4 out of 5 eggsCheap basic video card

Pros: Needed to replace the video card in my htpc and didn't want to spend much, so this was perfect. Installation was easy overall, but had some issues when trying to install it via my monitor connected to the hdmi port.

Cons: had to play around with hdmi settings to get it to work

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very budget-oriented. Better than older integrated and Intel chipsets.

Cons: Almost too budget-oriented. Barebones packaging, weak software, nothing really outstanding. Wouldn't recommend unless it is really on a good sale. Even just stepping up to GT240 (which I also own) blows this card away. Still waiting on MIR to arrive I believe.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: So forget what those others say, I'm playing ME2 at 1080p everything on with this thing. I never intended it for this but it works. Other games seem to work well too, I can play WoW at Ultra but its around 15fps going to Good settings gives me a steady 30fps.

Originally bought this for a cheap video card that could display at 1080p until I got some more money. However in the mean time this thing is a champ! I'm am going to replace it but I'm really surprised at what I have thrown at this and how it's come back and worked.

You really really really need to update drivers with this thing. I know it sounds stupid and you may think it's common sense but I just never thought to go to Nvidia and actually update. I had some trouble with playing any game until I updated then everything worked. Even ran Black Ops at an alright pace.

Cons: Well I got what I expected so no cons here.

Other Thoughts: Really if you're getting ready for BF3 or Crisis 2 then you're in the wrong place, however if you're looking for a cheap quick card that will play most games from now back then this isn't a bad choice.

I would recommend something a little more if you're planning on playing games seriously.

3 out of 5 eggsFigured it out

Pros: Decent HD playback. Relatively large WEI bump for gaming perf in comparison to the old 6200 the machine was previously running. Audio works out the DVI port (running a DVI->HDMI to my TV).

Cons: Slight WEI drop (.2) for Aero perf in comparison to the old 6200 (puzzled expression). Audio over-rides mobo S/PDIF, so drivers had to be re-installed with audio unchecked so I could use my stereo. Cannot use all four RAM slots on my mobo...whereas gaming perf increased, with a slight drop in Aero perf, it did not help at all after I was forced to pull 512 megs of RAM.

Other Thoughts: This is basically a review update...I had all four RAM slots of my MSI mobo occupied, and my 6200 and 8600GTS could both be installed, but not this series. After extensive searching, I found somebody else with the same mobo who had the same problem with a much better nVidia card, and his solution was to empty one of the RAM banks. Cripes, it woiked. Lost a half-gig of RAM, which I didn't think would be a big deal, but found that the Win7 shell perf (primarily MCE) took a huge hit...but at least the card works. Of course, drop the card into my Bad Axe II mobo with all banks occupied, and THAT mobo has absolutely no problem with this card. I'll probably never buy another MSI mobo again. Can't wait to upgrade the video card in my primary HTPC, and put the 8600GTS on the MSI board so I can add that fourth stick back again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Small not much power needed systems

Pros: 512mb ddr2, runs older games OK, good for hooking up to a 42" LCD TV.

Cons: 64bit memory, but for the price who cares. no physx but what do you expect?

Other Thoughts: overall good performance for a small low power system build with a small budget. buddy of mine had a micro atx s775 with a q6600 laying around so we got it up and going.

5 out of 5 eggscheap, midrange

Pros: freakin' cheap, easy install, nvidia board. solid pro is that it's NOT an ATI.

Cons: can't even complain about price... it's nearly free after MIR. doesn't score super-high marks in win7 (got a 4.7 for aero, 5.4 for biz), but for this price, no real issue.

Other Thoughts: satisfied client, which is what matters. obviously if you're building a high-end system you're not using one of these, but for any business system, it's a no-brainer.
