5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: bought this card as a spare at a garage sale for 5 bucks a few years back now im using it as my ATI Radeon X1600PRO AGP failed me and this card works great works on MAX settings with the following games:
The Sims
The Sims 2
The Sims 3
Thrillville: Off The Rails
Driver Parallel Lines
Timeshift
Need For Speed Undercover
Need For Speed Prostreet

this card runs much cooler than my X1600 my 1600 got burning hot to touch this barely gets warm
it has a FULL Sized Molex power plug instead of the floopy power end the X1600PRO requires also runs fine on a 300W PSU where as the X1600 PRO requires 450W and runs burning hot
also 100% supported on Ubuntu with the ATI Driver installed

Cons: DONT USE the CD that comes with this card to install it as i did this and it really made the computer slow i thought it was a bad card untill i read NOT to use the CD to install instead goto the ATI (Not VisionTek) website and install the driver

NO Windows 2000 Driver only will work on XP or later first time ever i had a XP Driver NOT work on 2000

Other Thoughts: Better than the 3D Fusion GeForce FX 5500

1 out of 5 eggsDo not these cards!

Pros: None

Cons: Never did function as this radeon GPU should have on this type of video card setup. Poor performances from get go.

Other Thoughts: This company's (product not Newegg) does a really poor job of getting it right. First card went bad in 9 months, 4 weeks & $20.00 worth of shipping and handling charges later the "warranty replacement" showed up. It was a factory refurb "tested 100% good by their Technicians". After another wasted afternoon of installing, uninstalling & moving to 2 different machines...... guess what??! They have sent me yet another bad card, by the time I go through the shipping and handling to get yet another refurbished factory warranty card I'll have nearly as much in shipping & handling trying to get a working card as I paid for this total piece of scrap in the first place.... What a rip off. Based on my experience with this components "manufacture", avoid any and all products from this company.

Poor quality:
Poor Service:
Poor Warranty Replacement
I've wasted enough time, effort & money on their faulty hardware.. no more 4 me!

2 out of 5 eggsUmm?

Pros: Worked well for a lot of stuff.

Cons: That is until you opened up a game when either the card would over heat or enter an Infinite Loop.

Other Thoughts: Please save your money and just buy a different card.

2 out of 5 eggsLifetime Warranty... NOT!

Pros: I purchased this card in Aug of 2004 from xxx since it was on sale with a great rebate... this went along with $1,975.00 purchase from Newegg for my first computer build. So the pro side, the card (VisionTek Xtasy 9600 256MB) lasted several years.

Cons: the Con - yes, pun intended... is the so called 'Lifetime Warranty'. I emailed visiontek to get the return authorization along with the month and year of purchase, the my name and address that I used to register the product. They replied, "Do you have the receipt for this purchase? One of the requirements for warranty service is a copy of the receipt to validate the warranty on the card."

My response to them was that I had per their requirements sent them the original receipt along with the proof of purchase from the box (hated cutting up the box) and did not make a copy of said receipt ... but they had it!

This was on 4/21/2010... granted a month hasn't passed yet, wanna bet they don't ever reply? The warranty is a big part of my purchasing decision. Now I know to investigate the company's customer service. What good is a lifetime warranty if they don't honor it?!?!?!

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS CARD

Pros: It used to look awesome...

Cons: www.visiontek.com read the forums about all the problems. my problem was that it ran good for a week then started crashing the computer like crazy. If you try to get the drivers from AMD they will not work at all. I'm sorry about this AMD but its not your fault. Visiontek has some weird controller like processor on the back of the card near the gold contacts that gets extremely hot. On top of that I RMAed the card to Visiontek took two weeks to come back only to find out they took the cool skull heat sink and fan off and replaced the capacitors. Oh and by the way it still crashes the system even worse than before it wont let Window OR LINUX Boot. Its like they never bothered to test it at all.
If your thinking oh your ram, motherboard, processor, power supply ect is flawed guess again. I have tried all brand new parts, bios configurations, and hell I even wanted to try to write my own driver for it.

Other Thoughts: My old Raideon 9550 WORKED in ALL of the places this card has FAILED.

All I wanted was a nice video upgrade. For a friends computer made me look like a fool thanks Visiontek.
