With every new generation of GPUs comes more performance. With every new generation of MSI Twin Frozr we give you less noise and heat!. We’ve listened to all your requests and the new Twin Frozr V is smaller, features stronger fans, generates less noise, keeps your graphics card and its components cooler and matches perfectly with your MSI GAMING motherboard including some funky LED lightning. We’ve spent 18 months on the development of the Twin Frozr V, including field testing in gaming cafés to ensure the cards have the quality and stability to give you the FPS you need.

Traditional Fan Blade

Maximizes downwards airflow and air dispersion to the massive heat sink below them.

Dispersion Fan Blade

Intake more airflow to maximizes air dissipation to hear sink.

Advanced Dispersion Blade design generates 19% more airflow without increasing drag for supreme silent performance.

Enhanced dissipation efficiency
MSI has fitted Twin Frozr coolers with the all new Airflow Control technology which guides more airflow directly onto the heat pipes by using special deflectors on the heat sink. In addition, this exclusive heat sink design increases heat sink surface area, greatly enhancing the dissipation efficiency.

Smart cooling, stay quiet.
MSI’s Twin Frozr V Thermal Designs are equipped with ZeroFrozr technology which was first introduced by MSI back in 2008. ZeroFrozr technology eliminates fan noise in low-load situations by stopping the fans when they are not needed. Compared to other graphics cards, there is no continuous hum of airflow to tell you there’s a powerful graphics card in your gaming rig. This means you can focus on gaming without the distraction of other sounds coming from your PC.

Featuring a premium LED illuminated MSI GAMING Dragon to lighten the mood. This brand new function allows you to choose from 5 unique modes to set the right ambience for your gaming moments with just one click.

The latest version of the MSI Gaming App is expanded with MSI Scenamax technology (under the EyeRest tab) to provide you easy access to image quality improving technology in the easy comfort of the MSI Gaming App.

OC Mode

Maximum Performance through higher clock speeds and increased fan performance

Gaming Mode (Default)

The best balance between in-game performance and thermal

Silent Mode

The best enviroment for minimal fan noise

One of the deciding factors in performance is the quality of the components used. That is why MSI only uses MIL-STD-810G certified components for its Gaming cards because only these components have proven to be able to withstand the torturous circumstances of extreme gaming and overclocking.

MSI’s Hi-c CAPs are tiny, and super-efficient capacitors. Their small footprint allows the installation of heat sinks and their high efficiency (93%) actually reduces the total thermal footprint of the card.

Super Ferrite Chokes use a Ferrite core that is Super-Permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Chokes to run at a 35 degree Celsius lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency and better overclocking power stability.

With their aluminum core design, Solid CAP's have been a staple in high-end design mainboard designs and provides lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as its over-10-year lifespan.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty to a T...

Pros: My best friend has the EXACT same graphics card, bought literally weeks apart from when I purchased mine, and it runs everything on ultra no issues whatsoever

Cons: I bought the card for a friends PC rig I built and have had it for just about 6 months. 2 Months ago his PC would just shut off mid game (not even on overly-demanding games). He's literally given up on gaming on the PC because he cant run any games without worrying about the graphics card overheating and completely rebooting his system. When I say overheating, it is literally SCOLDING hot (even the side of the case is almost untouchable).

Other Thoughts: Of course the card goes bad just outside of the return policy for Newegg so now we're stuck with a $300 space heater that I initially intended on playing video games with... I have never had any issues with Newegg products and this is a very expensive waste of money that I hope can be resolved.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Graphics Card I Have Ever Owned!!

Pros: Can run just about every game on high by itself.
Very quiet.
Paired with great software.
Overall amazing performance and 99% of the time I am running 60+ FPS on High or Extreme graphic quality.
Great for overclocking. (Although not really needed)

Cons: It is very large. (make sure you have a big case!)
Takes 200W-250W of power, get that 700W-100W PSU ready.

Other Thoughts: My Build
-MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard.
-MSI Radeon R9 390 (Obviously).
-Intel Core I7-4790K quad core processor running at 4.0 GHz.
-EVGA 700B 700W PSU.
-2 sticks of 8GB G.Skill Sniper Series DDR3 RAM.
-Windows 10 Educational.

5 out of 5 eggsLotsa Power

Pros: Beautiful Card...Cudo's to MSI This thing is great looking and I like the light up MSI Gaming logo.
Super powerful GPU, I scored very well in the VR test that's out with a 72 and it appears I am VR ready.
Runs great and I like that the fans don't spin up until there is a load which saves noise and electricity.
the massive heatsink does a good job of keeping the GPU and VRM's from heating up too much...At 1100 core & 1525 mem overclocks the highest temp after running Heaven, Valley and an hour of Crysis 3 the highest temp was 81C and it wasn't load at all even though I changed the fan profile to run the fans a bit faster than the stock profile.
Doesn't really draw too much power, from what I could tell around 200w under gaming was the max I hit, that's not super efficient but not horrible to me.
The card has a very nice backplate and some stiffness built in so with the braces on my Giga Gaming 7 Z170 PCI-e slots there is no sag despite the serious weight to the card.
Perfect for 1440P gaming at a good price.

Cons: Can't find too many but is is huge and very heavy, this causes me zero problems with my case and motherboard.
I would mention the overclocking because others have had less luck with the core than me but I think 1100 is plenty on the core. On the memory it's 1525 and maybe would like to see it go higher but core clocks are much more important and overclocking the memory has diminishing returns when you have 8 Gigs of it and it creates more heat than it's worth.

Other Thoughts: Get it if you are thinking about it. I know Pascal is coming but if you can't wait or want to get a card and sell it in a few months go for it. I recommend it highly and over any 970 especially with DirectX 12. The prices could come down some after Pascal too.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Hardware

Pros: Good powerful card
Casing makes it easy to handle and install

Cons: Needs a 6 and 8 pin PCI-Express power supply
PCI-Express plugs face the outer side which could interfere with some case setups
Included drivers didn't set up properly from disc, had to get them from ATI website instead

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck

Pros: This is the absolute best way to go if you are going to go Radeon. Card works great.

Cons: Drivers for this thing can be a pain, but that's not the manufacturers, or neweggs fault, so I didn't take any eggs away for it.

5 out of 5 eggs"7970 replacement"

Pros: Simply my choice after reading or watching reviews from various sources. Very capable video solution.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Generally I turn off the AA in games as I use the AMD VSR feature. nVidia has this very same type of feature, but it's known as DSR.
My other choice was a nVidia 970 solution. I will merely suggest that each person decide on which solution has the best utilization for your game/software. Also note that there are articles where AMD and nVidia GPU's are used concurrently in a Windows 10 system. So I may acquire a 970 also, as I stay informed on how things develop. ;)
