5 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: Easy installation. 1 Slot. Bought this to replace a 7600GT that was nice also but I needed extra power at 1600 x 1200. This 8800GT runs COD4 at 1600 x 1200 every setting I could find maxed out with minimum FPS so far at 37 FPS during heavy combat. Thats quite playble for what Im used to.

Cons: I had to buy from Tiger Direct because Newegg was out of stock and the other reasonably priced 8800's have a no return policy. I was afraid this card would not fit and I could not return it. It barely cleared a capacitor height.

Occasionaly revs up and sounds like the aliens in War of the Worlds (spOoky).

Other Thoughts: Not too power hungry and handles 1600 x 1200 nicely.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid Performance

Pros: Took a 3 year old PC and made it run the newest games. absolutely superior card. Awesome Price. Awesome Warrantee

Cons: I cant think of any. I mean really. I cant.

Other Thoughts: The price is reasonable. you SHOULD chose this one over the 8600GTS. I ran both. This one is a HUGE increase. So if you are debating spending the extra on the 8800 go for it. I got this version. The 256 and at my res on my 19 inch LCD it is perfect

5 out of 5 eggsRocks windows, not linux

Pros: Rocks all the games I play on max settings. Installed easily and is quieter than my old card.

Cons: I'm dual booting XP and ubuntu and there are no ubuntu drivers for this thing yet. There are some forum posts about how to set it up, but I haven't tried getting into that yet, as I'm new to linux.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure there is a way to get this to work with ubuntu, but it's not as easy as it should be yet.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: price/performance ratio

Cons: if you have a monitor capable of res higher than 1280x1024 this won't give you the kick you need for gaming

Other Thoughts: does just as well in benchmarks as the 512mb version as long as screen res is at or below 1280x1024, so i had no reason to spend the extra cash for the 512.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the Price!

Pros: This card is very good. It fit fine in my Antec nine hundred case, stays 45c idle and 49c with crysis on. Stays very cool, and i can play crysis on all high settings on certain maps. A mixture of Medium- High does the trick though!

Cons: big, but is still have about 5 inches left in my antec 900.

5 out of 5 eggsthe best at its price point

Pros: 650MHz core clock. 1800MHz effective memory. great brand and excellent warranty. i play crysis at 1440 X 900 resolution with a mixture of medium and high settings with very good frames compared to other video cards. maxes unreal tournament 3 out with absolute ease, same with half-life 2 and far cry. runs cool at about 49 celcius at idle and mid-sixties at load with fan tuned to 50% through riv*tuner.

Cons: 650MHz core clock! 1800MHz effective memory! these are somewhat cons if one is an overclocker because he or she could have done this manually; otherwise, these are only pros.

Other Thoughts: the card already comes factory overclocked, which one could have done easily while paying for a slightly less expensive baseline card. i overclocked mine even further to 701MHz for the core and 1942MHz for the effective memory. by using riv*tuner, i also overclocked the shader clock from 1620MHz to 1747MHz. download riv*tuner for free and look for guides over the net to learn how to adjust your fan speeds with respect to the core's temperature.

5 out of 5 eggsMust have for gamers on a budget

Pros: Easy to install for anybody. I simply replaced my old card rebooted computer and downloaded most up to date chipset. I am running XP and have had NO problems. My BF2 runs smooth as silk on HIGH seetings. Just waiting for 1GB of RAM to really make things zoom.

Cons: The card is really big so just make sure you have the room in your case before you buy.

Other Thoughts: Gotta love the Egg!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible pay the extra for the 8800

Pros: Took a Pentium 4 3.2 rig and completely rejuvenated it. Amazing performance. I can run any game out there now. Crysis.. NO problem COD4 NO Problem. flight sim X. NO Problem. It is the boost of freshness my PC needed.

Cons: I cant think of one. I really cant. I bought from NewEgg so you know that you got it for the lowest cost.

Other Thoughts: I am a flight simmer. My old video card used to chunk up on landing and that was with medium settings going. Now its amazing. You wouldn't think that you could plug this into a 2 year old system and make it act like the systems people pay 1000s for. It is as amazing an upgrade as a boost in RAM used to be 5 years ago. I am running the latest games and having a blast flying in an environment that truly is NOW.. "As real as it gets" Thanks NVIDIA! Thanks NewEGG! Shipping was stellar.. as usual. I bought a 8600GTS FIRST.. which proved to be a mistake. The video chunked a little with the 8600GTS.. you could see the textures filling which I hear is a hallmark of the ram size. This 8800GT has faster RAM.. so it fills and empties quicker from what I hear.. and.. the performance is A LOT better. pony up the extra 50 bucks and dont bother with the 8600GTS. it IS worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: Scored 11700 on 3Dmark06 with E6600cpu at 3.2ghz. In SLI I scored 14300! Resolutions were at 1280 x 1024. Amazing price for the performance. Runs Crysis without skipping a beat on medium settings at 1280 x 1024 resolution. It ran it on high, however I could def tell the fps were suffering.

Cons: 256mb video ram, however if you run at 1280 x 1024 resolution it doesnt make a diff between the 512 and 256 versions.

Other Thoughts: Price came down 10 bucks since i bought mine...
