The MSI R9 270 GAMING 2G (V305) Radeon R9 270 delivers competitive performance and great value, perfect for those seeking 1080p gameplay at maximum settings. It's based on the highly acclaimed AMD 28nm GCN architecture and boasts DirectX 11.2 support, giving you the power to drive today’s hottest games — and tomorrow’s. With Ultra Resolution Gaming you can leave HD in the dust by gaming on displays much, much larger. Whether using a 4k monitor or combining multiple HD monitors, you’ll get an expansive experience that’s truly out of sight. A rich set of AMD innovative technologies is included, such as App Acceleration, AMD PowerTune, AMD ZeroCore, and AMD HD3D technology. With these technology advancements, you'll get more than one way to elevate your gaming experience.

This graphics card offers more with innovative MSI gaming series features such as a TWIN FROZR IV cooler, military class components, and more.

  • newegg ADVANCED TWIN FROZR IV MSI's Twin Frozr has been the industry-defining graphics card cooler. The first Twin Frozr kicked of the dual-fan trend and today MSI stays true to its dual-fan dual-slot design, where others have to resort to less effective means. The other part that the Twin Frozr cooler uses is a large aluminum fin grid array that provides a huge amount of surface area for cooling. Heat from the GPU is transferred to the fin grid array by virtue of heat pipes with MSI's special SuperPipe technology. SuperPipes transfer heat twice as fast as regular heat pipes, enabling an MSI GAMING graphics card to stay cooler than the competition. Futhermore, MSI provides all-new Airflow Control technology on the Twin Frozr. This new thermal tech leads the airflow to the heat pipe by a special deflector on the heatsink, so it can deflect more airflow to the heat pipes directly. In addtion, this exclusive heatsink design increases the area of the heatsink, so it enhances the dissipation efficiency much more.
  • newegg MILITARY CLASS COMPONENT One of the deciding factors in performance is the quality of the components used. That is why MSI only uses MIL-STD-810G certified components for its gaming cards because only these components have proven to be able to withstand the torturous circumstances of extreme gaming and overclocking. SOLID CAP - One With their aluminum core design, Solid CAP's have been a staple in high-end design mainboard designs and provides lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as its over-10-year lifespan. Hi-C CAP - A Hi-c CAP is a very small, but super-efficient capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. NEW SUPER FERRITE CHOKES - New Super Ferrite Chokes use a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Chokes to run at a 35°C lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency and better overclocking power stability.
  • newegg GAMING APP A lightweight, easy-to-use OC tool, the Gaming App allows you to switch between OC Mode, Gaming Mode, and Silent Mode with one press of a button. Each mode has an individual pre-defined Base Clock and Boost Clock to meet different play scenarios.
  • newegg EXPERIENCE - PREDATOR A built-in screen and video capturing tool named Predator captures your screen as still images or videos with the push of a button. So you can capture and record your coolest, goofiest and most awesome gaming moments on your PC!
  • newegg AFTERBURNER MSI Afterburner has quickly become the favorite overclocking software for media, overclockers and end-users. Because of its simple interface, it's easy to learn, but it packs a lot of powerful features like an integrated benchmark utility called Kombustor that can check your system performance in benchmarking mode, or run as a stability test. Don't speak English? No problem: MSI Afterburner is translated in many languages including Russian, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean! Not satisfied with the looks? Just change to one of the many different skins or create one yourself with ease! Even better, you can run Afterburner straight from your smartphone! Download the MSI Afterburner App from Google Play or the Apple store, and start overclocking wit.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete fail

Pros: Ran great for the time that it did. Good FPS for the price but if MSI is not willing to stand be hide their product than screw them!

Cons: It failed in about 4-5 week after I bought it, I RMA'd it to MSI and they sent me back the SAME video card. This is not a fix what so ever MSI. I am never buying anything from you again. SENT ME THE SAME GPU!!!!

Other Thoughts: For what I paid and who this is coming from (MSI) I expected something more from you. IF you are going to do anything at all I expect a complete replacement or an upgrade to the r9 290x 8gb . .

4 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Fast high quality construction.

Cons: A little on the large side its box is bigger than a motherboard box.

Other Thoughts: I paired this with an FX-6300 and 8gb of 1866 it runs DayZ flawless. I up graded from and badly outdated gt800 and amd 600e with 8gb of 1333. I plan on adding a second stick of 8gb 1866 and go to liquid cooling for over clocking in about 2 months.

4 out of 5 eggsfirst amd card since 2008....

Pros: Runs all new fps games and Company of Heroes like a champ.

