Advanced Twin Frozr IV

MSI's Twin Frozr has been the industry defining graphics card cooler. The first Twin Frozr kicked of the dual-fan trend and today MSI stays true to its dual-fan dual-slot design where others have to resort to less effective means.

The other part that the Twin Frozr cooler uses is a large Aluminium fin grid array that provides a huge amount of surface area for cooling. Heat from the GPU is transferred to the fin grid array by virtue of heat pipes with MSI's special SuperPipe technology. SuperPipes transfer heat twice as fast as regular heat pipes enabling an MSI GAMING graphics card to stay cooler than the competition.

Futhermore, MSI provides all new Airflow Control technology on the Twin Frozr. This new thermal technology leads airflow to the heat pipe by a special deflector on the heatsink, so it can increase the flow of air directly. In addition, this exclusive heatsink design increases the area of the heatsink to enhance dissipation even more.

Military Class Components

One of the deciding factors in performance is the quality of the components used. That is why MSI only uses MIL-STD-810G certified components for its Gaming cards because only these components have proven able to withstand the torturous circumstances of extreme gaming and overclocking.

Solid Caps

With their aluminum core design, solid caps have been a staple in high-end mainboard designs and provide lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as an over-10-year lifespan.

R9 280 GAMING 3G

Hi-C Caps

A Hi-C Cap is a very small, but super-efficient capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing around a CPU socket to install large coolers, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. Thanks to Hi-C Caps, MSI's mainboards are the most energy efficient in the market.

R9 280 GAMING 3G

Solid State Choke

It's a new generation, form-in-one choke, which doesn't generate vibration noise under heavy loads & provides 37.5% higher current output comparing with traditional ring chokes. This is very important when your GPU is overclocked or under high loads, since it requires even more electricity.

Share for Fun

Afterburner

MSI Afterburner has quickly become the favorite overclocking software for media, overclockers and end-users. Because of its simple interface, it's easy to learn, but it packs a lot of powerful features like an integrated benchmark utility - called Kombustor - that can check your system performance in benchmarking mode, or run as a stability test.

Don't speak English? No problem: MSI Afterburner is translated in many languages including Russian, Spanish, Chinese and Korean! Not satisfied with the looks? Just change to one of the many different skins or create one yourself with ease!

Even better, you can run Afterburner straight from your smartphone! Download the MSI Afterburner App from Google Play or the Apple store and start overclocking.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible GPU

Pros: Has 3 GB of VRAM

Cons: Bought this for my gaming pc a few months back and ever since it has given me nothing but trouble. I really was looking forward to playing GTA: V but it is un playable due to the artifacts on the screen and no matter how high or low the settings are I still have a horrible looking game.

Other Thoughts: definelty wish I could exchange the card for another model and pay the difference but it looks like im stuck with it.

2 out of 5 eggsLots of screen flickering/checkerboard artifacts

Pros: It works really well like 60% of the time...

Cons: There is flickering and there are random checkerboard pattern artifacts that appear completely randomly... Whether I'm in a game (more frequent) or browsing the internet, occasionally the whole screen will go checkerboard between black squares and squares of the actual image thats supposed to be on screen (something random colored squares too)... At first it only happened once or twice so I thought nothing of it, but now I'd say it happens just about every day. It is a minor inconvenience as it only lasts briefly (usually anyways), but still an inconvenience that I shouldn't be having after paying $200 for this.

Other Thoughts: What's worse is it appears to be happening jmore frequently now, and I'm not sure I'm even covered for a replacement anymore.. Should have returned it the first second I saw that.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price

Pros: Runs everything great, almost all games at max 1080p, minus newer titles.

Much better option than the other cards that were in the price range at the time I purchased this.

Cons: The card has a weird problem where the entire screen on my main monitor goes into staticy- messed up mode. This only happens maybe once a week, and I don't really care enough to RMA it.

Other Thoughts: I would RMA it if I cared enough; some people might find this more annoying than others. It seems like it's more my card, though, than 90% of them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the money

Pros: Great Buy for the price. Plays games from high-ultra depending on the game. Works flawlessly except occasional issues on GTA V but I mean occasional.

Cons: Rare issues on some games including GTA V and the card itself is somewhat big.

Other Thoughts: Used it in my first custom build and I highly recommend to anyone building their first computer. Great card

5 out of 5 eggsValue is unmatched

Pros: + Powerful: Runs games beautifully at 1080p60
+ Dual Bios has already saved me once
+ Mine can overclock like hell (Si lottery)
+ Looks awesome
+ Price (I bought mine at $150)
+ Stays cool

Cons: - Because it can OC so high (and it's AMD), it can get very hot.
- To stay cool in GPU-intense scenarios, the fans ramp up quite a lot. The fans at 70% are louder than I would like.

Other Thoughts: It's an excellent card, butting heads with the GTX 770 or so, at about half the price.
The 280x is probably a better choice for most given the performance gains.
I can't justify the noise generated by cooling a big overclock, so I leave it close to stock to avoid loud fan noise.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Plus

Pros: I actually bought this card for only one reason, to speed up render times in Sony Vegas and it has far exceeded my expectations!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: P.S. it blew the doors off a Quadro K4000 in Cinebench and a few other tests... like I said, I use it for video editing.
