1 out of 5 eggsEverything works except...

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: The vga port doesn't work, and that was the reason for purchasing the card. Now I have to rma the card, and will now be charged an extra $12.00 to return it.

Other Thoughts: I used to really love the egg, but I am going to have to rethink my purchasing habits as having to continually pay return shipping on items that are bad out of the box is unacceptable to me.

4 out of 5 eggsPicture is excellent; software and audio is spotty

Pros: Picture quality is outstanding on my Samsung 1080p DLP TV - at least once I figured out to disable the automatic deinterlacing and just switch it to weave (and to also switch the output to 29i instead of 60p). I really like the straight heatsink with no fan.

Cons: Audio took quite a bit of tweaking to get it to work over the HDMI cable. Have to disable and renable extended desktop sometimes to get the screen to activate on my Samsung TV. Windows have weird behavior sometimes when I have extended desktop activated - such as I try and get media center to go to a regular size (not full screen) window and it just completly minimizes instead.

Other Thoughts: Audio didn't work on my vista 32 bit using the ati catalyst 8.6, 8.5, and 8.4 catalyst drivers. After many fruitless hours trying to mess with the Realtek audio drivers and other solutions that others have mentioned working for them, I finally got the audio to work by doing this very simple procedure:

I uninstalled all audio drivers using the device manager. I then installed the ATI catalyst 8.2 drivers and rebooted. Upon rebooot vista automatically installed HDMI audio drivers, and it worked (finally).

4 out of 5 eggsHardware works well. Drivers need some work.

Pros: Provides the hardware acceleration needed to play back BD and HD-DVD movies and supports sound over HDMI on some TV's.

Cons: ATI support is poor. Audio over HDMI to some HDMI 1.3 TV's does not work. I was told it would be fixed in the next driver (8.5) but the fix didn't make it.

Other Thoughts: I use the card in a Media Center PC for video playback. For that, it works very well once properly configured. Unfortunately, proper configuration is not always easy to achieve. For example, it is not documented that your HDCP monitor has to be identified as Monitor #1 to enable BD acceleration. ATI tech support was no help and insisted that it was the fault of the BD player software and the BD drive.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent HDMI card

Pros: Reliable handling of HDCP, awakens correctly from standby mode, excellent detail and color rendition, smooth and clean video, no fan, very good utility software, excellent price, easy install.

Cons: Haven't gotten the HDMI audio to work yet (and yes, I did install the latest Realtek driver software). This isn't a big deal because I can get 5.1 channel audio over the SP/DIF optical link. It may become important if and when I get a bluray player with hi-def audio.

Other Thoughts: This is my third video card for my HTPC and the first one that handles hi-def video correctly. My previous ones (Gigabyte and MSI, both using the Nvidia chip) were frustratingly unreliable in their inability to handle the DVI/HDMI interface consistently.
I would have given this a 5 if the HDMI audio worked, but the video performance is so good it's a 4 overall

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: HDMI built into card. Good price. Fanless.

Cons: HDMI audio took a while to figure out. You have to install the drivers from realtek (1.92 worked best for me). I only got 2 speaker set up until I did.

Other Thoughts: No blu-ray yet so I can't comment on that. Have it hoocked up to a Sony DG720 reciever and sounds good. I'm still playing with it. Having trouble getting 1366*768 for my Dell TV
