2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: While functioning this card was great, I could run any games I played at good settings (not max because there was slight lag, but hardly noticeable; it was a is personal preference). With this card I was running an i7 processor with 8GB of DDR3 1866 RAM.
My computer was fairly good.

Cons: Having the card for five months (a bit under because of motherboard problems beginning my build) while working flawlessly, however suddenly it has a preference of games. Yup, for only CS:GO this card will shut down my computer when joining a game -- regardless of settings of the card or game (Also, this card works for others with this game, so it is not the game having an issue). The shutdown occurs as if my power cable was ripped out, with instant shutdown, then after a short second a reboot. Note: My PSU is capable for the power my build can output and then some, and has a gold 80+ rating, so that is very unlikely..
I have tried reinstalling Windows 7, countless driver resets/updates, testing individual RAM sticks and in different slots, testing with integrated graphics only (which works), reseating the card, no BIOS updates are available.
There appears to be no problem, but clearly something is wrong, To me that is the worst part, not being able to determine the issue, I have only the confirmation that my once GPU is now a set of fans worth $300.

*For the default reply by MSI, my temperatures are as they need to be, I have tried driver updates, reseating RAM/GPU, my CPU is also fine with temperature and works fine without the card. Unfortunately because of the lack of a warranty purchase and the time since purchased there is no further assistance you can provide me.

Other Thoughts: A good card, but for a limited time. Buy if you plan on replacing after six months.

1 out of 5 eggsLow Price - You get what you pay for

Pros: We build custom gaming PCs for our customers.
We don't normally use MSI videos cards in our builds due to previous issues, but customer requested it for the low price for a 4GB card.
The card work fantastic for the first couple of weeks. The machine was driven by a i7 4790k CPU, 1 TB SSD , 16GB ram, and ASUS Z97 Pro Series motherboard. The machine was rocking when it left the shop.

Cons: We were highly disappointed when our customer came back complaining within a couple of weeks that his machine kept locking up and the fans were a bit loud.
First check was to make sure all his drivers were up to date. Second check was try and recreate the lock up screen and noise.
The noise was coming from the video card fans so we replaced the card with an old EVGA card and all the issues were solved.
Returning this card not worth the headache and losing a customer.

Other Thoughts: The card came with a MFG rebate which is a joke. We registered it online and sent everything requested including the "original receipt". We later received a email stating the receipt was illegible and they could not process the rebate.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly.
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and power supply) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. We suggest if possible verify the vidoe card on another working system to check.
4. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

Best Regards,

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cards

Pros: Great card, runs everything I throw at it no problem (Have 2 in cross fire)

Cons: It uses allot of power. Needs 2 6 pin PCI-E cables each. Not really a con just for informational purposes

Other Thoughts: My wife is buying a set of the 285's as they are the same price now

2 out of 5 eggsGood, if it would work

Pros: This thing was AMAZING when it was working! I had it running furmark with great stats, could run Eve Online with max graphics, Skyrim as well! I have three monitors and each was just flawless. When it worked. When the first worked for a couple weeks I was blown away by solid FPS rates and the smooth game play. A very noticeable jump from the Asus GTX 660 2GB I was running.

Cons: This is the most depressing card ever. I got the card on sale, then was going to file for my rebate, but had issues with that. Then had to go through constant black screen and system freeze ups. My PC was not the issue and seeing more reviews now, there is obviously an issue here. I spent 20$ to return this and get a new one. The first last a couple weeks, then I had to file for a return, just to get a new one that didn't last 2minutes before doing the same thing. My 1000w PSU should run it fine. But I plug it in, it boots, then soon after did the black screen freeze. Now my PC wont start.

Reseating the GPU did allow me to start it again, but then it black screens. I have tried one monitor, just HDMI, and more. Nothing works. It just causes black screens and this is the replacement!

Putting my GTX 660 back in everything runs just fine. So I have no other option but to believe the R9 is to blame. MSI mobo's have always done me good, first time I tried their GPU and now I don't think I will bother with them again. Though I hear many other R9's are doing this. So I guess I will stick with my GTX's. I plan to file for a return after this bit. Going to give them a call, see if they can help, but I doubt it.

