5 out of 5 eggsdecent mid range gpu

Pros: great card for a budget gaming rig. runs cool and quiet. only requires one 6-pin pci-express connector. crossfire compatible.

Cons: 1gb vram @ 128 bus is meh. wish they gave 256 bus, then 1gb would be fine. but that 128 bus holds it back
visiontek is not known for their quality but this is basically a stock design so who cares.

Other Thoughts: had two in crossfire worked well. but one is fine too in a budget gaming pc. recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cards,

Pros: Runs extremely cool. Will not go past 50C in Battlefield maxed out. In crossfire mode, two of these cards will run even cooler, like around 30-45C even for games like Metro 2033 or Crysis Warhead. I like to run my fans at 100% all the time, keeps them even cooler. These are reference cards, not factory overclocked, so they are pretty stable. They use the same fan as the HIS HD7770, and they even look similar (coincidence?), even the same blue PCB and blue fan. Upgraded from a Sapphire HD5770 Crossfire, and think it's a really nice performance boost (in case you ever want to get a second one) which many blogs compare to a GTX580. But just to give you an Idea, I could not run Battlefield 3 with anti-aliasing on, now I can run it with AA to the max and no slow down whatsoever. And this is with a 3 year old AMD Phenom II X4 965 (as opposed to Bulldozers, which came out this year). These cards seem better constructed than even more mainstream brands like XFX or Sapphire. Not a well known brand, but Visiontek is a U.S. company, apparently they have been around for a long time.

Cons: The drivers. The drivers are terrible. Certain games freeze up, like The Witcher 2, Crysis 2 lags in crossfire, Prototype 2 is a lagfest. Installing modded driver from fixed the issues (it's the modded version of Catalyst 12.11 Beta) in Windows 7 64bit. The regular 12.10 driver works in Windows 8 64bit and windows 8 has no issues with the drivers or the cards (please do not attempt upgrade to Windows 8 just to fix this issue, it is fixable in Windows 7. I am not advising you against this, do it if you want, but don't do it just for this one issue as you will need to do a clean install of Windows 8, unless you have time to spare to reinstall all your stuff XD. For example I installed Windows 8 on a spare blank drive I had laying around).

Other Thoughts: Take up two slots in your motherboard, one PCI-express slot and one PCI slot were blocked. You can still fit very slim cards in between them, keep in mind they do have to be extremely slim to fit and avoid the fans.

4 out of 5 eggsEfficient

Pros: The card is about comparable to an Nvidia 450 or 460 card only lower power use ( as stated on Toms Hardware ) and it will run GW2 on full 1920x1080 at medium/high with 60FPS. It runs cool and barely spews any heat out the back. Perfect for a midrange gaming/ always on machine.

Cons: ATI driver support. This is not isolated to this card. First it shrunk the screen size by an inch and a google search fixed that, however whenever the screen blanks out for any reason it will lose signal with the TV it is connected to. Annoying but not a deal breaker given the efficiency. The capacitors on this card look cheap, and I would suggest keeping the fan clean so as to keep the cooling up

Other Thoughts: As with anything when doing a custom machine be ready to have to troubleshoot. The catalyst driver software is not very intuitive or friendly and could take some navigating.
