5 out of 5 eggsworks great for small old preassbled computers

Pros: This works great for computers that you may have gotten a while back and run ok but never came with a graphics card like mine now it's working great and I'm able to play small games on my computer such as binding of Isaac minecraft and super meat boy with minor errors here and they're really recommended this one.

Cons: Works well for small cheap computers and gives good fps

3 out of 5 eggsGood for schoolwork, bad for video

Pros: Excellent price, card was 30 - $10 rebate. Better than just onboard video. Could run League of Legends on low settings.

Cons: struggles with video.

Other Thoughts: Not a gaming card, so no complaints with its difficulty with games, but it would stutter and skip back and forth on any kind of video, even 30 second low res stuff.

3 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: does not break the bank, low power requirements, small size

Cons: fan is loud with no active control

Other Thoughts: Works with Widows 8 but must find latest driver from EVGA. Could not bear the fan noise so I soldered in a 150 ohm resister to slow it down. Never gets above 55 degrees C. Don't know why EVGA thought they needed such a whiner fan. Voided warranty but card is tolerable,

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Steve A,

I am sorry to hear that you did not like the noise levels that you heard from the fan. I can confirm that these fans should be fairly quiet and if there is a issue we are here to assist. Please in the future contact us 24 hours at 1-888-881-3842 option 1 or by email at as we are here to help.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid card

Pros: I use these to replace the onboard graphics on Dell Optiplex SFF (small form factor) machines for office use to allow for multiple monitors. I've had 4 or 5 of these cards in operation for a few months to a year, and haven't had a single problem.

Needless to say, this chipset is dated and sub-par for any kind of graphics intensive/gaming application, but it's well more than enough to handle basic productivity tasks (MS Office, CRM, and the more-than-occasional YouTube video) and Windows 7's Aero interface. For those purposes it's a great card.

Cons: The ribbon cable that connects the VGA port to the card is cut to very tight tolerances. In other words, when using the low-profile bracket, the cable is just barely long enough to reach around the back of the card to the second bracket. I had one card where the cable wasn't really long enough and I needed to loosen the VGA connector from the bracket to get the internal cable to reach.

Also, the card (at least the revision of the card that I have in front of me now) doesn't have a marking to indicate which pin on the card's VGA header is pin 1. The cable will plug in either way. As a point of reference, the red wire on the ribbon cable should be oriented towards the mounting bracket (per the product pictures above).

Other Thoughts: Because the card is going in a SFF machine, it has to be adapted to use the low-profile brackets. It's a universal problem that a low-profile card can't be made to include both a DVI and VGA port (which is what we need) because those ports simply won't fit on one bracket. Hence this uses all 2 of the available expansion slots in the machine. We don't need the second slot, so it's not an issue.

But if you're in my shoes and don't want to take up an extra slot, I'd recommend going with a monitor that supports HDMI, or get a HDMI to DVI adapter cable. (Sadly we have many legacy monitors that only support VGA).

5 out of 5 eggsDecent HTPC graphics card

Pros: Low Profile, no need for 6pin power cables. Has HDMI. Video quality is good from an HTPC (living room / TV console) with a 65" LCD TV. Get's good picture quailty.. no issues, no shadowing or video lag for movies / general web usage. Sound from the HDMI also works fine.

Cons: None I can find.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried playing any games with this card since it wasn't purchased with that in mind. I'm sure it could handle a little in a low graphics setting for some games, but again not what my intended purchase was for.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent and cheap!

Pros: Cheap and works great. I bought this for a cheap computer upgrade.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Second video card that I have with a 8400GS chip on it. This one out performs the other that I have as that one has ddr2 with a 64bit memory bus. Also I must have got lucky on this one as mine came with the low profile brackets, in case I ever want to switch to a low profile case in the future and it also has a 64bit memory bus as well, which is a plus.

5 out of 5 eggsGood For Me!!

Pros: Great add-on card!
Stays cool!

Cons: only 32-bit

Other Thoughts: Overclocked 100Mhz just for fun. Works great. I needed a graphics card for pc at work cause onboard video wasn't cutting it anymore. Does well. NOT for gaming at anyting above 800x600. LOL
