Great Card and Great Value
- Pros: When all is said and done the 8800GTS SSC 640MB (G80) holds its own versus the more popular 8800GT 512MB (G92) and 8800GTS 512MB (G92). Most people confuse this card with the slower and older 8800GTS 640MB cards because of the naming, but the SSC edition is a re-release from EVGA which features unlocked stream processors and higher clock speeds bringing the cards actual SPs to 112 and actual processing speeds on par with its GT counterpart. With its higher speeds and improved memory this card will generally outperform or run neck and neck with a 512MB (G92) GT. And often run neck in neck with the 512MB (G92) GTS, what gives it the edge over the generally more powerful (G92) GTS is the SSC's enhanced memory clock speed, and greater memory bandwith. This card is also a great one for overclocking.
- Cons: The only negatives to this card as others have already pointed out repeatedly is the fact that in some cases it might run a little hot- in most it wont, and it is indeed a bit of a power hog. If you can run this card on a 450 watt PSU, you will be skating on thin ice, but its possible. More then likely you will want a quality 650 to 700 watt PSU for breathing room though. Because of the fact this card is based on the G80 core it sometimes is slightly overpowered by the G92 based 8800GTS 512MB cards in *some* situations because of its 16 extra stream processors and faster core clock (650 versus 576) and it's faster shader clock (1625 versus 1350).
- Other Thoughts: This card simply performs as you would expect for its price range. It is an EOL card, but it is easily among the best of the 8800GTS series and THE best of the G80 core.
Hope this review helps folks out.
This is NOT a Superclocked
- Pros: Works great out of the box and easily handles AoC on a 1920x1200 res LCD at high settings
Higher memory bandwidth than the G92 based 8800GTS & 9800GTX
- Cons: Does not play nice with my older, almost identical, EVGA 8800GTS Superclocked when setup in SLI
Had to pull down the extra OC I had on the older unit back down to the stock OC
- Other Thoughts: This is the higher 112 pipe version compared to the older 96 pipe.
This should be noted just in case you buy this to SLI with a previously purchased 8800GTS

i love it...
- Pros: i also bought a samsung 24' monitor and now i can use 1920x1200 and Tabula Rasa i can now use the highest settings and it looks awsome. i just upgraded to vista and it also looks superb...
- Cons: none yet...
- Other Thoughts: i had no problems installing it and it works great!
Very nice
- Pros: This card has solid performance, as well as plenty of speed.
- Cons: it's big, and it seems to run a bit warm, but I believe it may be my case
- Other Thoughts: I have two of these with an E6600 OC'd to 3.4 Ghz and my Ram is running a 5-5-5-15, which I believe is why these things run a bit hot, and they like to suck on power. I had to adjust my Power Supply to 650 watts to compensate for the power drain because My PC wouldn't turn on unless I reset the Power Supply from the switch on the back. 460watts wasn't enough. They Perform well, and I had no trouble installing them.. though they are quite big.. just plan for it. any of the 8000 series Geforce cards are monsters, so just be aware. I don't see any reason to take 'eggs' away, because all I am seeking is a great increase in performance, and that I received.... the rest is ancillary.
Good card for the money
- Pros: Swapped out my old OC'ed 7800GT for this. Not top of the line but probably the best performance/value ratio currently.
- Cons: Haven't seen any. Some people think the fan is loud, I can't hear mine under my desk, especially compared my optical drives when in use.
- Other Thoughts: Throw on a $30 passive Artic Cooling on this thing and it'll lower the temps a ton for cheap.
