4 out of 5 eggsFantastic for the most part

Pros: The card itself is delightfully powerful, capable of running WoW and Left 4 Dead at maximum settings without any noticable stuttering. Having a card that's CUDA-capable is pretty nice for multi-processor programming practice (not to mention Folding@Home).

Cons: The heat is tolerable if you have decent air flow in your tower (I had to buy a couple additional fans as I didn't wish to risk losing parts to it, though). However, whenever the card is put under any variety of stress, such as running a game or CUDA-capable program, it emits a very persistent screech which is noticable even during desktop-level music. This does appear to be a common problem for many people buying the 285, and it significantly detracts from my enjoyment of it.

Other Thoughts: If you don't mind the sound and will put it to good use, this card is definetely worth the money. If you won't use CUDA, probably would be better off going with something a bit smaller.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: When it works right, it works great.

Cons: Right now I play a lot of WoW and this thing... should blow everything out of the water, right? While flying around on a FP or on a mount the FPS drops to, sometimes, 1. It gets choppy and crashes the game.

Other Thoughts: i7 920, 6GB OCZ XMP RAM, GTX 285, etc.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Can you please remove all NVIDIA drivers, then reinstall the 185.85 drivers from the EVGA website?

Also please remember that WoW is primarly CPU bound, so it could indicate another issue within the system.

Thanks,
Jacob

5 out of 5 eggsCALL THE VET!! THESE PUPPIES ARE SICK!

Pros: It's EVGA. It's serious fast. It's able to SLI and with the EVGA X58 mobo you can x3 SLI. I haven't ran into anything that slows my single card down. I need another customer to do a build for so I can "slide" another one of these in (unknown to them) on there parts list. I want to SLI so bad I can taste it. But realisticly, why? this dang thing has nothing to slow it down at the moment. Maybe Cryostasis, but I don't have that game, so I couldn't really tell ya. It's WAY overkill if you are a light gamer (which I aint! :P)

Cons: pfft . . cons? If all you can gripe about is the size, then you have no con. The size is common knowledge. Especially if you do any research at all.
Power requirements may be an issue. Be sure you "HAVE THE POWAH!"

5 out of 5 eggsHuge

Pros: Plays any game I throw at it with no problems, replaced two 9800GT's in SLI mode with this one and I am glad I did it.

5 out of 5 eggsOut of this world.

Pros: Wow... this card have me speechless as if I just seen a hot chick walk by..

It plays all games like a dream! I installed the CoD world at war that came with the card and it is amazing... makes you feel like your actually "IN" the action.

I also play World of warcraft and with this baby.. I'm playing it at "Ultra" settings.. everything is maxed out and sit at an average 60FPS.

Imagine 2 of these toys running... lol.

Cons: Cons... what cons???

Other Thoughts: I took it up a notch "more like big upgrade" from an HP Pavilion desktop I had since 2004 along with a Geforce FX 5500 "roflmao"

To my very new build with this card... what an upgrade.

4 out of 5 eggsAbout a month in...

Pros: Runs everything I want, and runs it well. Stays fairly cool with a fan putting air on it. No overheating.

Cons: For some reason, and I'm pretty sure this is the only game it does it on. When WoW loads and I have just THAT screen loaded... even tested alt tabbing in and out, well, the fan buzzes on the GPU. It's rather annoying because you can hear it over the speakers and the other fans that are turned on high in my Antec 1200.

Other Thoughts: I'd give this 5 eggs, but the noise is just overbearing.
