4 out of 5 eggsCheap no-frills Vid-Card

Pros: We used it on our office server. The server's built in video gave up. Never played video games on it, so wouldn't know anything performance-wise. It seems to be doing well with regular office applications. No compatibility problems, considering we're running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Cons: If you're looking to play games on this, you might want to reconsider.

3 out of 5 eggsEh...

Pros: Passive cooling, works on newer AND older systems, has 3 outputs but only 2 headers, works well on emulators.

Cons: Doesn't play games like minecraft, heats up alot, again only 2 headers.

Other Thoughts: Really wish I could've choosen better for my needs. I've heard it plays Half Life 2 OK and Diablo 2 fine, but I have yet to see.

5 out of 5 eggsAll you could ever ask for.

Pros: Picked this little thing up for an old socket 478 dell system (A Dimension 2400). Anyone who is familuar with the Dimension 2400 will more then likely know how the Dimension 2400, only has 8MB of video memory... Which is unfortunatly not really even enough to fullscreen a youtube video... Heck, it didnt even have the ability to display full 1080p before i installed this thing. The only reason I even still have the system is for some legacy gaming and school work. For gaming it works fine for what i do with it. Counterstrike 1.6 runs like a dream, Halo CE dose as well. Sim City 3000, and Rollercoaster Tyroon work fine too. Youtube works fine on this as well, will play back 1080p.. for the most part. it gets a tad jittery at times but i mean you cant exspect much from a system with 1GB of ram, a socket 478 P4 @ 3.06GHz and this thing in it.

Over all im extremely satisfied.

Cons: None realy... Ill update right away if something bad comes up... I guess you can say that the drivers on the driver disc dont work well on windows XP, but really i dont know many people who will use the driver disc.

1 out of 5 eggsWish I went with another card

Pros: It's an independent video card

Cons: Video loses synch with audio no matter which OS I run with it. I ran it in three computers, one with Linux Mint 13 Maya, another with doze 2k and the last with doze XP. None of them give me a performance boost over their integrated video chips. If i want to watch a DVD or video file, I need to use one of the systems running the integrated video and not this. Otherwise there's anywhere from a one to fifteen second video lag. It's grabage, pure and simple.

Other Thoughts: Will never go with NVIDIA ANYTHING ever again

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with W7 64 bit

Pros: These do work with Windows 7 64 bit. The CD that's included doesn't include these drivers, you'll need to go to EVGA's website and download the "GeForce 6 Series Family" drivers.

PS. I didn't purchase this PCI card personally, my company purchased this to upgrade some legacy boxes (upon my recommendation) for Windows 7.

Cons: None, if you purchase this for Windows 7, you should be aware that there might be some work outside of the box.

4 out of 5 eggsUsing for Dual Monitors

Pros: Inexpensive and helped to squeeze a little more life out of an older PC.
The PC only has PCI ports but with a new application for a small business we need to start using two monitors. The PC had a video card on the motherboard and usually you cannot configure a motherboard to run video AND a card to run video so the video card had to be able to run two monitors on its own which it is doing just fine. Obviously you have to have a monitor with the DVI connection and one with VGA.

This card isn’t being used on a machine that is gaming so can’t speak to that but running multiple business apps. It even helped speed up the machine a little by offloading the video from the motherboard so it was a win/win.
So much so that I just ordered 2 more of the exact same card to update 2 other machines that only have PCI ports as well.

Cons: None for what we're using the cards for.

Other Thoughts: Love Newegg.. done business with them for many years and always got exactly what was discribed and needed.. THX

1 out of 5 eggsLong pause delay lockup in Windows 7 x64

Pros: Cheap (bought refurbished model), works great for non-graphic O/S like unRAID.

Cons: The card was unusable in beefy AMD FX 6100 based Windows 7 x64 w/16GB ram. I tried the latest NVIDIA driver and also the driver from Windows update and the system would go into a very long pause/lockup for 1-15 minutes using IE 8 and 9. As another user stated, the screen would go black for extended periods of time.

Other Thoughts: I have an ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 MB w/ AMD FX 6100 CPU mainly used for unRAID (Linux) but also used for Windows 7 x64. I wanted a cheap PCI or PCI Express x1 card as unRAID is not gui and I only have the PCI and PCI express x1 slots available. I guess next I'll try HIS H545H1GD1 Radeon HD 5450 Silence 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express x1 video card.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Pauses and lockups are not the expected behavior of this card. Please contact us at 888-881-3842 so we can work with you on this issue.

Thank you,
Brandon B

4 out of 5 eggsGood for Windows XP

Pros: This is a good upgrade if you only have a PCI slot. Works with Windows 7 Drivers, but some stuttering with Windows 7 do to the slow speed of the PCI slot. PCI Expressx1 is a better option for Windows 7.

Cons: The PCI slot is too slow for some Windows 7 applications.

Other Thoughts: If your only option is a PCI card, this is a good card. Works with Windows 7, but the PCI slot speed is too slow for some graphic applications.
