5 out of 5 eggsGreat Video Card

Pros: Great build quality. Backplate is great. Fans are barely audible below 50% speed and dont really get loud until you push them to around 65-70%. Overclocks like a champ. Easily got 1180 on the core and 1600 (Effectively 6400) on the memory just by increasing the voltage 100mv and the power limit by 50%. Very stable. The overclocking really puts this card in another tier.

absolutely beautiful packaging. very fun to open.

Cons: 2 6+2 and 1 6 pin are required to overclock. not a huge deal because if you're buying a card of this caliber, you most likely will have a power supply that works with it.

card size is large, but thats the sacrifice that was made to ensure that the card could run very low temperatures on air.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Very powerful, able to run Far Cry 4 on ultra like a champ even without overclocking. Surprisingly quiet.

Cons: Very minor stuff. It eats a couple PCI ports, so plan accordingly. It also eats a ton of power. Still, not any major issues.

Other Thoughts: Good value, looks great, performs even better. I got it for around $350 and it's worth every penny.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Batch?

Pros: Previous MSI products have always worked GREAT! Was upgrading from a MSI 280x to a MSI Lightning 290x.

Cons: First 2 lightning cards arrived DOA. The cards would not output a signal to the monitor. Placed the old 280x back in and the computer worked great. Received a third lightning card and it worked for about 1 week. No overclocking, etc. After 1 week, the fans sped up and no signal to the monitor. MSI customer service was unable to help. I tried everything. Clean drivers, different PCIE ports, different cables, different monitors, etc. without any success. Very dissatisfied with MSI on this one. Went with a 980 gtx and it's working great. Don't be surprised if you buy this card and this also happens to you.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: It did ok. Cost plus games put it over the edge vs the 970. You could OC the thing and it look good.

Cons: After about month I started to get odd drops where my monitors would go dark but the computer would be on. I would reset the computer and the card would spin up very fast then nothing. I would reset the computer then it would work. It would do this after about 4 hours of use from time to time. I kept reading and working on the settings and setting the fan to run faster helped some.

But last night, it just went down. I used the mobo display port to trouble shoot. I redid all the drivers and worked on it all night. I changed pci slots ...you name it. My computer does not see the card anymore.

The last thing this card did before it death was shut down and the fans spun up to 100%. Then nothing.

Other Thoughts: I am supper bummed. I got rid of a great 280x for this card. It is advertised as certified to be stable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for my dual screens

Pros: I'm currently using one of these to power 2 27inch catleaps and I have had no issues at all. I have ran other cards on this same setup recently (280x xfire) and I would get occasional screen drops and system freezes when using silver light or other video services. So far I have not ran into any of the aforementioned issues since switching.

I've only done minimal overclocking but that presented no issues and my small increases worked as one would want them to work. The fan noise is actually pretty decent as far as I am concerned. I haven't take any measurements but I do typically leave my case open and I have yet to be overwhelmed by the fan noise. In contrast I used to run a 6950 toxic and while it was a great card for the time it was also ridiculously loud so I may just be overjoyed at relative reduction in sound.

Cons: I'm very happy with this card, it is large and somewhat flashy but I knew that coming into it and it's by no means a fault in my eyes.

Other Thoughts: I watch this card off and on waiting for another rebate to come along. I'd really like to run 2 or 3 of these and pick up a 3rd Catleap.

4 out of 5 eggsBad Card

Pros: When it worked, I had amazing improvement over my XFX 7870 XT DD. Almost double the fps on everything I tested. Super cool and quiet card. Dollar for dollar the best card you can get. After MiR mine only cost 300.00. Complete overkill for 1080p gaming, but I love the high fps and smoothness of gameplay.

Cons: Black-screens like crazy. The card had a huge scratch on the fan shroud. This card is super heavy and long.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's RMA was quick and simple. Do yourself a favor and buy the shipping from newegg, it is a lot cheaper, it saved me 30.00 bucks. I hope this new card don't have any issues.

The four stars is mainly for newegg, and the fact that I understand that you will always have a few bad cards outta of the box. It is not anyone's fault, It is just apart of the manufacturing process.

2 out of 5 eggsWouldnt get it

Pros: Fast, and will rock any game

Cons: I have 4 of them, two of them have broken within a short period of time (1 card within the first week, second about 2 months later)

I'd find something else to get. Im not the only one reporting this, error rate seems far too high
