NVIDIA's ninth generation series of graphics cards brings cutting edge technology and advanced capabilities together for best-in-class performance. The 9600GT is the solution for all your graphic needs. It’s Microsoft Vista ready and equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 interface for the most up-to-date system. Its NVIDIA SLI technology doubles your performance range by letting you use two graphics cards in parallel.

Support for DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 2.1 and NVIDIA's PureVideoHD technologies are also built in. The card's core clock runs at 700MHz, relieving your CPU of pixel crunching duty. Data surges through the 9600's 64 stream processors which are fed by 512MB of 256-bit 1900MHz GDDR3 memory. Twin dual-linked DVI and 400 MHz RAMDAC lets you display 2560 x 1600 resolution video and graphics on even the largest monitors.

In addition to supporting multiple monitors, you can output to other video displays via the S-Video and HDTV connectors for maximum flexibility. The 9600GT delivers fluid frame rates and HD video with brilliant clarity to give you an entertainment experience that is easy on the eyes – as well as on the wallet.

1 out of 5 eggsWished I could have...

Pros: This card was nice at first, but like other posters I got the black screen of death. I have this card sitting around at my apartment. Its a shame, I would have liked to see what it could do.

Cons: Black screen of death. I dropped 180 in this card and got little for it. I couldn't play any of my games for long without it going black. Power supply was 600watts, with the adapted for card.

Manufacturer Response:

I do apologize if you are having issues getting the card working properly. I can recommend you try the steps outlined in this FAQ: if you still have the black screen issue please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842 or me directly,, so we can assist you further.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Single Slot, very fast for its price, 512MB memory, fast shader and memory clock. Runs all my games perfectly

Cons: Drivers still need to mature a little. Sometimes windows desktop has wierd flickering on secondary monitor. All i have to do is disable then re-enable the second monitor. Indicating that its a drive issue. Other than that no complaints.

Other Thoughts: All games run at 1280x768 on a 19" widescreen(Native 1440x900) Makes the games eaiser to play because stuff is bigger.
COD4 - MAX settings/16xAF/4xAA/70+FPS
TF2 - MAX settings/8x AF/4xAA/60+FPS
All of my other games except crysis can be run at MAX with 4xAA and get 50+FPS so all games are playable.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid card

Pros: Easy install, solid performer. Able to max out FEAR,HL2,Teamfortress 2 @ 1680x1050 with silky smooth FPS. Plays crysis 1440x900 most medium-high 25+ fps no prob.

Cons: Card may be a little big for some boards/cases. No problem with my micro atx mobo or case fits snug blocks nothing but may on some systems.

Other Thoughts: Am happy but at times wished I had looked around more and bought eVGA's 8800gt as it is about the same price from newegg and is considerably faster at higher resolutions.

1 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: NONE!!!!

Cons: I purchased 2 of these when they first came out and I was blown away by how fast they were, then the problems started. The benchmarks were great, but I could not play a single game without getting the black screen of death. I did lots of research and saw this is a very common problem. Just google 9600 gt and black screen and you will see this happens alot. I called the manufacturer and he even admitted the problem. So I sent these 2 back and got 2 8800gt's instead. NO PROBLEMS on the 8800's so do yourself a favor and just get the 8800's. Much better and no hassles!!

Other Thoughts: e8400, evga 780i, 2 8800 gt's in sli, ximatech heatsink with kaze 120 fan, 4 gig dominator 800ddr2, ultra xvs 700w and ultra case with 2 120's. 2 320 sata hdd's, xp pro

Manufacturer Response:

I would like to work with you directly to solve this issue.

Please contact me directly at so we can get this corrected.

2 out of 5 eggsBlack Screen / Static Snow at times

Pros: Great card when I first got it - had high frame rates and everything looked great and ran great!

Cons: Up to just a couple of days ago, things were great, then all of a sudden the card started acting up - getting the black screen (no video signal) and on occassion would get static/snow in the color screens (like windows boot screen) upon random reboot after black screen (doesn't happen all the time) - the more I read, the more I think my power supply isn't putting out the 26 amps on the 12v rails as the card supposedly needs. My Antec TPII 550 runs at 19A on the 12v rails - so I'm replacing my power supply - my concern is that I may have done some kind of damage to the card already - only time will tell - but I find it odd that it had been running flawlessly for so long then all of a sudden the issue that everyone else is speaking of started up; so I have my doubts now about EVGA...

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Single-slot design is always nice, fairly quiet fan after drivers are installed. Runs all my games very very well, Crysis for one runs amazing on high settings, can't run very high because I don't have Vista so I'm not sure how that works.

Cons: Loud fan if drivers aren't installed or when rebooting the computer, not really a big deal at all because its only like that for a few seconds during a reboot.

Other Thoughts: When running Crysis on high (1024x768 res.) using the stock speed on E6550 (2.33Ghz) the framerate is a little choppy. I then overclocked my CPU to 3.20Ghz and it runs buttery smooth now. Great buy for being a mid-range card, SLI'ing them would definitly help with lower framerates.

4 out of 5 eggsSLI

Pros: Great Performance in SLI - 18,426 3DM 06 Marks w/ 4GB OCZ and E8400 @ 4.0Ghz , WVU 64Bit

Cons: Runs Hot even in a well ventilated Thermaltake Armor+ with 3 extra fans.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked to see more new features in a 9 Series Card, but I suppose the 9900 series is going to rectify that.
