3 out of 5 eggsHot Running Beast!

Pros: This is the best card that I have ever owned in terms of power, but there are issues. I have been able to run most games on the highest settings. Metro 2033 is not one of them, but it runs and looks good on medium settings. Very powerful card though.

Cons: Hot! This card runs hot as... (you know what). It may be what is causing my new issues with graphical artifacts in BC2. The price is also way too high.

Other Thoughts: I have not had any problems with the card since January 2011, but lately (after the patch in BC2) I have had graphical artifacts. In fairness this may be game related, but it feels like it is the card running too hot. I will talk to tech support in case it may be the card failing.

I keep my machine dust free, so it is not lack of airflow.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

There are many factors when it comes to the temperature a card will run at. These include but are not limited to the amount and direction of your fans and the path they flow through, ambient temperatures, spacing in your case, and others. Please also keep in mind these cards are rated to get to 97C, if you are still having problems with the card please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842

2 out of 5 eggsTwo returns, overheating regardless of case config.

Pros: Blazing fast card. Pushes huge amounts of data, great color.

Cons: Overheats at stock. Two cards, two different cases, consistantly overheating under load.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Can you please e-mail me with the maximum temperature the cards reach after running 20 minutes of our OC Scanner program as these cards are rated to get to 97C before overheating: http://www.evga.com/articles/00530/

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Fast...

Pros: Plays Crysis and Metro 2033 smoothly with all settings on high and with temperatures extremely cool while in SLI. Idle temperatures in my build 40C - 45C and under load varies but still remain about 66C top so far. Very quite for a card with so much power.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsDefective on arrival

Pros: Plays anything you throw at it in highest details without breaking a sweat.

Cons: Started throwing tons of artifacts within a week of getting it. Oddly it didn't affect new games like Crysis 2, but showed up most in older games like Torchlight and Lego Batman. Was also disappointed that EVGA required me to pay for the advance exchange, even though it was defective from the factory.

Other Thoughts: Put this next to a 280GTX acting as a physics processor and you've got a winning combo.

5 out of 5 eggscrazy power

Pros: very powerful card. EVGA is best in quality IMO.

Cons: the blackops case is kinda lame, seeing blackops for pc is garbage and runs like junk regardless of your specs. price

Other Thoughts: the power of this card is unreal. yeah the casing is lame but its superclocked. best single core gpu card on the market IMO. also keep in mind when buying this card, your other hardware specs. its very easy to put the bottleneck back on your mobo/processor when having this incredible card. consider upgrading entire system to avoid bottlenecks.

5 out of 5 eggsGTX 580

Pros: Love this card!! It sure makes a big difference, from my older card. Very fast and Directx 11, makes my games graphics wake up!!! Quiet fan on the card makes a lot to hear the speakers.

Cons: Just read Nvidia came out with a GTX 590 card!! :(

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Great card. If you want the best get a GTX 580 hands down. There is no comparison.

Cons: The card has a sweet COD logo/picture on it but it faces down so you will never see it if mounted like mine is. I have it in a HAF X 942 mounted on a new ASUS P8P67 Deluxe with a Sandy Bridge 2500K. Like I said, would be nice to see the picture/sweet paint job instead of the back of the circuit board. Just my two cents.

5 out of 5 eggsthe only thing better than one is two

Pros: I have a pair of these in SLI config with a liquid cooled 3.33 GHz Intel i7 980x and 24 GB RAM on an eVGA SLI3 motherboard and an SSD primary drive. Everything lives in a full size HAF Cooler Master 932 tower.

So far the GTX580s have been outstanding. I have had extended plat sessions with Fallout New Vegas which I had already started on a lesser machine. Playing everything on maximum settings is great! I was also finally able to play Metro 2033 which my last PC wouldn't even load. Crysis runs great and my all time favorites, the STALKER series are a blast as well. I have so many games I can't wait to tackle.

Other programs like some animation software, video editing and creation stuff work splendidly.

I always preferred nVidia chip set based video cards and every one I ever used was great. Well, except for a GTX 7950 which was awfully buggy. None, except the 7950 ever disappointed me. I expect the Fermi Black Ops to be the best ever.

Cons: No problems or deficiencies so far. They are expensive but things fell into place and I was able to afford a pair of them. I did have to buy a honking 1250 watt power supply to feed them and everything else which is something some people don't consider.

Other Thoughts: I am toying with adding a third one...

5 out of 5 eggsAwesomness in a can

Pros: Absoulutley smokes every game out there, have it sitting with a i7- 965 EE and 12 gb ddr 3 1600 mhz, cushes all in its path

Cons: Eh, a little heat prone, but with an i7 platform if you dont have ample cooling... why are you buying this?

Dont ever use stock disc driver that come with cards, d/l them from nvidia first.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for with this card
