I ever made and I have purchases from newegg dating back to 2001 even though they don't have anywhere near all my purchases linked in my profile for some reason (likely my email changes). One of my fist purchases here was the old Soyo Dragon KT 266a motherboard (VIA based).

Back to the MSI HD 7870, I do also own and use a Twin Frozr MSI GTX 660TI that I bought locally from someone upgrading to a GTX 780. I use both an AMD FX 8350 rig and also an Intel I5 4670K rig. I would be fine with either card in either rig and I have tested extensively both MSI cards in both rigs. The HD 7870 is an average of 5-15 FPS slower in most games vs. the GTX 660TI at the same resolutions. However a few games favor the HD 7870 by 5-10 FPS. Keep in mind the MSI GTX 660TI twin Frozer is basically slightly a cut down GTX 670. Right now I have the HD 7870 in the Intel rig and the 660Ti in the AMD system. The HD 7870 is a tad quieter but both cards are remarkably quiet compared to other vendors cards. MSI makes and designs very good cards and very good fan ramping speeds.

It plays any game @ 1680x1050 @ ultra ~ 1080p on high and many games ultra settings at 1080p playable FPS (and then some usually). Rarely does this card dip below 50 in any game even the most demanding.

Also a final note I have no coil wine -- like ever. It's likely a bad card for others complaining about that like the previous review mentioned, and that happens with any vendor unfortunately.

Here is a toast the best video card value possibly ever offered when newegg had this beast @ $130.00.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI 7870

Pros: Have had this card since late August 2013 and haven't had any issues with it. Runs Skyrim maxed out with the best graphics mods including ENBS and it stays at around 50-60 and never goes below 40. Stays at 38 degrees Celsius and goes to around 45-50 while playing games. As for the noise level its practically silent with the fan on auto.

Don't know why people are saying there is coil whine because i haven't experienced any. they probably just got a bad card.

Cons: -None at all, runs exactly as a thought I would for this $ range of a card.

1 out of 5 eggsCoil Whining nightmare!!!

Pros: It's a good graphics card. Plays intensive graphics games. But don't buy MSI. Buy from other manufacturers instead

Cons: It has a very loud coil whining sound( whizzing sound when the card draws power). At first, I thought I'll get used to it, but it gets louder and louder. But there, it was not RMA eligible and I have to call manufacturer. Now It's 6 months and im sorry I bought this.

Other Thoughts: It will not be covered by MSI warranty as tried registering to their website. Tries to get a lot if personal information from buyer and also you have to upload .jpg images of serial and and receipt which is too bothersome. I would avoid buying products from MSI

1 out of 5 eggsDisplayPort Fails Daily

Pros: Great performance per dollar at the Wattage I wanted, when it works.

Cons: The HDMI and DisplayPort outputs sometimes tear. The DisplayPort output fails daily (messed up lines on the screen), leading me to need to do a blind command prompt reboot / shutdown. All outputs fail simultaneously occasionally, leading me to have to do a hard power-down, essentially crashing the computer. When it does fail, it seems to happen when some type of video shows up when browsing (ad, youtube, etc.), though that is not the only time.

Other Thoughts: I'm not overclocking, I'm using the drivers that CCC wants me to use, and these monitors worked fine on my previous NVIDIA card. I did use driver tools to remove all traces of the NVIDIA drivers. I've combed some reviews, and I can't see others with the same problems, but I'm considering going back to NVIDIA, because I just didn't have these quirks.
