5 out of 5 eggsExcellent power, for a low price.

Pros: In comparison to many of the other equal leveled graphics cards, the value in this is phenomenal. Temperatures are running quite well with idle around 39C and load temperatures up to 60-65C tops.

Cons: None so far with this product. Although it is a single slot card, the fan and heat sink do cover the surrounding PCI slot.

Didn't come with thin mints

Other Thoughts: I am running CS:S with full graphics anti-aliasing and all with soaring fps. TF2 looks absolutely gorgeous on my 24" monitor at 16:10 1200(p) resolution. Full graphics on that as well.

If they get more stock of these, I'd say you should get a stock of these.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for hardcore Gamers who are on Direct X 9

Pros: -Cheap for the power One gets.

-Catalyst drivers, and software that controls these drivers, are both of top quality and configurability.

-Runs quietly, even during heavy loads. Specifically, this card rests at a minor level of GPU and Memory clock, with the fan spinning only as fast as it is required to maintain the already cool video card, cool. And then, if the card is bearing a heavier load, the GPU and Memory clocks are jacked up corresponding to how demanding Your application is; and the Fan speed of this video card, receives a jacking up correspondingly, alike.

-Satisfactorily overclockable, with an option to manually adjust this video card's heatsink fan speeds.

-Easy to install and use on Windows XP pro, service pack 3.

Cons: -It did not come with a free, winning lotto ticket.

-It did not come with a free, secure, guaranteed, and readily accessible retirement fund, even if I'm still in My 20's.

-It did not come with A guaranteed trip, to The People's Republic of Pluto.

-It did not come with a Terabyte of free(did I mention, free?) Plutonian Video RAM.

-This video card becomes unstable during heavy-loads(of hardcore Gaming), when it has been overclocked over a vast amount of time - - - say, months...

Other Thoughts: ...But returning this card to its stock settings, remedies this instability completely. Also, please be sure to have a power supply that has a PCIe 6-pin connector.

And lastly, My opinions on the performance and quality of this card: I can run Unreal Tournament 3 at nigh max quality with good frames per second; I can run Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at nigh max quality in Direct X 9, with an average of 45-50 fps, which I find to be just fine for a Game of this nature - - - this Game being a Tactical, as opposed to a twitch, shoot'em'up.

My Computer setup specifications:

ASUS M4A785-M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6 GHz Cpu, overclocked to 3.12~ Ghz | G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 ram | Ati Radeon HD 4850 Video Card | Creative Labs SB X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Pro > Optical out > YAMAHA RX-V365 ---> Beyerdynamic DT 990 2005 (600 ohm version) | WD WD2500KS 250 gig SATA Hard Drive

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for the Buck!

Pros: I stepped up from an old P4 3.2GHz with an ATI 3850 card and went to an Athlon II X3 3.0GHz and ATI 4850 card and the difference was mind-boggling. Most games run at their highest settings at 1440x900 resolution and some at 1680x1050 with no problems. My Win7 scores for both graphics and gaming graphics are at 7.3. I just looked at a review for the Nvidia GTS 250 card which I had considered and their scores are at 6.9 for each category... and that card costs 50% more! So glad I did my homework and went with the cheaper but faster option.

Cons: None that I can find so far.

Other Thoughts: Athlon II X3 3.0GHz
4GB DDR3 1600 RAM (G.Skill RipJaws 2x2GB)
ASUS M4A77TD Motherboard
ATI 4850
WD Caviar Blue 320GB (primary hard drive)
Antec 300 case

Overall cost ~$500. Full Win 7 Index scores (no overclocking): 6.8 CPU, 7.0 RAM, 7.3 Graphics, 7.3 Gaming, 5.9 HDD.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Crossfire Bridge

Pros: Runs great. Visiontek has the best warranty. Can't wait to set up the Crossfire.

Cons: No Crossfire Bridge in the box. Waiting on Visiontek to send me one. Had some trouble with the driver install but was able to make it work.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat bang for buck

Pros: I ordered this card almost a year ago for $180, and it was a great deal. very fast.

Cons: single slot cooling needs to be manually adjusted to %45 speed to keep temps out of danger area in the NJ summer heat. I will be buying Dark Knight CPU cooler, so that should drop the temps of everything in my case a bit. It looks like the newer models have different cooling that should be better.

Other Thoughts: I'm waiting for the DX11 cards to come out, and I may end up waiting for the 2nd generation of DX11 cards, since this one is so strong.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I already had a visiontek 4850 but decided I wanted to crossfire them and ordered new one. Hats off to newegg they shipped this card and I had it in 2 days. Installed it only to find that my board would not support it... Was my fault so thought I would keep it and put my old card in another system I had. The old card I have is top notch!!! Runs AOC without a issue and turns out killer FPS running on wireless....

Cons: This card was DOA! When I installed it I got the blue screen of Death and memory dumps. NOthing would fix it. WHen I called Visiontek support, NO ONE WAS THERE. I was told I had to put in a batch ticket. SO if you purchasing this and it works out of the box and you know how to trouble shoot for yourself, this is a GREAT Card. If you have issue though, you may want to go with another manuf.

Other Thoughts: Hats off to Newegg!! I called them and told them of my issue, they issued RMA and refund to me. GREAT Customer Service especially from Anthony!!! As I was treated so great by them, I upgraded to the the Sapphire 4850 Dual Card........I hope it is not DOA or I will likely loose faith in ATI for a while!

5 out of 5 eggsDon't be mislead

Pros: This is a good card period.

Cons: None, other than being a long card.

Other Thoughts: Company of Heroes is a game that favors NVidia VGA cards.
I was able to get GREAT frame rates with a ATI4850 card on an E5200 CPU overclocked to 3.8 Ghz. IF you do not have a real good processor and memory you will not be able to get Company of Heroes to have great frame rates with ATI4870s.

2 out of 5 eggsLotsa problems

Pros: Quiet. Nice 2D performance.

Cons: ..but I want 3D performance. Under Ubuntu Linux 9.04 the ATI drivers do not work. I end up with a black screen. I tried installing windows 7 and the installer hangs up with a blue screen of death. I can not complete the installation. I have tried all the tricks on the web to get this working. I have had no success.

Other Thoughts: I started from scratch building MaximumPCs $800 rig posted on their webstie. I did not feel the need to buy Vista. Even Vista users have had trouble with Radeon drivers. There are no 3D drivers that work with Ubuntu for me on this card. Windows 7 does not complete an installation because it BSOD's on an ATI driver. I'm switching to NVIDIA.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Poor

Pros: Decent Card...I guess?

Cons: I ran this card several times on Company of Heroes on 1680x1050 On all high settings and I actually got lower frames than I did with my XFX 9600GT (The exact same settings!) I averaged out 33.6FPS(on 5 games) with the 9600GT and 26.4FPS with this 4850, highly disappointing, runs very hot, and the manual fan past 50%(Standard) is obnoxiously loud. Not worth the money at all!!!! Highly unrecommended.

Other Thoughts: Blah
