5 out of 5 eggsGTX 285 SC 2GB

Pros: Installed the latest nVidia driver and it runs perfectly. 2GB is nice, future proof. Any game can be maxed. For example, maxing the graphics on GTAIV shows 1.6GB of VRAM usage. Crysis running 64bit with Enthusiast Settings, shows just over 1GB of VRAM usage. This card is very quiet.

Cons: The card is huge. I thought for sure I would have no problems installing. Wrong. It is the exact same length as my ATX MB is wide. Part of the drive bay (full size case) hovers over the MB by a centimeter, which would not allow me to slide the card directly into the PCI slot. I had to go in at an angle and wedge the card between the back of the case and the drive bay. No room for error. Finally with enough force I was able to squeeze it in. I also had to remove a small plastic cover from the back of the case. Forget about SLI, I really doubt there is a way for me to get another card in there.

Other Thoughts: I bought it to replace two 8800GT's in SLI. And immediately I could tell performance improvements. WoW in Ultra mode runs smooth everywhere, even in Dalaran. Current Machine Specs: [Q9450, 790i Ultra, 4GB DDR3, GTX 285 SC 2GB, Vista 64bit Ult.]

5 out of 5 eggs3-way Sli--Screaming Fast

Pros: The cards are very fast, finish in the top 3 in COD WAW most of the time. 6 gigs of video ram helps, can play any game at high settings!

Cons: Not very Overclock able!!! I have the 675 super clocked versions and can only overclock them to 678--wt f

Other Thoughts: Overall they get the job done....no complaints

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Graphics Card

Pros: Amazing speed, awesome memory, GREAT for SLI

Cons: none that I can tell

Other Thoughts: This is an amazing card. If you want a good graphics card you have to cough up for it, dont complain its too expensive if you're not willing to buy it. That's a lame reason to call it a bad card. Im running on a 30" screen at 2560x1600 any game max settings runs amazing, that's SLI'd though. Recommended for anyone seriously wanting a great gaming vid card.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: I think if the card was running correctly it would far surpass all my expectations. That being said......

Cons: I have had this card a month, after upgrading from a 9800 G*T*X* S*C* and seeing no noticeable performance gains I was pretty bummed about it and it showed in my first review. The reason I am writing a second review is because the card wont run any games now, the display driver crashes just after start up on any game, DIRT, GRID, TF2, WOW, haven't seen it crash on CS 1.6 yet thanks! So im RMA'ing it to EVGA along with my 780i SLI F*T*W* board i got a couple months ago , the net adapter just stopped working. go figure you guys get all the good parts and i get all the RMA's.

Other Thoughts: Wish me luck, last time I RMA'ed a card it came back DOA 2 times before i got a good one and by that time I had already bought something better so I never got any use out of a $350 card that time.

5 out of 5 eggsPure Eye-gasm

Pros: Solid performance and cooler temps than the old 260/216 cards. These cards saturate the bus on my evga 780i board. I could probably get a 40% increase if i have 790i or x58 chipset.

Cons: Same physical size as 260 cards but significantly heavier. I used heavier pci screws to secure them and i transport my pc every weekend to lans. Could have come with a better game COD:WAW is a terrible game...

Other Thoughts: Absolutely awesome card. I see no reason not to give this all 5 eggs... Its better than a 295 by a long shot.

1 out of 5 eggsEVGA No Bueno :(

Pros: beauty card

Cons: comes from EVGA, bad customer service the worst ever,if u get a good card good for you but if not ....prepare to deal with the worst ppl around.Switching to new Brand,Newegg should have zero eggs rating but still too much fot this, i ll give the egg to the GTX 285 but minus 5 to EVGA.

Other Thoughts: buy it if u r unlucky you will believe me

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA Delivers Once Again

Pros: Works flawlessly right out of the box matched with my EVGA x58 motherboard. I can run whatever I want on absolute max setting with no noticeable slowdown whatsoever. Gets 100+ FPS on TF2 and L4D without breaking a sweat. Fallout 3 on all-ultra-everything? Yawn. I can't wait for the next generation of games, because I know this mother will chew them up and spit them out too.

Cons: None whatsoever, really. Maybe a better bundled game? I'm so happy thats what I have to complain about.

Other Thoughts: If this card fits your budget, don't hesitate to pull the trigger. EVGA is the best in the business at the moment, bar-none.

