1 out of 5 eggsAll fine until fan dies!

Pros: Fast as hell.

Cons: My 1284 version lasted almost 40 days, the fan stopped running and the only fix is to RMA, pay shipping both ways. Fans seem to be a popular failure so get the RMA options figured out before you pay $350 for a card that fails because eVGA didn't want to spend more than $2 on a fan.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid so far

Pros: Quieter than expected, runs on a lower power requirement than what it says in its spec, good quality construction. I upgraded this from my 8800GT. I ran my 8800GT on air cooling, no fan using Arctic Cooling Rev2 heatsink so it was dead silent. I figured I would eventually have to purchase a silent heatsink when one is released in Mar 09, but after installing this, it is surprisingly quiet in my Antec900 case. Lastly, I was expecting to have to upgrade my Corsair 620W to a higher PS, but it runs beautifully without needing to upgrade. Just plugged in my second 6-pin connector and it upgraded like a charm.

Cons: None. One of my power cables accidentally got jammed in the fan, causing it not to turn (yah, it was pretty quiet so it should've been a hint) and kept overheating my card, causing it to shut down at 104C. Removed the jam and problem solved.

Other Thoughts: As always, trusty Newegg got this out quick. What surprised me this time was that I ordered it on FRIDAY night and they managed to get this SHIPPED that same freaking night! However, UPS managed to slow roll this for four days, so it's almost as if Newegg has to work extra hard to make up for UPS's slack.

My 8800GT WoW performance at 1900x1200 was pegged at 60 fps with a drop to 30-40 fps in some raid instances with medium spell effects/low shadows. With this gen card, I was hoping to get 60 fps pegged with everything set to high. I get same performance (60 fps) in non-populated areas but I still see a slight drop in fps (40-50) in populated areas. (Vsync on). What this tells me is that CPU or ISP connection is the bottleneck, not my GPU. Slight dissappointment, but not the GPU's fault.

8400 CPU, 4 Gigs Ram, Antec900.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic, just HOT

Pros: Runs farcry2 maxed out @ 1920x1080, COD4 maxed, rome total war maxed w/ 2x AA, and crysis on a combo of high and ultra high.

Cons: not really a con, just an oddity:
Whenever i would play farcry2 or crysis, the game would crash after 10-20 minutes of game play, citing an nvidia driver failure. after thinking about this, and runnign speedfan, i realized it was getting too hot. the "auto" setting on EVGA's precision tool wouldn't crank the fan up high enough to keep it cool (i even have 2 fans bringing in cold air right on my gpu in a CM 690 case) the fix: turn up the fan to 80%. it keeps it cool just fine, it's just by far the loudest fan in my system.

Other Thoughts: a little dissapointed that the auto function on the fan wasn't stepping up to solve the heat problems, but it's really easy to fix. oh yeah, i have teh ssc edition, and am running it on evga's x58 board, an i7-920, and 6 gigs of ddr3 1600 if that makes a difference for anyone out there.
before turning up the fan on this, the loudest component was my cd drive, oddly enough. goint to do the step up to the 295 in a month or two.

5 out of 5 eggsThis card my Crysis cry a little.

Pros: Well here is my best example. Before I installed this card I was using a EVGA 9800GTX SSC. Which I paid about $390.00 for being an early adopter. So before I shutdown to install the 280 I played crysis warhead and was getting around 10-25 FPS at 1920x1200 with all settings on enthusiast (except shadows) After installing this card first thing I did was went right into crysis. Loaded same map and BAM instant 55-70FPS averaging around 60...

Cons: LOUD!!!!!! This thing out decibels my 9800GTX. Even my Velociraptor hard drives are begging for ear plugs because of this card.
Im not one to complain about system noise levels, with that said this card can be heard if its fans are at 100% from across my house.

Other Thoughts: BE AWARE. This card is not like previous generations that used the 6 pin PCI-E power.
This beast now uses 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin power to the card. The adapter did ship in the box but still this thing will suck some juice.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: Noticeable improvement over my previous card (evga 8800GTX ACS). Can play Crysis Warhead next to highest settings (Gamer). My gaming system is not as powerful as some of the newer systems out today; and it still plays Crysis without a problem (the video card obviously makes a big difference). Runs about 76° c.
Intel 960 CPU overclocked to 3.9GHz, 4GB Ram, Raptor Hard Drive and XP Pro 32bit.

