4 out of 5 eggsGood deal - with rebate

Pros: Certainly lots of bang for the buck, and the best deal I could find in the price range. Cheap, even more so with the rebate. It does most of what I ask of it. I did not have the "Dead On Arrival" issue that others have had.

Cons: I've had issues with display colors glitching, completely changing the colors displayed, the first time after under 5 hours use. I had to restart the program to fix the glitch. I haven't had it happen more than three times in two months. It's annoying, but so far easily fixable. The rebate takes a while, be patient.

Other Thoughts: I got this card to replace an 8600. I had been running an 8400 as a stopgap, and the 240 is a great improvement over the 8400. The 240 is definitely not a top line card, but for the price, I wouldn't expect it. I doubt I would've payed full price for it, though, given the display glitches.

Newegg was very good about the return of a second card I accidentally ordered due to unfamiliarity with their system. I'm quite happy with my single experience with Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome for XBMC

Pros: Supports VDPAU automatically in XBMC.
Audio Output through HDMI works without jumping SPDIF to the card
Does not take more than one slot.

Cons: Seems to run hot as my XBMC machine is noisier since install. It's quiet at boot, but after a while, it gets hot...

The rebate process seems to take ages. That's the egg I removed.

Pros: Great price with rebate. Rebate arrived in a decent amount of time. Plays StarCraft II @ 1600x900 no problems.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: None.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great value, good match with Athlon II x4 630 for a budget, all-purpose machine. Love the low power, no need for ultra-mega power supply or additional cooling for the case. Cool, quiet, cheap.

Cons: After 3 months, started getting BSOD's. Ended up adjusting BIOS to fix problem (don't know how my BIOS got goofed up in the first place). EVGA was no help and was a bit snooty when I called.

Other Thoughts: Calls for 300W PS with 18 amps on +12V rail. Gets all of its power from MOBO. Many preconfigured stock power supplies will keep this card humming, so it can be added to an entry-level computer as a nice upgrade to integrated graphics on the cheap.

3 out of 5 eggsWoulda gave this 5 stars, but....

Pros: It's a great card. Can play Crysis on max. Great for the price.

Cons: DVI port and HDMi port wouldn't work. Got a black screen on both. Had to send it back and get a new one. New one worked fine.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes a little more than I thought it would

Pros: Quiet
Doesn't require extra power connectors.
HDMI connector

Cons: Had I known before ordering, I may have gone with 1gb instead of 512mb to be CUDA compatible with Adobe Premiere

Other Thoughts: Bought this card to offload video playback and encoding from my older CPU. I was having trouble playing back a lot of HD content. This card made it slick as a whistle. Also, using Xilisoft Video Converter (CUDA enabled), I can now transcode video using h264 in the same amount of time it used to take an MPEG-4 encode.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy setup, runs dual monitors at 1920 x 1200 each, sound works through HDMI. Have not heard fan, seems quiet. Using on Dell Inspiron 580 with original 300 watt power supply.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not using with newer games, works well for Quake III Arena at highest settings. Tested dual monitors originally on D-SUB and HDMI, now using DVI and HDMI, all worked perfectly.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent the Second Time Around

Pros: A lot of bang for the buck! I saw this on sale combined with a rebate so picked it up for a sweet price...but I definitely ended up earning it (see below).

Cons: Had to RMA first one due to flickering pixels during any type of video or game play. Tested it on two different operating systems and motherboards - problem persisted, so I sent it back. It was a huge pain having to test it on my other machine because I have SLI set up and tons of other stuff going on in there that had to be removed or moved in order to test this card in a different environment. It cost me four total hours of troubleshooting time, but the second one they sent me has worked as it should, immediately, and performs much better than the previous graphics support (see below).

Other Thoughts: I bought this card for my 6 year old to play his lego batman game. His computer is one I built and the on-board graphics on his mobo were not keeping up. He didn't seem to care about it, but this is one of the ways we teach our kids about better technology and how the computer works, because he definitely could see it was a good idea after it was installed.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional value

Pros: Got this to replace an older PCI-E model nvidia 8600. With no other system upgrades, this improved 3d performance. Better, there's no power molex needed for additional power. Card was stable, and installed as easily as an addon card possibly could. There was an excellent rebate when I purchased, final price is below $50 and an absolute no-brainer.

Cons: It's taking quite a while for the rebate to be processed. I might have preferred ditching the DSUB output and having 2 DVI ports (if for whatever reason you need a dsub there's all kinds of adapters). The HDMI is fine, of course. 3-video outputs would have been super sweet.

Other Thoughts: I purchased an nvidia 580 about the same time. It cost 10X more, and frankly, the improvement is hardly noticeable on many games like WoW. Unless you buy the latest & greatest games on a regular basis, I virtually guarantee this card will meet your needs for a while to come.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC Card!

Pros: - Small
- Quiet
- HDMI Audio Pass-through allows for instant switching between stereo and Multi-Channel Audio

Cons: - Seems to run HOT. As this is being used in a Home Theater PC, it is noticeably hotter than when I was using the on-board video. However, the pro's far outweigh this con. I've opened the case and removed the backing of my TV stand in its compartment to allow for better airflow. So far, no artifacts or issues.

Other Thoughts: Installed this on my Home Theater PC and am loving it. Best feature is definitely the HDMI Audio Pass-through which allows for automatic switching from Stereo to multi-channel (5.1/6.1/7.1/DTS) audio based on the source.

I was using the PC's on-board video and audio, which would skew the picture and aspect ratio and down-mix multi-channel audio to 2-channels. Now I can enjoy true 1080p output with direct multi-channel output.

Have not tried any 3D games on this, and probably won't. HTPC will probably just be used for "Old School" game emulators (Nintendo, C-64, etc) which probably won't tax the graphics card.
