5 out of 5 eggsGood Card!

Pros: Great card for running low end games or just having it for dual monitors.
Stays cool running two monitors in games.
Comes with low profile brackets.

Cons: Not a 980 Titan Z

Other Thoughts: Would recommend for anyone needing a dual monitor setup.

5 out of 5 eggsLow profile video solution for very little moolah!

Pros: Inexpensive (less than $35) and an easy fit in a low profile PC. I put this in a Dell Optiplex GX620 low profile. The EVGA 8400 GS comes with a full-size bracket installed but includes two low-profile brackets which are easily changed out. It was recognized by Windows 7 immediately and drivers are available for 7, 8 and 10 in 32-bit and 64-bit flavors.

Cons: None - keeping in mind this is not for heavy-duty gaming!

Other Thoughts: My Optiplex is a "vintage" PC but it serves as an "always-on" station for phone screening, email and weather checks. But, I wanted more than the computer's built-in video. Since I did not plan to use the 15-pin D-shell, I just removed it by pulling the plug off the card's 12-pin header. I swapped the low-profile bracket on in place of the standard bracket. The card installed easily into the one PCIe slot. My current OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. The video came up in 800 x 600 with no "complaints" by Windows. A right-click on the desktop allowed me to select resolution of 1280 x 1024 which is the highest allowed by my current screen. I would not have had to install the NVIDEA GeForce Experience software, but I did. That allowed me to install the proper driver and to see that an updated driver was available. My old computer is equipped with a nice SSD drive but I am "processor limited" and since it is a Dell, changing the processor is not a good idea. Because of my slow processor, the GeForce Experience installation (which required .NET 4) was pretty slow. I did not count that as a "Con" for the adapter though because it was my old computer holding up the show. I just got the installation started and went to watch TV and when I came back it was finished. The GeForce experience did not automatically download the new driver -- not sure why -- but there was a link to nvidea[.]com/drivers and that opened a browser to the correct page and I used the product drill-down to find the latest driver (which GeForce Experience had properly identified by number). Because of my slow machine, this all took some time, but it was painless and I am very satisfied. I breathed some new life into my old PC by spending $35. If you are looking for a well-supported and very inexpensive DVI-hdmi-D-sub solution, I think you can't go wrong with this EVGA 8400 GS adapter which DOES absolutely include both standard and two low-profile brackets and a CD with software for installation and management as needed. The CD indicates support for Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP. The driver list at nvidea[.]com/drivers included drivers for Windows 10 also.

1 out of 5 eggsThis card is terrible

Pros: Loud fain noise blocks out annoying sales guys in the cubes outside of my office.

Cons: *This card can't do anything that modern CPU graphics cannot do.
*Extremely Loud fan noise

Other Thoughts: When my boss told me I'd be getting a new computer I asked for a decent graphics card. A low level card would've been nice around $80-100 and I'd have been extremely happy. Instead I got this noisemaker that I kept around simply because I thought it was taking a load off of the CPU processing which otherwise would've had to handle graphics as well. Here I am 2 years later and finally taking this card out to go back to intel HD graphics. I turned the computer on this morning and the noise was much louder than normal and I decided I had enough, removed it and I'll send it to some other poor soul.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Matthew S.,

The EVGA GeForece 8400 GS graphics card is considered an entry level graphics which was first released back in 2009. It is meant to be used as an onboard replacement or to achieve a multi- monitor set up for a workstation. We do offer a wide range of different graphics cards to fit any customer needs. Should you or any potential EVGA customer ever have any questions about any of our products, then I would encourage you to contact our 24 hour Presales Support team by phone 1.888.881.3842 and pressing option 3 or by email: Newegg@EVGA.com so that we can further assist you.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: It works. Handles Minecraft on a reasonably high setting and War Thunder on high or max. Works with light CAD software. Easy to overclock. Doesn't require a secondary power cable. Used it for about two years now.

Cons: Hot. 39°C idling, 70°C running Minecraft on highest settings. The fan is always screaming. Probably the loudest fan out of five in the case. Had a lot of fun trying to find RAM that worked with it. Whenever I unscrew the video cable, it takes one of the screws with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Easy to install (just a few clicks on Ubuntu), runs Minecraft at highest settings at about 90FPS, which is a huge surprise.

Cons: On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being silent and 10 being jet plane, the fan is about a 4. A little loud, but not worth making a fuss over as it keeps everything cool.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because my MOBO didn't include built in graphics, which is fine. I just needed something cheap to hook a monitor to since this PC used as a home server and doesn't need graphics power. This will get the job done no problem!

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: I ordered this for one of my desktops that I just installed an SSD drive and upgraded to Windows 8.1 It works great. Excellent graphics for the money. I am not a gamer and do not know how it would perform under those strains. But video and all else is great. Giving it 4 eggs because the Windows 8 drivers were not on the disc. Not a huge deal as the Vista drivers will work and you can download the 8 drivers from the EVGA website.

Cons: None as of now.

Other Thoughts: If you want to use the Vista drivers for 8 then you cannot use the GUI to do it. Go into the directory folder and find the Vista driver and install that way.