Thanks Newegg for giving me another great build experience.

2 out of 5 eggsNot stable at SC pre-set speed

Pros: As of this posting, it's the fastest video card after the GTX 295, but that one is an SLI-in-one-card possibly with micro-stuttering issues. So, for now, this is the fastest card out there that's a worthwhile purchase. It also has the most video memory at 2GB (a fairly new offering that maxes NVIDIA's GTX 285 specs). Also, the stock cooler is adequate, and doesn't exhaust too much hot air into your case compared to the 98xx and 88xx stock coolers. Still, paying extra for this card vs. its regular version by the same manufacturer isn't really justified. The GTX 285 is a solid NVIDIA design, but "superclocked" and overclocked models are probably not worth it. No big deal, though, as it was just a little money wasted for the superclocked version... not much compared to the overall cost of the card. This is really why I gave it 2 eggs. I'd give 4 or 5 eggs to the NVIDIA GTX 285 design itself. I elaborated on this in the Cons section below.

Cons: The pre-set "superclocked" speed of 675 for the core produces artifacts and eventually CRASHES (yes, driver crashes reported by event viewer) in ATITool (yes, it work for NVIDIA cards) and 3DMark 05. It was so bad it even hosed the textures to load in my current MMO (LotRO) when I unlocked the maximum FPS, as it was fine when locked to monitor refresh rate. After testing, I discovered that the artifacting and crashes occurred when the GPU core was overclocked to 667MHz or higher. The stock speed is 648 for the regular version of this card, which this superclocked version's pre-set "stock" speed is 675. Even at 655, it's notice an occasional hiccup, so I dialed mine back to 650 and it seems very stable. The memory overclock here doesn't seem to cause artifacts and can easily go 1200MHz (2400) and above, though stock is 1161 (2322) and the "superclocked" speed is 1188 (2376). You could probably double the core speed at 1300+, but I don't want to risk a hang and lose typing my review. :-)

Other Thoughts: My test system from 2007 for this card: EVGA 680i A1 mobo (PCI-Express 1.0, not 2.0), Core 2 Duo E6850 overclocked to 3.6GHz stable (3.4GHz now to avoid slight voltage change), and 4GB DDR2-800 OCZ memory 4-4-4-12, WinXP Pro SP-3, and latest NVIDIA drivers (185.85 version). I run games at 3840x1024 with three 1280x1024 monitors on a Matrox TripleHead 2Go device. This really pushes the total pixels highs to make any video card sweat. This was an upgrade from two 8800 GTX cards in SLI which barely handled it; yet I dislike the SLI micro stuttering (Google it if you don't believe me). One or two GTX 285 cards will not even peak the PCI-Express 1.0 bandwidth, but three might, and two GTX 295 cards definitely will. You don't need PCI-Express 2.0 anything unless you're running triple-SLI or higher for any 28x card or earlier. I am upgrading my video now before I hop over to Core i7, and am just unimpressed with the SC version. It really doesn't like even a mild overclock.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as much of a increase as i hoped for.

Pros: First off....I want to say this card looks like a hot rod....problem with hot rods? They don't live long on the street. Anyways, It works, it looks cool, um.... cant really think of anything else. OH!!! as usual teh egg got my parts to me in 2 DAYS!!!! go egg!

Cons: well, I upgraded from a 9800 GTX+ to this GTX 285 SC which cost me almost $500 after tax and shipping.... NO INCREASE IN FPS?!?!??! WT? Everything still runs the same..... I start getting bad fps in a game i play, so i upgrade and its still the same. Installed all new drivers, clean HDD's, new bios, everything up to date. so sad. and they don't have voltage tuner for this card yet, also i have the fan turned up to 100% air coming out back of card burns my hand its so hot. Nvidia system monitor no longer works cause this GPU doesn't have OPENGL functionality?!??!? error i get when i try to start system monitor. This really bummed me out. I have been buying Nvidia cards for years, and I always buy EVGA, but due to rising prices with no real performance increases I don't know what to do now.

Other Thoughts: SYSTEM: EVGA 780i SLI F*T*W* edition
12GB corsair DDR2 1066
2x 150GB WD velociraptors
intel Q6600
EVGA GTX 285 SC
TT 850 watt PSU
