3 out of 5 eggsNot too bad

Pros: Cheap, will perform ok

Cons: The MSI Version of the 7770 while older will still out perform this card by a lil bit

Other Thoughts: not bad if on a budget and building for someone who isnt a hardcore gamer

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Price to Performance

Pros: Draws solely from mobo. Power-efficient.
Supports DX12 and Vulkan support may boost this GCN chip's potential.

Cons: If you are reading this you probably are looking for an ultra-cheap card most likely paired with an APU. What Hinders the R7 250 the most is that it IS a rebranded HD 7730. For ~$30 you get +85% performance increase and greatly improved rendering capabilities on a GTX 750 Ti. And why does this card even NEED 2 Gb of VRAM (which of course is DDR3 @1800Mhz over a 128-bit bus).

Other Thoughts: Save up for a GTX 950. Evga has ones for ~$140 that outperform this +179%.
If you need to have a card running under PCI-E power then jump for a 750 Ti.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card, but it is not an Oland card, it is a Cape Verde card: it does not run 384 shaders

Pros: Not a bad card, works well, has 512 shaders

Cons: Not an Oland card as advertised, they will ship you the Cape Verde version.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to settup, decent performance.

Pros: It was very low cost considering what it did for me, I've upgraded to EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+ since.

Cons: Many more modern games it isn't strong enough for anymore.

Other Thoughts: was a decent card.

1 out of 5 eggsNo longer actually a R7 250, its an R7 250X which isn't capable of Dual Graphics

Pros: It seems to be a well constructed card with a then top-of-the-line 2012 chip.

Cons: Despite the words "R7 250" on the box and the fact that it used to -- unsurprisingly -- contain an "R7 250", this card now has an R7 250X (formerly known as AMD HD7750) installed, which is technically a more capable chip from 2012. However, this chip will not function as a Dual Graphics to pair with an AMD APU which is pretty much the only reason one would still buy a R7 250 from three years ago. Their is no indication on the box (or that I can see on the card that it is a 250X). In fact, the box touts Dual Graphics.

Other Thoughts: I thought it may be a packaging mistake, so I nicely contacted their customer service explaining the situtation to see if I could get the card I actually ordered. Their customer service response to this was stunningly dungtastic: "dear customer , the card is still in return time so return it to your retailer and get the one you want before you get your new one do your research homework"

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsActually a 250X card. Not compatible with Kaveri APU for dual graphics

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: This is not a R7 250 card. It is actually an R7 250X card and will have compatibility issues for dual graphics with an AMD A10 Kaveri APU. I had to troubleshoot this issue for several days before I realized that the build of this 250X is based on Cape Verde and not Oland. This has 512 Shaders not 384 which make it incompatible for Kaveri APUs.

2 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: When it works its fine.

Cons: The one I got has issues changing video modes. It seems only !0% of the time I boot up I get video. When it changes video modes during the boot up process there is the same chance of the video going away.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Value Card

Pros: - 4K output
- Crossfirex
- AMD Dual/Hybrid Graphics

Cons: Only 3 outputs

Other Thoughts: I have used this card in Crossfirex configurations with a second identical card and in AMD Dual Graphics with a APU. In both configurations I am able to run Starcraft 2 with the highest settings with no lag on a 1080p display. This card can also smoothly playback 4K video but has issues with stuttering when trying to play games on 4k displays. This is a great card for 1080p entry gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for a low-power PSU

Pros: * The specs recommend a 400W PSU, but it will work fine with a 290W.
* Silent, yet acceptable frame rates in games like Minecraft or GW2 at 1080p and decent graphics settings

Cons: * N/A. Worked fine for me. I do wish the box had been sealed, as others mentioned.

Other Thoughts: * If you're looking for a video card for a computer with an anemic PSU, and realize you're not going to get something screamingly fast, this could be the card for you.
