The MSI R9 270 GAMING 2G (V305) Radeon R9 270 delivers competitive performance and great value, perfect for those seeking 1080p gameplay at maximum settings. It's based on the highly acclaimed AMD 28nm GCN architecture and boasts DirectX 11.2 support, giving you the power to drive today’s hottest games — and tomorrow’s. With Ultra Resolution Gaming you can leave HD in the dust by gaming on displays much, much larger. Whether using a 4k monitor or combining multiple HD monitors, you’ll get an expansive experience that’s truly out of sight. A rich set of AMD innovative technologies is included, such as App Acceleration, AMD PowerTune, AMD ZeroCore, and AMD HD3D technology. With these technology advancements, you'll get more than one way to elevate your gaming experience.

This graphics card offers more with innovative MSI gaming series features such as a TWIN FROZR IV cooler, military class components, and more.

  • newegg ADVANCED TWIN FROZR IV MSI's Twin Frozr has been the industry-defining graphics card cooler. The first Twin Frozr kicked of the dual-fan trend and today MSI stays true to its dual-fan dual-slot design, where others have to resort to less effective means. The other part that the Twin Frozr cooler uses is a large aluminum fin grid array that provides a huge amount of surface area for cooling. Heat from the GPU is transferred to the fin grid array by virtue of heat pipes with MSI's special SuperPipe technology. SuperPipes transfer heat twice as fast as regular heat pipes, enabling an MSI GAMING graphics card to stay cooler than the competition. Futhermore, MSI provides all-new Airflow Control technology on the Twin Frozr. This new thermal tech leads the airflow to the heat pipe by a special deflector on the heatsink, so it can deflect more airflow to the heat pipes directly. In addtion, this exclusive heatsink design increases the area of the heatsink, so it enhances the dissipation efficiency much more.
  • newegg MILITARY CLASS COMPONENT One of the deciding factors in performance is the quality of the components used. That is why MSI only uses MIL-STD-810G certified components for its gaming cards because only these components have proven to be able to withstand the torturous circumstances of extreme gaming and overclocking. SOLID CAP - One With their aluminum core design, Solid CAP's have been a staple in high-end design mainboard designs and provides lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as its over-10-year lifespan. Hi-C CAP - A Hi-c CAP is a very small, but super-efficient capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. NEW SUPER FERRITE CHOKES - New Super Ferrite Chokes use a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Chokes to run at a 35°C lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency and better overclocking power stability.
  • newegg GAMING APP A lightweight, easy-to-use OC tool, the Gaming App allows you to switch between OC Mode, Gaming Mode, and Silent Mode with one press of a button. Each mode has an individual pre-defined Base Clock and Boost Clock to meet different play scenarios.
  • newegg EXPERIENCE - PREDATOR A built-in screen and video capturing tool named Predator captures your screen as still images or videos with the push of a button. So you can capture and record your coolest, goofiest and most awesome gaming moments on your PC!
  • newegg AFTERBURNER MSI Afterburner has quickly become the favorite overclocking software for media, overclockers and end-users. Because of its simple interface, it's easy to learn, but it packs a lot of powerful features like an integrated benchmark utility called Kombustor that can check your system performance in benchmarking mode, or run as a stability test. Don't speak English? No problem: MSI Afterburner is translated in many languages including Russian, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean! Not satisfied with the looks? Just change to one of the many different skins or create one yourself with ease! Even better, you can run Afterburner straight from your smartphone! Download the MSI Afterburner App from Google Play or the Apple store, and start overclocking wit.

1 out of 5 eggsMSI - bad customer service

Pros: When working, the card was fast and played most games on high settings.

Cons: Just over a month after installing, the card died on me. Given that I just missed the 30 day return window, I had to go through the nightmare that is MSI's RMA process. I had to pay to have the board shipped to MSI, then wait about 3 weeks to get a new one back. They only send refurbs, and the refurb they sent was thrown together in shoddy packaging. They couldn't even bother to close/tape up the anti-static bag, it was hanging open. Considering that it was being sent during a snowy winter period, a little care with packaging would have been nice. The refurb they sent me was dirty on the outside, and upon installing I found that I had checked artifacts all over the screen and was getting BSODs on a regular basis. I had to RMA a second time, and am now waiting on another card, hoping that they don't send me another piece of junk. Currently I've been without a decent graphics card for five weeks. If I get another defective card from them I'll be contacting the better business bureau, since they clearly don't have any quality control and don't test the products before sending them out.

