5 out of 5 eggsBig bang...little bucks

Pros: First off, its easy on the wallet, and secondly it performs considerably better than you would expect. Fan isn't loud, installation was a breeze, takes up minimal space for a Graphics card. What more could you want for the $30 range? If you have an outdated PC and you want to upgrade your video, this is the card to do it. I put this on a M2n68-LA Ivy GL6 board that was utilizing the onboard graphics and the windows experience score jumped 3pts. Not bad for $30. Works just fine for me.

Cons: Haven't found any so far. I know its not a $500 card so I don't expect it to behave like one.

Other Thoughts: If you want more than what this card offers you have to pay more $$...people who have complained about it not having this or not having that aren't considering its a $30 card. Sure its not the goto card for highend gaming, nor is the card for complicated 3d modeling work environments, but for the average PC user this is a good upgrade for older desktops especially anyone still using onboard graphics.

5 out of 5 eggsUse these all the time

Pros: We have found that for most people, even some gamers, the amount of memory and performance from this card gives them what they need.

Cons: Once in a while the card can be difficult for some motherboards to find. We have had to install the drivers first.

Other Thoughts: Yes, this card is great for the price. The performance of the card is adequate.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Budget Card

Pros: Price, Functionality, Dependability

I have had this card for over a year, and so far it has been perfect!
I put together a media center style PC to watch Netflix, Hulu, DVD, and Bluray Movies without having to switch between devices.

I have always been a AMD/Radeon supporter, but this card has impressed me.

Installation was a breeze, and the DVI and HDMI work great. Picture is always clear on 1080p and no hangs or freezes.

It even runs games like Dragon Age, Guild Wars (1&2), CounterStrike Source, older Need For Speed games, lower settings of course, but as much as me and the wife game together, its not that big of a deal.

All in all, its a great buy, and a performer. Buy it!

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: Always great shipping and service from Newegg! Keep up the good work!

4 out of 5 eggsGood basic dedicated video card!

Pros: Cool running, Fast response, fan onboard is tiny but quiet and cool the graphic prossesor to 40 degree C on intense use of digital imaging. Mine can see 16 NVidia CUDA cores while the ad just say 8 cores. 64-bit graphic is basic for light duty - not for mapping/ rendering or GPS apps.

Cons: None. Hope this EVGA basic card last a bit longer than others on the market.

Other Thoughts: Get NewEgg's promotion and don't buy it at regular price. I grabbed 2 cards. Mine is one third price displayed. Money well spent for the 8400 GS- 1Gb dedicated graphic - means less load on the PC cpu/ made it running cooler about - 20 deg. C

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great performance for the price.
Windows 7 has the drivers, zero hassle install.
Has HDMI out.
Can't ask for more.
I have ZERO fan noise. Not sure why some others do.

Cons: None noted after 9 months.

Other Thoughts: I have a dual monitor display in my office with a 27" widescreen for my 'desktop' and a 19" standard screen turned to portrait orientation so that letter-size documents display fully without having to scroll. Great resolution, great color, fast screens, way less eyestrain after long days.

4 out of 5 eggsEVGA GeForce 8400 GS

Pros: The card's drivers installed via Windows 7 update without issue. The rebate check arrived today. The card runs at about 42 C most of the time. It passed all the Dell diagnostic tests. Ubuntu works with it without issue. For the special price and rebate, it is a very good deal. Low slot mounting hardware was included.

Cons: The fan is noisy, as others have noted. After the second week, the fan was vibrating the case. I took out the fan and squirted motor oil down the fan shaft. That seems to fix the noise issue. The fan runs at high speed until the Windows 7 desktop appears. Then, it quiets down.

Other Thoughts: I bought the card to get the HDMI connection and to replace an old ATI HD 2400 Pro. I don't know what to think about the fan, but the card has a 2-year warranty. For $9.99 after rebate, I am not too worried.

3 out of 5 eggsRebate not honored

Pros: Card works

Cons: The rebate website kept part of my rebate information and sent a tracking number so I assumed everything was OK and discarded the original box. When I tried to track it, the info was gone. Though I could prove I bought the card with the invoice, I was told I had to petition EVGA for an exception if I wanted a rebate. The extra work wasn't worth the $10.

Other Thoughts: EVGA will lose more than $10 if I don't purchase another one of their products. It seems like a bad customer service call on their part.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Tim B,

I am sorry to hear about your experience with processing your rebate. We are here to work with you and would just need you to contact us with the rebate tracking number so that we can research this further. Please email our rebate support at rebates@evga.com with your rebate tracking number and we will move forward from there to assist you.

Regards,
EVGA Customer Support
