5 out of 5 eggs3 years later

Pros: Great bang for buck
Running for over 3 years now

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this card refurbished over 3 years ago and it is still running just fine in SLI configuration with another EVGA GTX 470.

1 out of 5 eggsRecertified oe recertified garbage?

Pros: blinded by the bad, cannot see the good

Cons: Horrible heat issues....this thing is causing my screen to disappear as it is constantly overheating and crashing, even as I write this!! if I make it through to the end I'm lucky. right now my temps are as follows
CPU- 40.0C (max- 52C)
Nvidia gtx470- 65.0C (max- 90C)
I'ts all mounted in an antec DF-85 case with all the fans turned up to max.

My brother and friend warned me about this card and i thought recertified meant fixed. Hopefully I get a response from a customer service rep to solve this issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the card. While it is rated to get to 105C I would not run it above 90C. Please contact our 24/7 technical support so they can assist you with this issue, (888)-881-3842

5 out of 5 eggsBest top video card for the price

Pros: My old card was a Evga GTX-275 (run BF3 in DirectX-10 at Normal config) and I change this card for this Evga GTX-470 (run BF3 in DirectX-11 at Utra/High config) for half of the price for a Recertified card, it is a deal.
Only a bit more noisy and heater than the GTX-275 (+5 degree C). I use a good ventilate Antec 900 case (5 silent fans set at low speed). I use the Nvidia driver version 285.62 and run Win7-64 bit.
For gaming, that the best card on the market for the price.

Cons: Warm-up my room, it is good for the winter.

Other Thoughts: That can be helpful, check the benchmark and PassMark reviews for this GTX-470. Very good reviews and benchmark.

Run this GTX-470 without problem.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the hassle

Pros: Seemed like a cheap way to get another 470 GTX to run in SLI.

Cons: First one was causing random crashing, and took out my old motherboard. Sent it in and was replaced under RMA. Ended up having to build a new machine, as I couldn't justify paying for a new LGA 775 motherboard. Second one now started crashing and throwing random artifacts on the screen after a few minutes of gaming.

Other Thoughts: Once again, I've been reminded that an SLI setup is just not worth it. For the added headaches, heat, cost, and noise you've gained maybe enough performance to hold out 6-months to a year. I could've saved that two hundred bucks, the sixty I spent on an aftermarket cooler(thinking it was a heat issue), and just upgraded my original 470 GTX in a year or two when it starts showing its age with the next batch of high-tech games.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues getting SLI working properly. As you indicated you have 2 cards I would recommend you test them individually to see if its a specific card causing the issue. If they both work fine individually in both PCIe slots you maybe having an issue with the SLI bridge or power supply. If you find that one card works and the other crashes please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842 to setup a replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsRecertified?

Pros: GTX470, good price, EVGA. The card "looked" just like new.

Cons: I always assumed Recertified meant they actually tested the product for defects before shipping them out. I bought this to run in SLI with my other evga gtx470 (which has been fine for over a year) the moment i try to play any game with this card my system locks up, artifacts everywhere. Wont pass any stress tests, complete garbage. now i'm forced to pay for return shipping and wait even longer because someone didn't do their job and properly test this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize you are having difficulty getting the card working properly. All new cards as well as recertified cards are tested before they are shipped, however issues can occur during shipping. If you experience any issues with the replacement feel free to contact me directly, Matth@evga.com

1 out of 5 eggsRmaRmaRma

Pros: when it works, its like any other gtx 470

Cons: i wanna give this product from evga a 0 egg. because i bought this card, didnt work, DOA out of box. RMA 4 times. every time they held on to it for a day or so and sent it right back with out doing anything to it. and they said that the serial was differnt and that it was a different card. just for that fact the last time i sent it in i made a small dot with a permanant marker to see if it was differnt. once again same dot same spot. so basicly you send them an rma, they send it back saying its fixed. when you break it down it mean "you gave us 200-500 dollars (depending on what card you buy) and we wont do anything to help you) so F off" i ask what i can do to make sure it gets fixed and they said "nothing at all, it will be fixed when its fixed". it seems that they just keep the rma process going til your warrenty runs out so they can tell you to stop calling. been a year and still no working card. thx EVGA for gamers, what a joke, you suck

Other Thoughts: dont buy evga just because of the RMA and customer service. if you do buy them, make sure you buy from a place that will take it back and give you a brand new one. makes no sense to me, you get a brand new card, DOA from the box and they send you a 1-6 month old card that also went bad and that they "fixed"

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize for any confusion. RX products are recertified cards. In this case the card would be replaced with another RX card. If you are having an issue with your card we are here 24/7 to support you by phone, (888)-881-3842 or if you prefer you can e-mail me directly matth@evga.com

4 out of 5 eggsGood price for the performance

Pros: -Runs great in dual SLI
-It's EVGA so you can use EVGA Precision
-Runs pretty cool for the amount of stress I put it through

Cons: -The initial core clock is only 607 but that can be brought up with EVGA's Precision graphics tuning software.
-If you plan on liquid cooling the water blocks can be a pain to find.

Other Thoughts: I suppose 3 way SLI would be GREAT and a lot cheaper than going with higher end graphics cards set up in a 2 way SLI configuration.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT THAT GREAT ANY MORE

Pros: They run any game ,fast ,great for SLIing. On Evga's site you can buy these for $159

Cons: Now it hard to say buy one unless you need one For SLI ,but even then you can buy a new one with three fans for $30 more and a after market cooler would cost more then that.

Other Thoughts: I have three GTX470's but mine are msi but they are made the same way .With my motherboard ,when I was useing three They were sandwich right next to each other ,so I had to run the fan at 100% and it is loud with three of them running at a 100%,but itv would run anything you threw at it .They ran around 50c at idle and near 100c with some games.I got tired of that besides two is plenty .I have a great cooling case ,it came with a plstic window on it but it did not have a fan hold ,so I was able to put a 140mm fan right where I needed it over my GTX 470's ,plus the case has 5 140mm fans in it already. But I took the middle card out .But now it idles at 37c and even running it at 750/1500/1800 any more I have to add more voltage ,with the fan at 75% it hardly ever goes past 75c.That one 140mm fan blowing around 100cmf right on top of my GTX 470's makes all the difference in the world.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

The temperature of the card is affected by many different variables. It could be that your airflow in the case has too much positive (intake) or negative (exhaust), the ambient temperature is very high, you may have pockets of dead air around the card, or the card is overheating on its own. The maximum temperature for the card is 105C, however I would recommend running 95C or below. Please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842 or me directly so we can determine if its the card or the air flow that needs to be addressed.
