5 out of 5 eggs2nd Review for this Item

Pros: Runs on both W2000 and XP computers. I purchased this for a W2000 legacy computer and it does exactly what you would expect in this system. High resolution and good stable behavior.

Cons: Didn't come with driver disk and my slow DSL couldn't download the huge 130mb driver file from the EVGA site. Therefore, I couldn't install it initially.

Other Thoughts: This is actually a great little card for legacy computers. I couldn't download the 130mb driver from the EVGA site but I was later able to download the 33mb (W2000 & XP only) driver file from Nvidia. It installed easily and works great. Very stable. Highly recommended.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware Missing Docs & Drivers

Pros: None so far.

Cons: No user manual, specs or driver disk provided. All you get is a box with the video card in it. If you're on dial-up or extremely slow DSL like me, getting this (130mb driver alone) from the manufacturer's website is almost impossible.

Other Thoughts: Consider buying NEW if you have slow internet.

NOTE: I can't fairly rate it since I can't install it. Hence the 1 star rating. The rating is required.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGood replacement

Pros: Decent performance, AGP 8x, Works with Windows XP and Linux

Cons: No fan

Other Thoughts: No real issues. It just works which is a major plus. No fan, but my case has a fan pulling air from just above the expansion slot area since the previous AGP card's fan died.

5 out of 5 eggsworks on ancient ibm thinkpad t30

Pros: I bought a computer in 2002 as an undergrad student ... What I really bought was a tank.
The ibm t30 was the first computer to offer built in wifi. It was the first Thinkpad with a touchpad. This is the third and perhaps final wifi card i will put in it. From b to g and now n. wow! I never thought this computer would make it so far.
I installed it in 2 minutes.
The drivers went in flawlessly in windows xp sp3
The range has picked up 5 new networks.
The connection is stable.
Did not crack my ibm t30 bios mod that allows me to use other wifi cards.
Packaging was good
Price is awesome

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: Finishing a Doctorate this coming May - with the same computer I started undergrad with.
My Thinkpad is so old it is cool again cause people cant believe I nursed a laptop all these years and that it still performs and looks like a champ.

5 out of 5 eggsThe FLASH!

Pros: They should make a model in red with a lightning bolt on the back!
Speeds are as advertised. 200 write and 125 read for 1gb avchd file.
Only bottlenecked by your hdd.
If you are using an ssd then any transfer 1gb and below will be instantaneous.
Really nice retractable usb header.
Good looking.
Usb speeds are formidable as well.
Large keyring hole.

Cons: A little too light, but this is just me.
Plastic scratches easily.
I would like to see a flash drive made from gorilla glass like and a similar material as the older iPhones. They would be indestructible.

Other Thoughts: I am a geek and bragged to all my coworkers about its prowess.

Benched using Windows 8 transfer monitor.
Faster than 500gb caviar black and 74gb 10000rpm raptors in raid 0.
I bought a sony magicvault first, but it was slow, flimsy, and did not fit on a keychain. I promptly returned it and got this monster. I am now satisfied.

Used an etron usb 3.0 controller.
Amd 1090t
Samsung 840
32 gb of ram @ 1600mhz
990fx chipset

It is long but fits fine in usb slots.

4 out of 5 eggsHot

Pros: 1. inexpensive
2. 512 dedicated meg
3. pefect for business graphics

Cons: 1. runs hot. See other thoughts..

Other Thoughts: 67 degrees C at idle. Nearly 100 under stress, hot enough to boil water. I attached a case fan to the inside of the side grill of the computer case and that did the trick. blows cool air right over the heat sink. now the idle temp is 47 degrees C and under stress 70. Still a good buy though considering the price and free shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsCrazy Fast

Pros: 64-bit memory bus
DDR2 vram... 512 mb of it.... insane
Great upgrade from my AMD 7990, uses much less power in terms of wattage in comparison, and stays quite a bit cooler. The size is great, my 7990 used up three PCI slots while this uses only one AGP slot without external power. Color me impressed!
I'm getting insane frame rates with this, nearly 6.0 frames per sec in Crysis 3 multiplayer beta, I personally would find one frame per second acceptable, any less and my attention span would get the best of me.

Cons: Pricy... at 25.00. I was tempted to buy a picture of a Windows desktop and backlight it with some LED's (for better contras ratio) to give the illusion of a working pc, which would cost about the same. All in all, a great step up! Buy this now if you can afford it!

Other Thoughts: BUY IT!
