5 out of 5 eggsMSI HD 7970

Pros: This card is a screamer. I have been using it for hardcore gaming, streaming, video capture, and other applications for the past 6 months. It was on sale when I bought it and I used a gift card so it was under the 150 dollar price point. It has never crashed on me and all the updates seem to run seamlessly. It's also quiet and runs at a cool 41 degrees C. Best gfx card for your money even over the R 270's which just came out. The benchmark tested better than the new gen cards as well. I also enjoy the look of the brushed aluminum on the card itself. Very slick looking card.

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate with power info from questions

Pros: Low Idle power draw! And card has no high speed coil whine issues at load fan operation...

Runs anything I want it to run @ stock, but I am not a hardcore gamer. Just some SC2 and old games, Portal 2 and the like once in a while.

Cons: no

Other Thoughts: "I can actually. I will update one of my reviews. For now, here are the stats in my particular machine, using GPU-Z: Idle: 0.3A @12.06V VDDC is 0.850V with spikes to 1.2V. The current is anywhere between 0.01V and 2.3V. Load: (Kombustor/Furmark for a few minutes): 133.8A @ 11.66V Current and VDDC with the heavy load numbers as they're the same. Heavy load: (More time): 190.3A @ 12V VDDC is 1.256V, and the current in held at 17.5 or below the moment the card came under load. I don't bother overclocking, this card is already overkill for all gaming I do. Under full load, it never rose above 75C*. Fans were fine." Taken from answer to a question emailed to me.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad I bought when i did

Pros: Everything. 3rd 7970 in a tri-fire set up. Easy to put on a slight overclock use CCC (to match my other two cards - Sapphires)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If prices today were what they were when I bought it I'd buy a 4th just for grins

3 out of 5 eggsOverly Hot!

Pros: Price Comparison with Nvidia

Cons: Heat. Playing Planetside 2 card gets up into to lower 90's c, and this is with stock settings. Seems to run overly hot to me. Noise is another con, but this goes hand in hand with the heat....the hotter the faster the fan spins....ie more noise.

Other Thoughts: Seems to me the heat is on the high side for out of the box settings.

3 out of 5 eggsNot great.

Pros: This is the best 7970 that i have had out of the 2. It runs most game on high. The other was a gigabyte card.

Cons: It is always running hot to me. I would get to 85C in some games and raise my case temp by 15c. I had a crossfire setup and I did not like it. It only work well in one game.

Other Thoughts: It is not bad for the money, but if you plenty I would go with the 780ti. I love it.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted a month

Pros: Worked great when it worked to bad it wasn't very long

Cons: After only 1 month of use it gave out on me. Brand new computer built from ground up and couldn't even last a month of casual gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst one was DOA, but.....

Pros: Fast
Quiet

Cons: First one was DOA but that's not Neweggs fault

Other Thoughts: I bought this as an upgrade to my 5850 and when the first one arrived, I spent a day and a half trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. It ended up being a dead card. I called Newegg to get a RMA with a shipping label, which was very easy, and sent it out. The service rep that I spoke to was very friendly and everything was setup in a matter of about 5 minutes. Took about 10 business days for the dead card to be shipped back and the new one sent to me. I put the card in, fired up the PC, installed the drivers, and wow, what a card. It's quieter than my 5850 and I just ran Far Cry 3 on ultra with Fraps at 55-75 FPS. I've got an intel i5 2500k non overclocked, so I think I could get a little bit more if I wanted. I'll have to wait and see, though, since I bought this card for Battlefield 4.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: The reason I choose this is because I need at least 3 monitors for my work as a sys admin and want to also be able to play games across all 3 for fun.

*Excellent Card for high resolutions and multi-monitor, runs anything I tried at max on 3 monitors for me with no stutters

*mini display port is a plus for me because adapters are more plentiful and better quality

Cons: *I only got this card because my old one stopped working with 3 monitors, this card is completely overkill, if you only game on one monitor then don't waste your money on this, you could downgrade all the way to a 5770 and play most of today's games on fairly high settings with good fps, if you play on 1080p get a 7770 unless the price is drastically lowered on this. If you are having a problem and this isn't true for you its because you have some other bottleneck on you're pc and don't need a video card.

*mini display port may be a CON in your scenario if you need to use the monitor/TV's audio on a 3rd or 4th display