Other Thoughts: MSI has a reputation for good products, but if you happen to get a lemon, you're in for a rough time.

(Note: if the company will actually follow through in product a decent replacement product for my BRAND NEW video card, I'll adjust my review accordingly)

4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: One of the best cards you can get for the price.. outperforms the gtx 750 ti which is slightly more expensive, i was actually looking at purchasing that and watched a benchmark video on it and this was on the list always 20-30 frames ahead of the 750.. its a great card.. i recommend it.

Cons: On my 2nd one.. seems like some of these are duds.. also battlefield 3 is no longer on the list for the free games... kinda bummed.

2 out of 5 eggsGraphical Errors

Pros: Two Fans
A good price

Cons: After a few months of using the card, I started getting graphical errors on my screen, like checkersboarded squares that stay on one monitor, or screen tearing even after I adjusted the settings to try to v-sync it with any game I would play.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. If possible verify the MSI videp card on another working system or another card on your system to check.
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome stuff

Pros: Its a good price for the $.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I found out if you buy this GPU you are going to need a good PSU no less than 750W pending your other parts and 40 PLUS ampts. I cannot run this GPU at load with 575W at 25 ampts nor can I run its at load with 550W 41 ampts. So next upgrade an high grade PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None as mine was DOA. I was really excited to use it too but this card is also nothing more than a 7970 too. They just changed the name from r9 270 from 7970. Its actually borderline scandalous! I will keep buying AMD cards though cause AMD is superior to Nvidia, just got a bad one I guess.

Cons: Was malfunctioning as soon as I booted up. Screen flashed black repeatedly with 2 fast screen flashes of a light green distorted background then back to flashing black.

Other Thoughts: This is the 2nd MSI product that was a complete failure upon buying. The first was a AMD motherboard and now this card. MSI like Zotac and HIS (both horrible companies) leave a bad taste in my mouth and make me very reluctant to buy anymore products from them. I would never recommend anyone to buy from Zotac and especially HIS (off the subject).

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsPerplexing

Pros: Factory Overclocking by MSI sets the frequency to 955 mhz, very nice for most games I play off steam. Overclock with MSI afterburner to 1ghz+ potentially if you get the luck of the draw. Mine hit the 85C warning quite quickly. Not risking the 95C limit.
I like the supporting rib along the PCB, nice touch.
MSI gaming app, 300 mhz setting for light usage.

Cons: I was unable to get the card to crossfire with an identical card from MSI purchased later. MSI, Gigabyte (motherboard manufacturer), were all unable to help be debug the issue.
Stuck with single card configuration for now but treating it as an slightly underclocked 270x is fine with me. So minor egg deduction.

Other Thoughts: Got the idea to purchase this rather than the 270x after watching LinusTechTips. Lower overall power draw with potential of matching stock reference 270x card speeds characterized this decision.

2 out of 5 eggsWish I Didn't Get A Leom

Pros: -Cheap card(especially on sale)
-Powerful card
-Low Energy
-Very Quiet

Cons: I have been struggling an entire day with this, seems to either just be my card or my configuration.
-HD videos had an issue with curves. pixelated and syncing issues
-Glitched in several games causing flickering and ghost images

Other Thoughts: Based on other reviews I seem to have just gotten unlucky.
Not sure if it was my card or if it was some configuration issue, so buy at ur own risk, but I am sure you will have better luck than myself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Vid Card for the Price!!

Pros: - 256-bit DDR5 below $200 (Yes please!!)
- Twin Frozer Fans
- Can max out any game I have thrown at it. (Ex. LoL, Neverwinter, Archeage)
- Only needs 1 6-pin connector
- It remains cool even in long hours of use
- included 3 free games from AMD

Cons: - I got it at the regular price of $179.99 (the price dropped to $169.99-$30.00 rebate = $139.99) Don't get me wrong, this is definitely worth the money even at the regular price.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and I can now play all of my games at max settings. There is no need to think twice if you are searching for an awesome video card at a very budget friendly price.
