2 out of 5 eggsNot as pictured. Works good by itself

Pros: Works great if it is only 1 card. I bought two and...see cons

Cons: Not the same as the picture (Comes with smaller heatsink). Not able to run in Crossfire. I specifically bought two because I run 3 monitors. In crossfire, one of the cards Immediately overheats and shuts down the OS.

Other Thoughts: I returned and bought two 5870's instead from a different vendor. Those work great in Crossfire. Thanks NewEgg for allowing return.

1 out of 5 eggsWrong card was sent

Pros: Waiting on the replacement card. No pros yet.

Cons: To start off I was sent the wrong card. Tried it anyways and it fried my power supply and nearly melted my motherboard because the video card overheated to an extreme temperature.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has fixed this problem no questions asked, sending me a replacement upon the return of this fried video card.

4 out of 5 eggsREAD before you buy!

Pros: Very good 4870, run as a 4870 should.
90fps on full settings on modern warfare 2
Bad company 2 high setting running at 60fps

Cons: I bought this card on 2/12/10 and RMA it since it was not the correct card.. I called Newegg and told them that the picture was misleading and they were willing to refund me despite the exchange policy. I bought the 5870 instead.

Other Thoughts: Core 2 quad 8400, 2.66Ghz OC @ 3Ghz
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
8Gb Ram 1066
5870
1TB HD

3 out of 5 eggsThe one pictured is not what I received

Pros: It works fine, no technical problems at all.

Cons: Unfortunately, the card I received had a much smaller heatsink, and nothing at all to cool the RAM. I ordered this one above the others because I thought I was getting the heatsink and fan shown in the picture. I didn't RMA it because of the exchange-only policy.

Other Thoughts: I have this in crossfire with a Sapphire 4870 1GB and I only get a 25% increase in performance, according to 3dmark06.
scored 16,000 with just one, 20,000 in crossfire. I have a brand-new Gigabyte GA790FX MB, Phenom II X4, Windows 7 ultimate, etc. I didn't think crossfire was brand-specific, but I suppose I could be wrong. Different brands may be finicky as far as working together. I know motherboards and RAM could be tricky sometimes in the past.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for price

Pros: I don't own this exact model but I do own a Visiontek HD 4870 512mb that I bought from Best Buy a few years ago right after it first came out. Mine has two fans and looks a little different. Same overall card though. This thing rocks in Crysis and any high performance games.

Cons: Only issue I have is that the drivers from ATI seem to be a little flaky lately. Let me elaborate: I have noticed over the past year or so many of my games 'judder' or 'skip' alot in certain areas or when looking in certain directions. Clear sky works horribly with this card in anything more than static lighting. Whenever looking at a campfire or a certain direction there is this horrible stutter on Direct3d9 or 10. I don't know if it's the game but many people don't complain about it so maybe not. It happens in other games too. Was thinking about buying an old 8800 GTS 640mb just to see if it IS in fact the ATI drivers that are messing up the gameplay in many of my games.

Other Thoughts: I took an egg off for the driver issue that I believe is the true cause of the stuttering I was speaking of. For the money though this card is awesome. You won't notice a difference between the 1gb or 512mb version unless you are at 1920 x 1200 with AA on, and the difference will be a few frames at that. If on a budget get the 512mb version.

System - Visiontek 4870 512mb, Corsair Dominator 4gb 1066mhz 5-6-6-18 @ 2T, Wolfdale E6300 @ 3.6ghz, Caviar Black 640gb, Gigabyte EP45-UD3L board, DVD/RW combo drive made out of dung, Antec 1200 case, with Antec EA650 PSU running max of 650w and three 12v rails.

5 out of 5 eggsOld 512MB version, and still strong

Pros: Like the title says, I own the original version when it only came with 512MB of memory. However, after all this time this card still takes anything I throw at it.

Modern Warfare 2, Crysis: Warhead (no AA), Mass Effect 2, Resident Evil 5, I could go on. Every game I've played is maxed out without any hint of a FPS drop below buttery smooth. With double the memory now, and at this price (I think I dropped $300), you can't go wrong. Crossfire 2 of 'em and you should be good for another couple years at least.

Cons: Mine's fan is very quiet up to a point, but then it gets pretty loud very fast. However, it's also very intelligent about when to turn the fan up or down, so when it matters you probably won't even notice it.

The only other thing is with DX11 right around the corner, you'll be left behind in that respect.

Other Thoughts: It was an amazing card when it came out, and with the memory and the price now, this is still an amazing alternative to the 5000 series.

5 out of 5 eggsGPU Works, But Misleading Photo

Pros: It works as advertised, no defects in displaying graphics. I bought the card for Battlefield Bad Company 2, and it runs at 60-70 fps on full settings.

Cons: Again, I'm another person who heard that this card can run really hot, so I was pleased to see the photo of the huge heatsink. I was expecting to receive what the photo showed. Instead, I got a completely different heatsink/fan that is much smaller. I wish I could separately rate Newegg's service; the card is OK, but it shouldn't be rated lower because of my experience in buying it.

Other Thoughts: Hmm... be wary of misleading photos on Newegg? Seriously, this is false advertising. I don't even care if the fan/heatsink I have cools the GPU more effectively than the one shown - I purchased what I saw in the photo. And I didn't get it. What now?

3 out of 5 eggsNot the same as pictured

Pros: quiet fan, runs most of the older games smoothy (finally play HL2 with 200 fps, DOOM 3 on Ultra, ect)

Cons: I bought the one on the picture because it looked like it had a decent heatsink and I was looking for a card that would not overheat, when it arrived at my house it was a completely different card with a different fan, no heatsink.

Thus the card is hotter than it should be... it idles at 60c with the fan at 80-100%

and when in Load with WoW or other games it peaks in around 70c... when I was sitting at the wow loggin menu(WOTLK) one it peaked at 86c..

now that's scary...

Other Thoughts: Would've been good if it was like the one pictured on the photo here, I feel ripped off for getting something completely different, newegg should realize that people do buy things because of how they look, and or what heatsinks they have.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat you see is not what you get

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cheap

Other Thoughts: I have always thought newegg was an honest company but putting a dual slot card with a high performance cooler in the picture then delivering a stripped down single slot model with a small fan and cooler is not good bussiness.

4 out of 5 eggsPicture misleading!

Pros: Seems to be a fine card, have not tested that much yet. See other thoughts.....

Cons: The heatsink pictured is NOT the one on the card I received:-(.
My experience is the same as the reviewer before me, I wanted the hot air expelled out of the case.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to jump in here and warn people of what they will get if they order this card so I haven't had a chance to really test the card yet although it is working just fine so far.
