  • newegg GCN Architecture Graphics Core Next (GCN) architectures, the world's first 28nm GPU architecture, enables AMD to fit up to 4.3 billion transistors-the most basic building blocks of a GPU-into approximately the same space once needed to fit 2.6 billion. Increasing transistor density by greater than 60% is more than just a feat of engineering-it's responsible for the world's most powerful and advanced GPU. Designed to push not only the boundaries of DirectX 11 gaming, the GCN Architecture is also AMD's first design specifically engineered for general computing. Equipped with up to 32 compute units (2048 stream processors), each containing a scalar coprocessor, AMD's 28nm GPUs are more than capable of handling workloads-and programming languages-traditionally exclusive to the processor. Coupled with the dramatic rise of GPU-aware programming languages like C++ AMP and OpenCL, the GCN Architecture is truly the right architecture for the right time.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for Scrypt mining

Pros: It has been mining at 410 Kh/s to 430 Kh/s 24/7 for about a month at 80c. Same price as the Radeon 7870 cards but twice the hash rate.

Cons: More hardware errors than other cards but much higher hash rates

Other Thoughts: Newegg please get these back in stock, its been close to a month.

2 out of 5 eggsgood card... until it dies

Pros: Good price
Moderate cooling .
Factory over clocked
Runs games at high settings
Not too long and fits in case easily
Only takes up two slots
Only requires one six pin power adaptor (nvidia cards usually draw more power and need two 6/8 pin connections)

Cons: AMD drivers sucked. Catalyst control centre always gave problem by placing gpu under constant 100% load. I tried over six versions until I finally removed all amd software except for the eassential video card driver itself.

Died within six months of use. While browsing the internet, screen flickers and beige screen appears , that's it, no prior warning signals.

Other Thoughts: I am hell bent on cooling so my case is filled with fans and sounds like a jet engine with Silverstone 140 mm fans and four other 125 cfm 120 mm fans. I even bought the Gelid video card cooler to put on this card and had side fan extracting air.
Case temps have always been under 30 degrees and gfx temps under 20 without load and under 35 with load.
I also only overclocked at first because as I said catalyst caused lot of trouble and without that I wasn't able to oc the card.
So I find its unexpected demise very disappointing.
I am currently looking for a Gtx 760 to replace this, and as Another reviewer said I am going with a known brand , Asus , Evga , Gigabyte or MSI.

5 out of 5 eggsAn amazing GPU.

Pros: The card just got delivered to my house today, and I've been testing it out on my steam account.
So far, I've been able to run Skyrim at Ultra settings at 1600x900 100% smooth, Far Cry 3 at Optimal at 1600x900 very smoothly, Assassins Creed 2 at the same settings; smooth, of course, and Grand Theft Auto 4 at around High settings.
Installing BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider right now, and I've got to say I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

I bought it while it was $180, but it's still worth it for $195 now. It took a week to deliver it to South Dakota.

Cons: As I said, I've only had this card for a few hours now, so I can't really say many cons. The only con so far is that the card is rather large inside my computer.

Other Thoughts: 10/10, worth the buy I'd say.

2 out of 5 eggsOne of them didnt last

Pros: It worked....for awhile

Cons: This card appears to be somewhat below par performance-wise unless you overclock it right up there. Then it performs fairly well....but it seems overclocking does quick damage to it, even though it is an overclock edition. I have two of these cards originally meant for crossfire application. I had them crossfired for 3 days and one died.

Other Thoughts: for the $195.99 price tag, I think you could do better. VisionTek will not warrantee any card that has been overclocked, despite the fact that Catalyst Control Center default setting for this card is overclocked. If you set the settings down low, it doesnt even perform as well as a 5770. This being my first crossfire config, I had some hard lessons to learn. My best adsvice is to read your PC Magazine or Maximum PC or even PC Gamer and check out the graphic card reviews. Stick to one they advise. If you run this card, run it single, no crossfire!

4 out of 5 eggsNice card.

Pros: Plays everything at max settings 1080p at acceptable framerates. That being 40-60+

Not quite everything actually. Crysis 3 murders this card on very high but I set it to a mix between medium and high and it runs fine (~35+). Im thinking its a coding problem on their end since the framerate is so unstable. Seems to be the norm though. Would expect higher frames at lower resolution.

Runs quiet from what I can tell. Usually have headphones on or the games blasting when its working hard.

Easy to OC

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Solid midrange card.

Would recommend if you dont want to spend a little more on the 79xx or the new 8xxx series cards.

5 out of 5 eggsthis is a awesome card

Pros: this card is awesome it plays everything i throw at it fallout 3,batman, left 4 dead, and more. its fast, and can be overclocked, and the gpu voltage can be adjusted too using the asus gpu tweak. overclocked mine a little, and got a bandwidth of 160.5 and its stable. it also runs good with only 2gb of memory which is all i have until my memory comes. cool, and quiet even during heavy game play, and its low power consumption running on a 400 w power supply with one six pin power connector thats it all i can said is buy this card you will not be sorry. came in new condition using latest and driver. it also improves your internet, and video playing. once you must buy it great upgrade for gaming if you do not $250-$300 to spend. beats my hd 7770 that was good but this is awesome. peace out

Cons: none except it has a lifetime warranty on it too. you can not go wrong with this card.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Price for a 2gb 7850

Cons: The last 5 video cards I've bought have been Sapphire or Asus, and those have been fantastic. I decided to give this Visiontek a try because of the lower price for a 7850, but it is really junk. The card causes games to crash to desktop frequently, saying the display driver has stopped responding. Nothing in the system is overclocked and temperatures are low. I hope newegg will give me a refund on this.

5 out of 5 eggsNice.

Pros: Good price and Performance. Paired with a FX 6100 o/c to 4ghz, runs WoW in Ultra settings at constant 60fps (V-sync enabled) and only have seen it drop to ~40 fps in a 40 man open world raid. Also runs Borderlands 2 max at 60 FPS as well.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: This is the O/C edition! This was a nice plus when I got it. I would recommend this to anyone.

Cons: no cons for the card.

Other Thoughts: get 2 to get great 1080p gaming performance
