4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Worked with little effort

Cons: 1) I'm not crazy about the little cooling holes. I prefer that all the vents on my systems have smaller openings.

2) Getting the video just right on my display was a little trickier than I would have expected, but I was able to get it done with a little effort.

Other Thoughts: Takes up 2 spaces in the machine because of the cooling fans. That's pretty normal with higher end video cards I guess.

4 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: This is decent card, I haven't had one second of trouble with it and it has done it's job for the 3 years I've owned it. Tends to run on the cool side.

Cons: Fan noise may be a con for some people, it makes a bit of noise when it's really working hard. I have to go out of my way to notice this, because when it's working hard I am usually playing games.

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA GeForce 9800 GT

Pros: EVGA quality
cool & quiet
easy installation

Cons: none to speak of

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card 2/18/2010 and it has been used daily ever since without any performance problems, my pc is only shut down for routine maintenance and an occasional power-outage. After 1-1/2 years of use the fan became loud. I contacted EVGA and a replacement fan wasn't available but they would let me RMA it under warranty. But the card worked so well I didn't want to part with it so I carefully dismantled the fan, cleaned the moving parts and applied a small amount of white lithium grease, reassembled and now, another 1-1/2 later, it's still working well. My youngster plays Pirate101, Wizard101, Diablo 3, Startcraft 2 and WoW-Cata without any problems. I play WoW and get no less than 50-fps when in heavy traffic areas and 80+ elsewhere with most of my game settings on high. Pretty admirable considering my old low-end build;

Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSH motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo 2.2GHz Socket 939 89W Dual-Core Processor
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm Ceramic CPU Cooler (overkill for the cpu)
3gb Kingston DDR 400 (2x 1gb and 2x 512mb)
KINGWIN ABT-450MM 450W ATX 12V Ver.2.2 SLI Ready Power Supply
EVGA GeForce 9800 GT HDMI 1GB 256-bit DDR3 Video Card (#01G-P3-N988-TR)

Pros: Cheap. Plays Skyrim with ease. Does exactly what I need it to.

Cons: Does not support HDMI audio. Does not cook.

Other Thoughts: Would have preferred a better free game than Duke Nukem.

Runs much cooler than previous GeForce 9800 GT.
Got it in a reasonable amount of time.
NewEgg came through again.

New card after playing NFSMW 133 degrees F and cooling fast.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power/$ ratio

Pros: Definitely impressed with what is delivered for $69.99. Runs L4D2 on full settings flawlessly. Software install was easy. Drivers were updated and the card was quickly functional in both Windows 7 and Ubuntu.

Cons: I was amazed at how big this card is. I had to re-route my DVD audio and one of my fan cables, but that's not really the card's fault.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Card

Pros: I bought this card to use in a budget build for a family member. I was not sure on how well this card would hold up to the more modern intensive games of today but even at a res of 1366*760 The Card has been cranking through just about every game They throw at it. Great Card Still Pulls it's weight in today's market.

Cons: Card Runs a little on the warm side. Not much of a con for such a budget build in my case but could be a problem for some one running an SLI set up.

Other Thoughts: Fan Is a little on the loud side compared to most but nothing that wouldn't cause me to go crazy.

5 out of 5 eggsI only buy EVGA cards

Pros: Unparalleled customer service, great cards, and incentives that bring me back again and again. When I shop video cards on Newegg (the only place I shop), the first choice I make when Narrowing my search results is EVGA. They make great products, and you can't beat a company that puts its customers first. These folks are right up there with Newegg when it comes to customer service, and there is no substitute for that kind of attention to detail. My next video card will be another EVGA.

Cons: Cons? We don't need no stinking cons.

Other Thoughts: Okay, so these 9800's aren't the most powerful cards, but they do the job I need until I can get the more violent 500 or 600 series EVGA cards that I need to save up for. No need to put down the 9800's just because their time has come and gone. I got a great price, and until my March upgrade, these little troopers are showing that they are oldies, but goodies. Thank you to Newegg for getting them to me in a timely manner, and EVGA for your top of the line engineering, and unsurpassed customer service. Like Newegg, EVGA has earned a lifelong customer.
