3 out of 5 eggsTouchy

Pros: - it allows you to put a graphci card in a motherboard without a AGP or PCI-E slot

Cons: - Blue screened/failed POST in 1st 3 computers I tried to put it in. Worked in 4th, and there it stayed until I sold the PC it was in.

Other Thoughts: Be careful with PCI graphic cards, as they don't work with every chipset. The PC that i put mine in was old (Dell Dimension 3100)

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

It sounds like the onboard graphics are not disabled, Please make sure to disable these function in the bios. You can also contact us directly at 888-881-3842 for any assistance.

Thank you,
Brandon B

4 out of 5 eggsDid not work with Windows 98SE

Pros: Nice card at a great price.
512Mb memory, DVI output.
It works with Windows XP just fine.
I removed one 'egg' because of the Windows 98 problem.

Cons: Even though Nvidia has drivers for the 6200 and Windows 98.
I was not able to get this card to work with Windows 98SE.
After installing the driver and rebooting the computer.
I get - Windows protection error - restart your computer.
Tried many different versions of the drivers and BIOS settings.
Gave up and got a 128Mb 5200 series card.
And it works just fine

Other Thoughts: Due to the old software I need to use I have to use Windows 98 and DOS mode.
I use 98SE because of the ease of going to and from DOS mode.
The other option would be dual boot with XP and DOS 6.
But I did not want to create a custom batch file to choose which DOS app to run.
Along with the pure DOS driver install hassles for GPIB and APIB I/O cards.

1 out of 5 eggsHaving trouble with this card

Pros: None at this time

Cons: Since installing the card I have been getting blue screens in Windows 7 that indicate a page fault error. Have installed the latest driver to no avail. I was not sure if the video card was causing the problem but finally removed it, went back to the on board video and have had no further blue screens. Don't quite understand the problem. It seemed like the video was a little slow and jerky with this card. Maybe it is not compatible with this older Intel server board?

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA 512mb 64 bit video

Pros: Well priced card. I needed this 64 bit card for use in an older machine, as newer cards will not run in older PCs. Nvidia is a great chipset, and EVGA always does a good job

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsIt was an upgrade for me.

Pros: Let's just say this, on Windows 7 they have a rating system from 1.0 to 7.9 to grade your system with 5 categories and this card brought my Graphics rating up from 1.0 to 2.5 and the Gaming Graphics up from 1.0 to 3.0. I was also able to play the games that came with Windows 7 for the first time with this card. If you are getting Windows 7 and want to have a screen saver (couldn't have one before this card), play games and see all the little graphics tricks Windows 7 incorporates into the system and only have basic PCI slots this will do the trick for you.

Cons: Not many because I wasn't expecting to do much with it besides light up Windows 7. Not sure what it will do with good games but my system is from 2005 so I wouldn't be able to play them anyways.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Supported by EVGA and nVidia for Windows 7
512MB memory
PCI slot

Cons: only 64 MB memory bandwidth

Other Thoughts: I bought this to try and improve the WEI (Windows Experience Index) on an older machine. The WEI actually went DOWN after installation. The reason? The card I replaced (also bought from NewEgg) was a PNY 256MB FX5200 (not supported by Win7) had 128 bit memory support, and this one only sports 64 bit (effectively half!).
Under the Half Life 2 Lost Coast video stress test, my score were noticeably slower (25 fps vs. 20 fps) but the settings were now all on high instead of low and medium as with the FX5200. Windows 7 Aero features are all still supported though, and the 3D is a little better (fewer jaggies). Still, a lower WEI and slower stress test results are not what I expected from an "upgrade" video card.

Installation was simple, and the newer nVidea control panel and EVGA's OC Scanner and Precision X are pretty impressive.

It is still light years ahead of the miserable Intel Extreme (really, can you call that marginal GPU extreme?) graphics.
