Buyer Beware of EVGA warranty
- Pros: Worked for 2 years- one star for every year it worked.
- Cons: My EVGA 8800 worked for 2 years, then failed with no video output at all.
I thought, ok, per my manual and in the detailed specs I'm covered: Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (parts): Lifetime Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (labor): Lifetime = now read the FINE PRINT on EVGA's website = it says you have to register it within 30 days of purchase. It doesn't say that here or in the user manual. They are not going to replace my failed card because of this fine print. They failed to mention it anywhere I would have read it within 30 days of purchase. **I will NEVER buy an EVGA product ever again**
- Other Thoughts: I love newegg! Best company on the web, hands down. I'll always look on newegg first for any and all pc products.
- Pros: Good card for the money at the time. I bought it over a year ago and it worked well for that time.
- Cons: Runs very hot as others have said. With fan set at 100% and the side of the case off and a house fan less than a foot away it still runs at over 60C in-game. There have been many driver issues that have required me to rollback and now the card fails whenever it goes over 60C in-game and freezes my whole PC.
- Other Thoughts: From what I've seen and what friends that are more tech savvy than I have told me, there are better cards for the money.
great card but runs hot!
- Pros: Single slot card obviously, that would probably be the only reason you are looking at buying this card!
Same G92 core found in the 9800gtx and gts250, simply underclocked.
- Cons: Runs hot, 58c idle and mid 80's while gaming with the fan at 75%. Any more than 75% and the fan is very loud. Apparently these temps are OK for video cards, so it only gets 1 egg deducted.
With the fan at 100%, idle is still 58c and max temps reach mid to upper 70's.
- Other Thoughts: If you need a single slot card, this is probably the most powerful card you can get. If you don't have restrictions on size, I'd move along and get a different card.
I also have an EVGA gts250_512mb. This card barely scores less than it. With the gts250 at 825 core clock and 1350 memory (great overclocker, stock is 756/1100) I score 17,800 on 3dmark06. With this card running at 700/1000 (stock is 600/900) I score a little over 15k. Not bad, expecially for being 1/2 the size.
