4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Value; if you are building a new system this is the card to use. Hardware and software was easy to install. This card has a backplate which you don't see on the GTX 285 card. The fan is very quiet and the heat is vented outward. The clock speed was 621Mhz out of the box, I did not have any problems with that speed.

Cons: Intermittent buzzing noise during moderate to heavy loads, otherwise I would have rated 5 stars.

Other Thoughts: Before upgrading check the room in your case and your psu.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Absolutely amazing card. Quite the upgrade from my stock ATI card. Includes Call Of Duty: WOW and that game looks freaking incredible, better than anything does on my PS3. Combine this card with an i7 and 12GB of RAM and you have an absolutely killer system capable of playing anything and doing anything. The folks at EVGA were surprisingly helpful in helping me solve my problem getting the thing setup but I managed to solve the problem myself (see below).

Cons: A couple but not enough to give it lower than five stars. Installation was a nightmare. Mainly due to the fact that I'm new to this type of video card so I didn't really know what to expect. Card originally arrived with a bent mounting bracket making installation difficult. I originally thought the card was defective because it wouldn't give me a picture after at least three attempts of checking all the settings and inserting. Finally after a call to EVGA technical support I figured out that the reason my card wasn't giving a picture was because the 4-pin connector on my motherboard was disconnected. No biggie. It's big and hot but that's expected.

Other Thoughts: The bent mounting bracket was a big surprise - and you'd think that someone who works in quality control for either Newegg or EVGA would've caught that. But it didn't result in a defective card so I will not hold them against it. Cant wait to put this thing through its paces.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I got this card for my new I7 920 setup. It runs great and can plays just about any game on high.

I love EVGA products!

Cons: This card is End Of Life and will not be available much longer. I bought another one today to SLI

Other Thoughts: As everyone says it is big.

5 out of 5 eggsJust wow

Pros: Insanely fast!

I bought it because the price seemed reasonable enough to throw it in my i7 build and wow. EVERYTHING I've played is totally smooth. I might get another to do sli...

Cons: I've heard that they're discontinuing this card. If true, I'll have to get my 2nd one very soon. bummer.

Other Thoughts: i7 920 @3.2ghz
evga x58 sli
12gb ocz 1600mhz
300gb raptor
gtx 280

5 out of 5 eggsInsane

Pros: This card is incredible, and runs very well. Crysis Warhead on the highest settings, 1920 x 1080 and 2x AA (sometimes 4x AA, depending on how much action is going on) and I still get a solid 35 - 45fps. Plus, the difference between 2x and 4x AA isn't really noticeable to me.

Works like a champ.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Freaking huge. I had never owned a card this big, much less seen one. I saw the reviews, but even after measuring with a measuring tape, the size still seems like a good foot long.

Easily twice the size of my GeForce 8800 GT, in all directions...

And the fan isn't loud at all on 80%, as long as you have a case that isn't constructed of paper. Not sure what everyone whines about.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: there are no words to descibe the amazing graphics that this car puts out. this is a heavyweight!
worth every penny and then some

Cons: this thing is huge. it barely fit within the case, oh yeah, did i mention this thing is huge?
didn't come with enough power cables to make it work, had to order an extra molex to pci-e to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: wish it wouldve come with all its cables, but however im not compaining with its performance one bit

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the Money

Pros: Same amount of stream processors and memory bandwidth as the GTX 285, but at about 2/3 the price. This card has plenty of texture RAM, good cooling, and runs relatively quietly. It runs current-gen games more than capably, and completely dominates last-gen games. The GTX 280 is a fantastic value right now for anybody who prefers NVidia but doesn't want to spend ~$400 on a top-end card.

Cons: Higher NM process (and therefore coarser die size) than the GTX 275, 285 or 295 means it will run a little warmer, and therefore need to be clocked a little lower. However, note that it still trumps the 275 in terms of performance. Also, note that this card, like its siblings, is huge. You'll need about 11" of clearance to house this card in your chassis. Also, this card is being phased out, so if you plan on buying one now and another later for SLI, you might want to reconsider and look at the 275 or 285 instead.

Other Thoughts: I was able to comfortably overclock this card to 670 x 2500 without extra cooling or voltage. Not major, but technically that's higher than the GTX 285 is clocked, and much higher than the 295. If you pick up a pair of these, you'll have a card that can go neck and neck with just about anything out there right now. And of course, NVidia's Linux support is worlds better than ATI's current driver offerings. Anybody who says different is either a) not using Linux full-time, b) selling you something, or c) both of the above.

5 out of 5 eggsRockin' Card for the Price

Pros: Runs Crysis at full spec, 1680 x 1050 at greater than 30fps.

Doom 3 and Half Life 2: Ep 2 both run at 1680 x 1050 with 16x FSAA and Vsync on. Extremely beautiful.

Drivers are fun to tinker with.

Cons: Crysis at 2x or 4x FSAA gets a little choppy, but still very playable.

nVidia Control Panel doesn't seem to affect Steam games purchased through the client. Meh.

Other Thoughts: An all around great card that will handle SC2 and Diablo III when they're released =p

5 out of 5 eggsA Monster, Literally.

Pros: -Runs almost any modern game on maximum graphics
-Comes with GPU tuning software that allows you to tune and monitor your GTX's performance

Cons: -Huge Card
-Runs hot

Other Thoughts: Note:
-Anyone using a Cooler Master HAF case will have to use screws to install card, the plastic tabs lock in due to the cards design.
-Usually runs around 60 degrees idle, most new games will push it to about 80 degrees

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Very nice card. Quiet fan on default settings. Runs very smooth. My frame rates in very game (LoTRO, WOW, Warhammer) are all up significantly. I run with everything maxed on settings and this card doesn't miss a beat.

Cons: HUGE. When we say this thing is large we mean it. Its bigger than my motherboard is deep in my ATX case. I wouldn't want to even think about installing one in a smaller case. Also ensure you have space where you are drivers are typically mounted at the back end of the card inside your machine. Thankfully the power connectors are on top edge of the card.

Other Thoughts: Now that the price of the 280 has reached a reasonable level I highly recommend this card. Great performance for the dollar. I run it on a Quad core 2.5mhz, 8Gig Ram, Killer Network card. Loving every minute.
