The GeForce 8 series offers a complete family of graphic cards ready to meet the unique needs of their users. The series features a unified DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 & Open GL 2.0 architecture to produce stunning 3-dimensional graphics textures. With 10-bit per channel output, the 8 series produces higher fidelity color and separation. In addition, the cards support SLI and NVIDIA's PureVideo HD.
The 8800GT delivers blistering video and graphic performance. Its 754 million transistors can handle anything your games throw at it – and with reduced energy requirements. Accelerated processors offers faster video, and other high-demand graphic effects are rendered in high definition and without lag. Its 112 stream processors are fed by 512MB of 256-bit GDDR3 SDRAM running at 1800MHz to deliver a full 2560 x 1600 resolution.
The 600MHz core clock keeps everything moving and the 400MHz RAMDAC and four dual-linked DVI let you output to multiple and large monitors. Video can also be streamed via HDTV or S-Video outputs for greater flexibility. The 8800GT hits the mark for price while delivering high-end graphic performance.

Don't let this dual-slot cooler fool you
- Pros: Compared to the single-slot cooled 8800GT 512, absolutely none.
- Cons: This dual slot cooler is all cast aluminum. The base is rougher than alligator hide. The single-slot cooler has a copper base and actually cools better than this gimmmick dual-slot. My temps with this cooler max out at 80C, and that's with 100% fan speed. My 'old' single-slot 8800GT 512 never broke 65C when at 100% fan speed, because it has a copper base.
- Other Thoughts: The only reason why I bought this was because I got it for $130 after rebate. I gave my 'old' card to my GF, and I don't have the heart to take it back and give her this. Do yourself a favor and get the single-slot cooled 8800GT 512.
Gotta Watch Those Temps
- Pros: The 8800gt deal I've been waiting for: A ripping great evga 8800gt with dual slot cooling at decent price.
- Cons: The default fan speed of 20% idles this card at 70c, and it hits sky high temps under load (no oc), ~90c, which is very suprising for this card (see other thoughts). BTW my case is decently cooled. This is with using the lastest driver (never bothered with the shipped driver). I dropped one egg for this reason.
- Other Thoughts: Fixed the cooling by bumping the fan up to 55%, now it idles around 50c and hits around 70c under load, even when overclocked to 670 (at which it broke no sweat). Amazing performance compared to my old 7800gt SLI for both increased FPS and image quality. I'm running it an an ancient asus A8N-SLI with a 4200+ X2 oc'ed at 2.64 and it performs just fine driving a 19" TFT. Next stop: new mobo, CPU, and RAM.

meh
- Pros: At the time it was the cheapest EVGA version of the 8800 graphics card. Got 100+ fps on AOC on low settings. Played Mideval 2 for 1 hr before it crapped out. Lifetime warrenty.
- Cons: Had to RMA this baby. Probably just got a bad one and thats why I took an egg off. The dual cooling is kind of a sham... If you look the single slot inventroy price is more than this card even though the cooling is supposed to be better on this one... Well I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this baby costs less because its heat sink is made of cheaper metal. My card idled at 46 with the fan at 80% and two case fans blowing on it. Couldn't really test it with a load since I would get in a game and get BOD and the back of the card would be hot. EVGA never emailed me back even though I emailed them twice trying to figure out if there was something that I could do to fix the problem other than RMAing it.
- Other Thoughts: Absolutely inperative that you ramp up the fan. Default setting will wind up frying your card. If you are on a budget then this card could be good for you but if you are not then I would pass this card up for the single slot or maybe even the SC single slot version. Newegg hooked me up with a RMA refund and I got the SC version for $175 cause it was on sale. Newegg Rocks!
Pleased so far
- Pros: Good price, fast, easy setup. All the equipment and cables you'll need are included. The setup CD drivers worked well and show on Driveragent.com as being the most up to date.
- Cons: Card is a little large but no problem for anyone with a mid or full case. Runs a little warm but no problem if you have good ventilation and crank the fan up a bit.
- Other Thoughts: I've used Riv*tuner to turn the fan up. I usually run it at 70% duty. The card gets in the 60C range for NWN2 and TF2. Turning it up to 100% brings the temp down further but starts to get noisy. So far it's been a solid card. My last three cards were EVGA. I've never had a problem with them.
Good card
- Pros: Does its job, makes AoC run well 30 fps on high with an old Pentium D, 2gigs o ram (vista) computer. quiet
- Cons: pretty big, but i have a midtower, so it doesnt matter too much.
only thing i would say about this particular card is that you cant update the bios. its a #: 512-P3-N800-AR and there is no update for the N800 on nvidia's website.
- Other Thoughts: Ravatuner still works with it despite not being able to update bios. I turned my fan duty % up to 75, runs great.