Cons: Will probably be outdated within a year.

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with my purchase... excellent card!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Really fast card, especially since I came from a system with AGP. I have a Core 2 Quad Q9550 and an asus striker II NES board. It plays Crysis, Fear, and Bioshock nicely at 1680 x 1050. With only 1 card in the system.

Cons: I did not get the water block preinstalled since it was more expensive, wish I had now. The card regularly runs over 75C with stock cooling and the fans set on high. they are like a leaf blower.

Other Thoughts: I ended up getting a Koolance water block to mount on the card. Works like a Champ. The card Idles at 35C and in game around 55C, not bad. The card is over clocked with a Core frequency of 705MHz and 1235MHz on the Memory. Nice and quiet now.

Now my Koolance system runs hot since it is over 5 years old, yup I got the PC3 when it was the big boy on the block. Which should be some kind of testament to Koolance, but I do regular maintenance on the system.

My advice is go for the water cooling especially if you get 2 of them. If you don't have water cooling isn't it about time since Dell has a water cooled system?

5 out of 5 eggsWell Worth The Money

Pros: This card is so powerful it was able to replace my two XFX GeForce 8800 GTX. I went from 25 - 30 FPS average for Crysis/Crysis Warhead on just high, with this new card I can run Crysis on Very High at 40 FPS average and Crysis Warhead on Enthusiast at about 45 FPS. I dont use AA or Vsync. I run both of these games at 1680x1050. Naturally all other games don't make this card raise the fan above medium. My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 stock at 2.4 Ghz. RAM is OCZ Heat Pipe with 4 Gigs of RAM DDR2 PC 8500 running at 1066 Mhz.

Cons: None. Just make sure that you have enough PSU power to get this thing to run smooth and that you have enough air flow to keep it cool.

Other Thoughts: Together my 8800 GTX cards ran me about 1200, for about 580 after tax and shipping this card has produced better performance and less heat. You really can't beat this card. EVGA also offers the 90 step up program so if something else better comes out within 90 days of purchase, you can arrange to trade in your current card for a new one and just pay for the difference and shipping. For those that are like me and want to know what my system is I am running a EVGA 780i, OCZ Heat Pipe PC8500 DDR2 2x2Gig, Intel Core 2 Quad 6600, 2 Seagate 500 gig 72000 RPM in RAID 0, Creative Sound Blaster Elite Pro, and generic optical drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Bought two of these and have them water cooled and connected in sli. The install went easy and without any problems even the sli configuration was very easy with the Evga included control pannel. Haven't overclocked yet but the one game I did play so far (call of duty 4) looks fantastic with sli enabled.

Cons: Had one bad card but Newegg took it back for a refund, they were out of stock at the time, and I just a few days ago was able to get another.

Other Thoughts: My Samsung 26" looks great with these two cards installed.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST & Newegg ROCKS!!

Pros: Faster than my 8800GTX SLI. I play most games at 2560x1600 4xAA and 16xAS, except Crysis, no AA there. I keep 30fps min, usually 50-60 in all cases. Also, all my previous nVidia Crash Problems with Vista 64bit Ultimate are gone.

Cons: None, it is at the right price now, even for those of us who bought early, eVGA is paying us back!

Other Thoughts: Was pricey at first; however, I recently recieved an e-Mial from Newegg telling me about the refund from eVGA since the price drop. I got $125 back. Now of course, the Price is Right. Thank you Newegg for telling me about the refund. Outstanding Customer Service, I never would have known.

5 out of 5 eggsAn excellent buy

Pros: Excellent card. As fast as my old 9800 GTX KO SLI setup, with only one card! Overclocks very, very well. Runs cool and quietly. Worth the cost, easily. Planning on adding a second as soon as more come in stock.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have enough room, power, and cooling to run these.