Cons: It's kind of crazy how many amps are needed to run this card. The user should calculate tje amps needed from thier current PSU before purchasing. I had a 600w psu but minimum amps needed to run the card.

my PC would not boot after an hour. It felt like my psu was on the verge of killing over. so hot, it would burn you. Bought another psu with +10 amps now everything runs great.

Outside of the outrageous demand for power, the card creates ALOT of heat. In far cry 4 my temps hit almost 70C. I am always nervous when GPU temps go that high; even though AMD swears these cards can go up to 100-110F and work just fine. I use Speed-Fan to adjust the airflow when gaming. usually gets temps down to 55-60C at 48 percent fan acceleration. No card-whining either.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI R9 270 GAMING

Pros: Pretty good card. Been playing BF4 on high settings, some ultra. Good temps. Have not OC'ed it so I can't comment on that. Only crash so far is when I was playing BF Hardline Beta with every thing turn up to ultra. Purchased this 3/14, so it's a little dated but still holds it's own. All other video output from this card is awesome. My display setting is set at 1920x1080.

Cons: Fan is a little noisy when under a load.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mid Level Video Card

Pros: Has maxed out just about everything I throw at it (maxed out Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, GTA 4, and others; almost maxed out Metro Last Light, just had to set down one setting but still looks awesome!)
No compatibility issues (other than initial drivers used - see cons)
No blue screens
Works with my 500W PSU, no problem.
Great for a gamer on a budget.

Cons: Didn't take an egg off for it as I knew of the AMD driver issues going in. I did have to mess around a bit with getting the right driver installed without making my games artifact. Highly recommend using the driver from MSI's website and not AMD's website. MSI provided one is much more stable than the newer ones on AMD's.

Other Thoughts: Solid "Mid Level" gaming graphics card. Once I was using the driver from MSI's website the card performed wonderfully and continues to work.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Keeps cool under load well
quiet
fast
fairly cheap IMO

Cons: only 2GB Vram

Other Thoughts: Got this for a pc build to run some games on Ultra as high as I could get the FPS to go. This GPU does it. I recommend getting two of them for crossfire play if you can. My one is good, but I am a performance junkie so I got another one and it is in the mail, even though i didn't need it.

I guess some people get these DOA, but mine was fine and still is. Hope my second one is too.

5 out of 5 eggsSecond Review Same Card.

Pros: Overclocks to 1025 core nicely if you get a high quality spin of the card and 1500 Memory at 1.125v. Really is amazing with all the new updates after owning the card for a year, but I had my struggles over the year with this card. Read the Cons and other thoughts.

Cons: It's a con and not a con at the same time. I've struggled with same problems as other users whom have had the card for 6+ months. Then there are users who have had the card for only months and the thing shuts down. See other thoughts for how I dealt with the issues.

Other Thoughts: I got this card at the tail end of 2013 when the catalyst driver was still in it's infancy for this architecture. I was able to get my core clock up to a mythic 1125 core 1500 mem at 1.125 using VBE7. It was awesome. Though my games were still under-performing and choppy (Titan-Fall, Tomb Raider, even League of Legends (Wat?) and yet no crashes. Then the good people at AMD optimized the card. They did such a fantastic job of optimizing the card at the end 14.12 Catalyst; that I'm running High or ultra on all my games with zero chop, but the funny thing that happened was that I get random shutdowns or close outs of games. This was frustrating to the point of me wanted to send my card back which I couldn't so... I re-down clocked it in MSI afterburning. Didn't work. The clock stuck it's place in the card bios (which makes sense). I reset my card through VBE7 to 1000Mhz core and set my MSI afterburner to 1025 after several tests (FurMark and hours of gaming) and viola! No more random crashes or shutdowns no matter how long I play and I do have a amazing spin of the card. After going through this I've realized that the AMD updates have put a much greater strain on core clock and need to have a slower core clock and this card was tested when you could have higher one with old Catalyst drivers. Bottom line: I love this card more than ever now since I don't have anymore random frame rate drops or crashes and overall performs better at slower core clocks (though do overclock mem to 1500 [If you can]). If your card randomly shuts down AT STOCK voltages and clock speeds with THE NEW Catalyst drivers before you RMA I'd suggest dropping your Core clock to 925 or 900mhz in MSI afterburner. Don't worry your card will still perform at stock clock, but when frames start getting scrambled the card appears to dial back to the in-between setting 925 or 900 in my tests which will cause a 2 frame per second dip vs a crash. If that's upsetting to you then I recommend an RMA and hopefully you get an awesome spin like mine.
