GTX 260
- Pros: The card is faster then my Older 8800 GTS(G92)[To a point]. Does not run hot at all. A good deal
It's EVGA
- Cons: The sheer size of the card is huge it is a good 3 inches longer then my 8800 was. It is so long it is in my HD rack.
It is only a tad bit faster then my 8800 was and in some games it is slower. It takes 2 power connections. Cheaper then what my 8800 was.
- Other Thoughts: I believe my system is bottle necking my card so I will give this card its good credit. I am running a AMD 5000 X2 black and a K9N4 mobo with 4 gbs of ram so yea lol.
My 8800 died so I wanted something with the performance was closely matched. If you want a nice card grab this b4 it is deactivated again. BTW any idea why it keep doing that?
good and bad
- Pros: the best 260 out there fer sher! heat blows right out of the back of the case instead of in, 55nm tech-which means low temps and easy overclockable, very good frame rates on high specs in any game. and thats what were looking for boys and girls, right?
- Cons: only one con and that is the auto fan control. if i leave at auto and i game then it crashes my system, like others have talked about in the reviews of the single card exactly like this one but without the free game, so diff listing alltogether. i noticed that that it is now a deactivated item now which means they probably are having alot of isues with these. if i open nvidia's control panel and set the fan control to 100% then it does not crash when gaming, which only means one thing, that the auto fan control is not working right. on the ati tool it crashes at 83c when on auto fan. so i dont know whats up cause i think it should be able to go higher than that?but if you google gtx 260 ssc crash then there are quite a few people with the exact same prob.
- Other Thoughts: would love to have one that doesnt crash on auto fan control. now i have to debate weather to go without a card for two weeks and rma it and spend freakin shipping money to evga and valued time or try to remember to set the fan to 100% before gaming cause it doesnt crash when not gaming. and you would think evga would pay for the shipping both ways since i just got the thing but nope, have to pay extra for that as soon as you register it as a gamble. not very good customer service if you ask me,for a multi million dollar company to go cheapo on there high paying customers is messed up. i can see if i had it for a while but i just got the dam thing!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVGA
- Pros: Bought another version of EVGA 260 gtx, but went for RMA for it. With my refund, bought this one. So far so good
- Cons: Size : Width, Height, and Legth.
Length : Make sure you have enough length, and you don't mess with your hard drive bay.
Height : You may end up sacrificing a PCI slot.
This card looks like a British double decker.
- Other Thoughts: VERY IMPRESSED WITH ITS PERFORMANCE !!!
