3 out of 5 eggsAn OK CARD

Pros: This graphics card does the job for a home office pc, It will play movies at 1080p with ease and play every game at 1440 x 900 or lower on medium settings. This graphics card is not a gaming level graphics card so do not purchase this card in the intent of gaming in 1080p

Cons: an amd graphics card at the same price point will do everything this can do and more

5 out of 5 eggsEvga Gforce GT 520 (fermi)

Pros: Faster than my old GT210, Much better display and there is a big difference in the Frams for gaming.

Cons: Still slow compared to the 600 series + EVGA But its a great alternative.

Other Thoughts: This is a great Graphics card for a part time gamer such as myself, i wouldn't try to run Crysis 2 in full graphics though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it is. -- linux review

Pros: To start off, I just LOVE AMD video cards, they can run up to six monitors and the catalyst driver builds distribution specific packages that work great with DKMS. My triple headed setup has seamless 3D across all monitors.

I also just LOVE nVIdia cards, they have the BEST 2-D driver (vdpau) and are THE choice for running WINE applications.

For a WINE gaming machine or a PVR, this is a great card, several games that wouldn't run on my AMD HD5670 would run on this one. Even though it's a low-end card, moste GOG and WINE platinum games run fine (Painkiller, HL2 etc.)

Cons: One card doesn't do it all, no triple head support, no VGA in low profile header. nViidia drivers aren't DKMS compatible (yet, there's a beta driver that DOES allegedly works with DKMS.)

Other Thoughts: This is a great card for a Linux user who wants to play some older games play videos and not burn a bunch of power in the process. I wish AMD worked better with WINE and I wish nVidia could drive more monitors but at this level of a card,a single 1920x1200 display is enough for this card.

To EVGA's credit, this card, despite being a low end card, has very high quality output, even the VGA looks great.

3 out of 5 eggsGood budget card.

Pros: Definitely a good price, will play some games. It will play Skyrim and Starcraft 2, but you wont be playing on high or even medium. Great for a workspace or office computer.

Cons: Only has 48 cuda cores, and only 64 bit DDR3 ram. Wish I would have spent the extra 100 for a gtx 550ti.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card just to get me through until I had the money to get a better card. It's worth it if you don't do much gaming, but it will not by any means be playing battlefield 3 on ultra.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the performance of the card. The 520 is designed mostly for HTPC setups. I usually recommend a 550 or higher for gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks OK for Inexpensive card

Pros: Easy to install and customer service from manufacturer was great.

Cons: Some games will not work as well (but not really a gamer board)
Little disappointed in the video trying to watch movies, not as clear as before with integrated chip.

Other Thoughts: In honesty some of the cons could be caused by the timing and headspace of the operator as I am a bit of a NOB.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for low watt PSU's

Pros: Does Directx 11
Low Wattage (Able to run it on 150w PSU)

5 out of 5 eggsHTPC

Pros: Does everything I need it to do. Good performance, video playback, and transmits both audio and video over HDMI.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Used for a HTPC. Works great for that application. This card is not meant for 3D gaming, but it works okay for that too.

5 out of 5 eggsthe little card that could

Pros: Good graphics
Great card for mmorpg games
Can play all my movies in 3D with awesome quality
Low profile (can fit in old case)
Overall great card for movies 3D or blue ray and light gaming.

Cons: The small fan gathers dust, and can't get it out.
A little fan noise.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card for an old computer, needles to say it ran like a new one. Then I build my own pc and transferred it to save $. In the new one I tested the 3d movies and was really astonished by the graphics this little card had.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Card

Pros: Its a decent card with Direct X 11 compatibility and 1 GB of DDR3 ram. Easy installation, easy to use.

Cons: The only reason I knocked it down an egg is because it seizes up when it overheats, which is rather easy. I have good airflow in my system, and my previous card never had an issue.

Other Thoughts: This is not a card to run games with. It overheats a bit to easy, its designed more for a standard user, and older games. I used this card as a cheap replacement for my old GeForce 8800 Ultra when that suddenly died on me. The older card ran games better. If your looking for a quick replacement or a card for a simple user, watching movies or similar, then this is for you.
