5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card For a Great Price

Pros: Pc gamer here and I have had a great time using this card.

Max res for Planetside 2, Battlefield 3, Star Craft 2, and i can speculate that this card will hold up for current titles as well.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great card for the price

4 out of 5 eggsSolid card, especially for price

Pros: -quiet
-reasonable performance
-bundled games
-overlocks well

Cons: technology is somewhat obsolete in light of more recent AMD offerings - the R7 265 offers a better price/performance ratio, IMO, for this class of card (despite being more expensive than the 260x).

Other Thoughts: I managed to overclock my core to 1230 without touching the voltage. The card is surprisingly capable for what it is - Witcher 2 in 1080p runs quite well on Medium, and passably (30-45fps) on High with AA turned off! Games like Skyrim and Dishonored run fantastic on Ultra settings.

Works well enough with Linux, although I had an issue the other day where, having previously run the official AMD Catalyst drivers for this card, upon running some Ubuntu updates my desktop stopped displaying. Little annoyances, but this is probably more of a Linux issue than anything.

Afterburner is great for OC. I used it with Unigine Heaven to tweak the card. I didn't touch the voltages, just wanted to see what could be achieved "safely", and wound up with a really high stable clock rate. Very impressed on that front with this card.

But... as mentioned in my cons, with a 128-bit memory bus and other chipset limitations, you can't expect too much from this card. I suspect if you bought it now, you would definitely be interested in buying another card by the end of next year. I can't imagine things like Witcher 3 etc will be kind to this hardware.

Still, for sub 1OO prices that you can find this model at, it's hard to object at all - a great entry into a performance card for a budget build, and certainly all older games are fair game at 1080p if you are flexibly on your graphics settings.

2 out of 5 eggsToo unstable for me

Pros: Performs well under load without over heating and was a good value on paper

Cons: When this card is under load it was performing as expected in my Dell XPS9000 with Win 7 OS. However, I kept having random system freezes with the card under low load or idle. The screen would go blank and the keyboard unresponsive. A system hard restart was the only option to get up and running again. I went through several generations of drivers with complete uninstall between each installation with no change in system hang behavior. I contacted MSI and they said I could RMA the card, but if it tested out OK, they would be sending it back. Again the system crashes were quite random and spaced out and never when the card was being pushed. So there was a good chance that they would not find a problem in their limited time testing or possibly the card would be OK in a Win 8 box with PCI 3 vs 2.1. Finally, with the last driver update from AMD, they list numerous unresolved problems including idle time crashes. I fear that I am going to screw up my hard drives, etc. with these repetitive hard restarts.

Other Thoughts: I replaced card with a flawless NVidia GTX 750Ti and wished I never had the flawed Radeon R7 260x. The 750Ti is about the same price and it performs better as well. We will see how well the RMA process will go after 3 months of ownership, unless someone wants this card used on the cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the Money

Pros: Plays almost any game at good resolutions
Low price

Cons: Drivers can cause trouble in games. Battlefield 3 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 crashed constantly until combo of updating to beta drivers and changing wait state in Windows 7 to allow more time before flagging a video crash.

Other Thoughts: Took a while to troubleshoot problem, but now runs like a champ.

3 out of 5 eggsI've had some troubles

Pros: It works really well with most of the latest games available. I have yet to come across a game it could not handle.

Cons: Ever since I got the card there has been some issues. I get random black screens that require a hard reset. I get bsod errors that are linked to the graphics card. I get artifacts after only about 1 or 2 hours of gaming. I'm not really sure what's going on. I got the drivers from the msi website so I know i'm installing the latest drivers available. Yet I still get these errors.

Other Thoughts: I thought these issues would go away after some time. It's been about 4 months and they're still present. It's a really good graphics card when it works properly.

1 out of 5 eggsRandom BSOD

Pros: Works great when it actually works.

Cons: After about a month of usage, the graphics card will cause a blue screen on a random basis. Tried multiple drivers including the latest one but have yet to come across a fix. Would not recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Budget GPU!

Pros: Plays all modern games at MEDIUM to HIGH settings at 1080p (1920x1080) resolution! With frame rate averages of 40 to 60 fps!

Crysis 3 (Medium): 46 fps
Battlefield 4 (High): 45 fps
Tomb Raider 2013 (Ultra, No tesselation): 53 fps
Thief (High, No tesselation): 47 fps
Batman Arkham Origins (Normal/High): 55 fps
Sniper Elite 3 (Ultra, No tessellation): 53 fps
Grid 2 (Ultra, Only CMMA): 51 fps
Skyrim (Ultra w/HD texture pack installed, AF 4x): 56 fps

Fan Noise:

Very quite, you'll ONLY hear it if you manually turn the fan speed up to 80 to 100 %. If your case has good ventilation you shouldn't need to set the fan speed more than 60%.

Temperature: Stays at 55-60 degrees Celsius at full load and about 31 degrees at idle (tested temps with Crysis 3 and Firestrike).

Cons: There really aren't any. People say that the drivers don't work, or that the gpu is loud, etc.
but that is simply not true. This is an awesome gpu for the price!

Other Thoughts: My system specs:

Rosewill Challenger Black (mid-tower, 3 case fans)
AMD X4 750K 3.4 ghz. quad-core (cpu)
MSI A78-ME35 FM2+ (motherboard)
This GPU
Kingston Hyperx Fury 2x4 gb. (8 gb. total) 1600mhz. (RAM)
Western Digital Blue 1 tb. 7200 rpm (hard drive)
Corsair CX 500w modular edition (power supply)
