Very nice card
- Pros: Very nice card runs everything fast can max out anything except crysis. I play AGe of Empires, Battlefield, Crysis, and i'v tested some other games and am surrpised how high I can play and how smooth it is.
- Cons: NONE HERE!
- Other Thoughts: I Just built my new pc (8800 gt 512, 4 gigs of ram, 2.66 ghz itnel core duo, vista) and my old pc was a 6600 agp, 1 gig of ram, 2.2 processor pentiem. I can't believe how much better this is. I played Age of empires 3 for the first time on thsi. And couldnt' believe how smooth it went. I RECOMMEND BUYING THIS CARD ITS A GOOD DEAL!
Some ideas
- Pros: Let's see, not noisy, very stable, powerful card, no high temps like in my old x1800xt card, can play 99% of games at high specs without lags. ( at least at WinXP ). Very slim, so all PCI slots are open for spare cards. Low power consumption ( about which i don't really care ). Crysis game is a plus. Step up program is nice to have, life time warranty is another plus, evga also allows overclocks and fan swapping without warranty void. However, no need to overclock to play games IT"S ALREADY support most games on max specs. Manufactures overcloak is a plus.
- Cons: Longer than my ATI x1800xt about 1 inch, but not making a big difference for my Antec900. Going to be obsolete in about 6 month again, like every other card that just came out, or even faster. Ntune software for overcloaking is absolute garbage, use third party software to overcloak.
- Other Thoughts: Overall card is very good. Evga is the best manufacture considering it's polices. Don't forget to register the card in order to get life time warranty and activate the step up program you have 30 days from the date of invoice. Guys and Gals don't follow the trend of buying two high end cards, because one of it can do the trick for 99% of us out there, do the step up program, then use new card for 6 month and only then buy second card to keep up.
Where I am coming from : I am Technician at Computer Store, build game systems every other week, also fix home computers. I pretty much tried all top of the line video cards... not a big difference between Sli and single GTX versus single 8800GT.
PS Sry for mistakes in review just studying English.
Best bang for the buck and then some
- Pros: Best price/performance ratio on the market.
This thing can even handle the almighty Crysis.
Currently, im running Crysis at: 1600x1200 HIGH settings (except shadows/post proc) Sunshafts enabled 16xAF EdgeAA set to 2X
And I am average 30+ FPS, phenomenal performance if you ask me.
It also handles every other game on the market very remarkably at at 1600x1200 with all settings usually on HIGH/maxed out.
Heck, this thing competes with a $500 GTX in most cases, neck and neck.
- Cons: No longer a con, since EVGA released a new firmware that takes care of it, but there was a problem with the fan not speeding up accordingly.
- Other Thoughts: Best card for the money on the market, and even allows you to run Crysis smoothly.
