Geared for the gamer with high demands but a low budget, the 6200 series sports the same rendering power of their 6600 series cards for best-in-class performance for today's applications and games. The sixth-generation GeForce chips are the only GPU in their class to support Microsoft's DirectX 9.0 specifications with Pixel Shader 3.0 and full Vertex support. No bargain-basement images here: the 6200 is also OpenGL 2.0 compliant – the industry standard for high performance graphics.
The 6200 features four pixel pipelines and has a respectable core clock speed of 300MHz with a lightning-quick 533MHz memory clock. A full 256MB of 64-bit GDDR2 memory delivers cutting edge graphics at a full 2048x1536 resolution and with the ability to go large on an external display using the S-Video output.
The CineFX 3.0 engine delivers stunning special effects with smoother graphics and faster gameplay – even in complex scenes with multiple lighting sources. Nvidia's Unified Driver Architecture ensures forward and backward compatibility with software drivers.

Great card for PCI
- Pros: This is a great card for the obsolete PCI bus interface. Installed on a customer's computer (old Dell) that did not have either a PCI-E or AGP slots. DDR2 memory and 256mb RAM is a great plus, rare in PCI cards. Overwhelming improvement over the integrated Intel video. (Please see "Other" about benchmarks) Installation was easy as long as you know how to install new drivers and disable onboard video. The card actually has a 2-prong VGA power-socket for the installation of a video card fan. (See con) The heatsink fins are strong, and easily supported the screws to affix a fan.
- Cons: This card has only passive cooling (heatsink - no fan). It runs extremely hot. This is not really a con as you can see this in the pictures provided. I did not have a fan that can connect to the onboard 2prong socket, so I installed a 4pin molex fan and connected it to an unused 4pin line off the PSU. Now, this card has no con :) Just a note: the card worked just fine with no fan playing games for over half an hour. The need for a fan is out of paranoia and personal preference. It is also very wise to tread on the safe side. If you are getting a black screen when logging into Windows with this card, it is because the integrated video is still the PRIMARY video solution. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE CARD. Temporarily hook the monitor to the integrated video and go into Control Panel > Display and change this in the Settings tab. Now the card should work just fine. Ppl who have complained about this problem are having obvious PEBKAC and 1d10t errors.
- Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that you already know from the pictures that this video card does not come with a fan. That's ok...you can pick up a cheap $5 fan for a 2pin socket or 4pin molex and screw it between the heatsink fins. Benchmarks using this card in Second Life: Went from 4-5 fps with integrated to over 10 fps with this card (Keep in mind that Secondlife is very tough on even high end machines. A difference of only 5 fps is a big improvement, and may translate to 20+fps in other games. Also, this is not a graphics accelerated port [PCI]) Final thought: If you have a restricted motherboard and do not have AGP/PCI-E, this is the card to get.
Best PCI video card available Sept 07
- Pros: Inexpensive! 256mb GDDR2 memory @533mhz, 300 mhz core clock speed, low-profile fanless design, dual output, DirectX 9 compatible.
Better than nVidia 5200 or 5500 for about same price.
- Cons: Only 4 pixel pipelines, 64 bit memory interface (not that you'd need any more for a PCI card).
Didn't come with a low-profile back-plate. Odd, considering this is a low-profile card. Fortunately I had a spare low-profile backplate laying around and was able to switch out back-plates by unplugging the D-SUB cable from the card and just used the included DVI to D-sub adapter to connect monitor.
- Other Thoughts: This is basically a faster-clocked nVidia 5200/5500 (300mhz core clock vs 250mhz, 533mhz memory vs 400mhz, 400mhz ramdacs vs 350mhz). Memory bandwith is 4.26gb/s vs 3.2 for the 5200.
I had a 2004 HP DC5000 SFF in our office and I wanted to be able to play some games on it so I found this little gem. I'm able to play WoW at 1280x1024 with all the details turned down except object distance draw (which is at max) and I get 20-25 fps even in the outlands! By comparison I was getting 12-18 with an nVidia 5500.
If you're looking for something cheap to throw in an old PCI computer that's low profile and doesn't have a dedicated graphics slot, this is the card to get.
As a side note, you'll probably need the latest bios for you motherboard. I couldn't get any PCI card to work until I updated from the original bios to the last one they came out with. Don't forget to disable the onboard video in the bios and then set up the appropriate video from the desktop properties/settings menu.

Great card to run Windows 7 Aero
- Pros: - Great performance.
- Transformed my mediocre computer into a great computer. - Windows 7 installed the driver for me.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: I installed Windows 7 onto my Dell Dimension 2400 and needed a video card to support the Aero interface. I bought this card based on the high user feedback. Installation was straitforward, except that the VGA cable barely fit between the card and the computer case, but it did fit. Video performance is great and exceeded my expectations. Windows 7 was even nice enough to install the newest driver for me. The windows experience index also increased. Graphics increased from a score of 1.0 to 2.4 and Gaming graphics increased from 1.9 to 3.1 . If you have an older computer and want to run Windows 7, then this is the video card for you.
Pain in the you-know-what to install, but here are some pointers for the rest of you
- Pros: The video looks better than the Dell Dimension 3100 onboard graphics.
- Cons: What a pain to install. I kept getting a black screen after the windows logo. Finally fixed it - here is what I did for those of you having problems:
1. Install the card and connect your monitor to it. 2. Boot into safe mode with networking. 3. Windows will find your new hardware and install it. 4. Go into device manager and disable the onboard graphics (I couldn't do it in the bios, the best I could do was set the option to "auto" there). 5. Reboot normally.
Good Card
- Pros: EVGA has great cards. This card for a PCI is great. I got the card for an Intel® 845GL chipset. I have 1.128gb of ram with a 2.0GHz Processor. The card went right in and then trouble,(see con).
- Cons: After install I had already read about the drivers, so I down loaded from EVGA, well as you know it, when booting up you could get to the XP screen, then just black screen, and yes bios was set for PCI. Called EVGA Tech support, they did good, but when in safe mode tried dumping all drivers and reboot, no go, the only way to get the card to work was to crash the hard drive, then load the chipset drivers for the motherboard, then the drivers for the card. Worked after that but then the real work started, loading all updates and reloading programs on.
- Other Thoughts: Bad to have to crash the hard drive and reload your whole system, EVGA's fault there, but as always, Newegg was johnny on the spot with shipping, here in 3 days and happy as all get-out with Newegg, have never gotten anything bad from them and fast shipping, I have ordered from Newegg for over 3 years now and never ever got nothing but fast service and great parts.
