2 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: DirectX10, Dual DVI, Clock speed is alright, Visiontek Tech Support is good, Runs cool

Cons: Unable to complete one of my games cause this card is so horrid. Offers DirectX10, but Vista makes the video all choppy so it defeats the purpose of DX10 at all!

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to replace a Radeon X1300 that had died on me 3 times. This is not an improvement. The drivers are horrible, which is most likely the cause of all my blue screens. I am running this under Windows XP pro. I played Half Life 2 episode 2 and am unable to complete the game cause video is so choppy. When I bought this, I had high hopes of it being better. Man, was I wrong. I'm gonna go ahead and buy that MSI Geforce 8600 Overclocked from nVidia.
Never again, ATI.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None, could not get to work as advertised

Cons: Seems to be a conflict with this card and ati drivers. None of the drivers on ati website would recognized this card. this card would not enable 3d acceleration. I would NOT buy this card. I am going back to Nvidia.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks like a video card

Pros: Looks identical to Diamond and similar brand ATI cards. Came well packed and with all advertised software, adapters, etc.

Cons: Had to use VisionTek's Catalyst software. Tried installing the latest Catalyst Suite from ATI's site and it errored out. Downloaded the latest full driver package from VisionTek and it installed just fine.

Other Thoughts: Would have given 5 stars if I could have used ATI's drivers. Otherwise the card works great and was a good deal. Thanks Newegg!

4 out of 5 eggsGood mid-rage card.

Pros: Great movie playback. Decent 3D performance for the occasional gamer. Very slim profile.

Cons: No support for the Avivo video converter. Cooling fan is loud.

Other Thoughts: Installing the drivers under XP Home took an unusually long time and it gave me a cryptic error message, but I haven't seen any ill effects. If you're bothered by fan noise, avoid this card or looking into replace/eliminating the cooling fan.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems, but no big gain either

Pros: Running WinXP Pro, the drivers were easy enough to load once I uninstalled the previous drivers for my ATI Radeon 9550 card in Add/Remove programs. Then, I had to use the full install from the Visiontek website to install both the drivers and the Catalyst Control Center (version 7.10 worked for me). The drivers would not install by themselves.

Cons: This card for some reason does not support the Avivo Video Converter, which I was planning to use to convert mpg2 files into mpg4 files. But that works only for X1K series cards. And I don't see any lower CPU usage when running MPEG2 or MPEG4 videos. Maybe the drivers are not mature enough yet.

Other Thoughts: The card runs cool in my system. I am not sure that the fan is even necessary, but I have a well-cooled case. I have a P4 running at 2.4GHz and an Intel 875 chipset motherboard. I expect a lot of the compatibility problems people have are due to the use of non-Intel chipsets.

4 out of 5 eggsit works

Pros: Running Windows XP. Great graphics, very nice color, but the driver support is horrid. The only drivers I can get to work are the original ones that came with the cd. None of the visiontek or radeon drivers on their websites work with AGP. You don't need a power supply connection with this card..so if you have a low end system it's nice. Runs cool.

Cons: very bad agp driver support from radeon and visiontek. If you try using the drivers from their websites..you'll mess up your system so make a system restore backup first.

Other Thoughts: Found out after the fact you need Vista to run graphics with DX10. Maybe the driver support will get better for AGP

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible terrible card

Pros: None.

Cons: This card is horrid. The official ATI Catalyst drivers (7.9 and prior) don't support this card at all under XP and the official VisionTek drivers hard-lock the OS within seconds of initializing a 3D application. On the third hard-lock, my XP partition corrupted itself to the point I had to do a full reinstall of the OS.

This is completely unacceptable and this product is a pile of garbage.

In terms of quality, it's a pretty bad sign when the company's tech support tells you it's just not going to work and to take the card back to the store for a refund.

Other Thoughts: Stay away.

2 out of 5 eggsBe careful...

Pros: Cheap, DX10, cool and quiet, HDMI out, hardware 264 decoding

Cons: Extremely poor drivers. The ones from the cd are complete junk. And the newest ones from the site (8.41) are not much better. I bought this for my wife's computer, but she can't even use it. The drivers install, but the whole system crashes either randomly, or whenever I try to change the desktop resolution. I put the card in my computer, and it's a little bit better. It plays games decently. A little better then a 9800 pro from what I can tell. But it still crashes randomly when I'm just browsing the web.

Other Thoughts: My advice would be to wait until there is better driver support. Otherwise this is a pretty decent card for the money.