Other Thoughts: Great card when it worked. Had to RMA, just to get one that lasted less then an hour. Tried it in two different PC builds, it black screened BOTH. Don't waste your time on this card. I've spent more time without a PC working now then having one running with this card in. Also, having to pay for a return on a faulty item is just annoying. I will spend 40$ to get my money back, just to try and get another. Lovely.

4 out of 5 eggsHighly recommended, Try this build!

Pros: - Four (4G) Gigabytes of GDDR5 memory, perfect for running 1080p triple setup monitors when running Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro 64bit
- High-Grade Custom Coolers keep the card at a steady 60 degrees celcius, reaching around 65 degrees centigrade at max with default auto fan speeds
- Backplate; Very effective at keeping the card from flexing, including protection from accidents (friend shorted his GPU once)
- Ability to run games at High to Ultra Settings, preferred you use only x2 Anisotropic filtering and Antialiasing off for high Framerates
- OC tool can be helpful for those who want an extra boost in gaming; MSi Afterburner is a standard default though
- Crossfiring this card can do wonders, especially if you watch the price on this thing go down to the 2G variant
- Got this card for $180 before it went back up

Cons: - This card gave me a headache in the first few weeks after purchase, mainly because drivers were constantly reverting back to default which halted my ability to use my new computer, although-
- AMD usually throws out drivers that kill performance, as I was playing Fallout 3 Ultimate Edition, and DX9 support was terrible, or even shameful
- I am dissatisfied that other customers DID NOT get a crossfire bridge with their purchases, because honestly a card going down at these prices at the time of purchase ($180) doing a dual card setup is brilliant, but having to be lucky to get one (my card came with one) it creates scenarios where Xfire Bridges have to be bought separately
- When returning a GTX 750Ti FTW Edition, my clumsy self left an SLi Bridge from my MoBo. Such disappointment, but I was Excited in trading it in

Other Thoughts: I am a very happy customer. This is my Second build, the first being a junker of spare parts and hand me downs from friends and colleagues who wanted me to pursue my love for Computers. This buid Consists of:

AMD FX-6300 3.5 ghz processor, Stock Cooler
MSi Gaming 970 Motherboard
GSkill Ripjaws-X 2x4GB 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 RAM
MSi R9 270x 4G Gaming Edition Graphics Card
One (1TB) Terabyte Seagate Barracuda HDD
Corsair Spec-01 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Rosewill Green-Series 630 watt PSU, Single 12v Rail
x2 Coolermaster 120mm Fans, x1 Exhaust, x1 Intake funneling into Graphics Card

My last Review was aroubnd September of last year. Many cons have hindered my build, but workarounds and updates did the build a succesful finish.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card while it worked

Pros: Great card while it worked.

Cons: Swapped out a HD 6870 2GB for MSI R9 270x Gaming 4GB to go with a MSI 970 Gaming motherboard Card lasted about 5 months Started up Civilization 5 loaded a saved game when I hit the next turn button the monitor flashed and changed to a brownish red color. After a reboot tried it again this time got a black screen the last time got a white screen. Swapped the card to another computer it booted a couple times now all I get is a black screen. Put in a MSI Radeon R9 270x Gaming 2GB and everything works fine. Bad video card.

Other Thoughts: I have used many MSI products and this is the first time I have had any issues with them Will try and warranty this one out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for frames

Pros: This is probably the best card for under $250 right now. Kills it in pretty much any 1080p gaming experience, has run everything I can throw at it. Good looks, quiet fans and almost a full coverage backplate.

Cons: Drivers. However, this is my own fault since I'm running Technical Preview, but after loading the Omega beta driver it works great. Always a bit of a chore when going Team Red.

Other Thoughts: There are a few good cards to choose from in this price range, but this is the only one I found sporting a backplate so that did affect my decision.

4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: pretty good served its purpose, games at max settings on half the games at 30-50 fps good for me... THEN I CROSS FIRED THIS BE-ACH! I applaud this if crossfired

Cons: does not come with a crossfire bridge...

Other Thoughts: a bit weaker then I intended to buy... but crossfiring it made it worth its while
